1 И осиф припал к отцу, заплакал над ним и поцеловал его.

And Joseph falleth on his father's face, and weepeth over him, and kisseth him;

2 О н приказал своим рабам-врачам набальзамировать тело отца, и врачи набальзамировали Израиля.

and Joseph commandeth his servants, the physicians, to embalm his father, and the physicians embalm Israel;

3 У них ушло на это сорок дней, потому что таков полный срок бальзамирования. И египтяне оплакивали его семьдесят дней.

and they fulfil for him forty days, for so they fulfil the days of the embalmed, and the Egyptians weep for him seventy days.

4 К огда прошли дни плача, Иосиф сказал придворным фараона: – Если я нашел расположение в ваших глазах, попросите за меня фараона, скажите ему:

And the days of his weeping pass away, and Joseph speaketh unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, `If, I pray you, I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

5 « Мой отец велел мне дать клятву и сказал: “Я умираю; похорони меня в могиле, которую я выкопал себе в земле Ханаана“. Позволь же мне пойти и похоронить моего отца. После этого я вернусь».

My father caused me to swear, saying, Lo, I am dying; in my burying-place which I have prepared for myself in the land of Canaan, there dost thou bury me; and now, let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and return;'

6 Ф араон сказал: – Иди и похорони отца так, как ты поклялся по его велению.

and Pharaoh saith, `Go up and bury thy father, as he caused thee to swear.'

7 И осиф пошел хоронить отца и с ним пошли все придворные фараона, старейшины двора и все старейшины Египта,

And Joseph goeth up to bury his father, and go up with him do all the servants of Pharaoh, elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,

8 и весь дом Иосифа, и его братья, и весь дом его отца. Только их дети и стада крупного и мелкого скота остались в Гошене.

and all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and the house of his father; only their infants, and their flock, and their herd, have they left in the land of Goshen;

9 И х сопровождали колесницы и всадники; это была великая процессия.

and there go up with him both chariot and horsemen, and the camp is very great.

10 О ни пришли к гумну Атада, что за Иорданом, и там стали громко и горько плакать. Там Иосиф семь дней оплакивал отца.

And they come unto the threshing-floor of Atad, which beyond the Jordan, and they lament there, a lamentation great and very grievous; and he maketh for his father a mourning seven days,

11 К огда хананеи, обитатели той земли, увидели плач у гумна Атада, они сказали: «У египтян великий плач и горе». Вот почему то место рядом с Иорданом называется Авель-Мицраим.

and the inhabitant of the land, the Canaanite, see the mourning in the threshing-floor of Atad, and say, `A grievous mourning this to the Egyptians;' therefore hath called its name `The mourning of the Egyptians,' which beyond the Jordan.

12 Т ак сыновья Иакова исполнили его наказ:

And his sons do to him so as he commanded them,

13 о ни отнесли его в землю Ханаана и похоронили в пещере на поле Махпела, рядом с Мамре; эту пещеру Авраам купил у хетта Эфрона вместе с полем, чтобы было у него место для погребения.

and his sons bear him away to the land of Canaan, and bury him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a burying-place, from Ephron the Hittite, on the front of Mamre.

14 П охоронив отца, Иосиф возвратился в Египет, вместе с братьями и всеми, кто ходил с ним хоронить отца. Иосиф прощает братьев

And Joseph turneth back to Egypt, he and his brethren, and all who are going up with him to bury his father, after his burying his father.

15 К огда отец умер, братья Иосифа подумали: «Что, если Иосиф таит на нас злобу и теперь отплатит нам за все зло, которое мы ему причинили?»

And the brethren of Joseph see that their father is dead, and say, `Peradventure Joseph doth hate us, and doth certainly return to us all the evil which we did with him.'

16 И они послали к Иосифу сказать: – Перед смертью отец оставил такие наставления:

And they give a charge for Joseph, saying, `Thy father commanded before his death, saying,

17 « Вот что вы должны сказать вашему брату Иосифу: “Я прошу тебя простить твоим братьям их вину и грехи, которые они совершили, поступив с тобой так скверно. И теперь, пожалуйста, прости грехи рабов Бога твоего отца”». Получив это послание, Иосиф заплакал.

Thus ye do say to Joseph, I pray thee, bear, I pray thee, with the transgression of thy brethren, and their sin, for they have done thee evil; and now, bear, we pray thee, with the transgression of the servants of the God of thy father;' and Joseph weepeth in their speaking unto him.

18 Е го братья пришли, пали перед ним на землю и сказали: – Мы – твои рабы.

And his brethren also go and fall before him, and say, `Lo, we to thee for servants.'

19 И осиф ответил: – Не бойтесь. Разве я Бог?

And Joseph saith unto them, `Fear not, for I in the place of God?

20 В ы замыслили против меня зло, но Бог обратил его ко благу, чтобы совершить то, что происходит теперь: спасение многих жизней.

As for you, ye devised against me evil -- God devised it for good, in order to do as this day, to keep alive a numerous people;

21 П оэтому не бойтесь: я прокормлю и вас, и ваших детей. Он успокоил их и говорил с ними ласково. Смерть Иосифа

and now, fear not: I do nourish you and your infants;' and he comforteth them, and speaketh unto their heart.

22 И осиф жил в Египте вместе с семьей отца, и прожил сто десять лет.

And Joseph dwelleth in Egypt, he and the house of his father, and Joseph liveth a hundred and ten years,

23 О н застал еще третье поколение детей Ефрема; и детей Махира, сына Манассии, тоже положили при рождении на колени Иосифа.

and Joseph looketh on Ephraim's sons of the third; sons also of Machir, son of Manasseh, have been born on the knees of Joseph.

24 И осиф сказал братьям: – Я умираю, но Бог непременно придет к вам на помощь и выведет вас из этой земли в землю, которую Он с клятвой обещал Аврааму, Исааку и Иакову.

And Joseph saith unto his brethren, `I am dying, and God doth certainly inspect you, and hath caused you to go up from this land, unto the land which He hath sworn to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.'

25 И осиф велел сыновьям Израиля дать клятву и сказал: – Бог непременно придет к вам на помощь, и тогда вы должны вынести мои кости отсюда.

And Joseph causeth the sons of Israel to swear, saying, `God doth certainly inspect you, and ye have brought up my bones from this.'

26 И осиф умер в возрасте ста десяти лет, и его набальзамировали и положили в гроб в Египте.

And Joseph dieth, a son of an hundred and ten years, and they embalm him, and he is put into a coffin in Egypt.
