1 О дин человек, которого звали Лазарь, был болен. Он был из Вифании, селения, где жили Мария и ее сестра Марфа.

And there was a certain one ailing, Lazarus, from Bethany, of the village of Mary and Martha her sister --

2 М ария и была той женщиной, что помазала Господа ароматическим маслом и вытерла Его ноги своими волосами. И вот ее брат Лазарь был болен.

and it was Mary who did anoint the Lord with ointment, and did wipe his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ailing --

3 С естры передали Иисусу: – Господи, тот, кого Ты любишь, болен.

therefore sent the sisters unto him, saying, `Sir, lo, he whom thou dost love is ailing;'

4 К огда Иисус услышал об этом, Он сказал: – Эта болезнь не к смерти, она для славы Божьей, чтобы Сын Бога был прославлен через нее.

and Jesus having heard, said, `This ailment is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.'

5 И исус любил Марфу, ее сестру Марию и Лазаря.

And Jesus was loving Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus,

6 О днако когда Он узнал, что Лазарь болен, то пробыл там, где Он тогда находился, еще два дня.

when, therefore, he heard that he is ailing, then indeed he remained in the place in which he was two days,

7 З атем Он сказал Своим ученикам: – Пойдем обратно в Иудею.

then after this, he saith to the disciples, `We may go to Judea again;'

8 – Рабби, – сказали они Ему, – иудеи ведь еще недавно хотели побить Тебя камнями, а Ты хочешь туда возвратиться?

the disciples say to him, `Rabbi, now were the Jews seeking to stone thee, and again thou dost go thither!'

9 И исус ответил: – Разве не двенадцать часов в сутках светло? Тот, кто ходит днем, не споткнется, потому что он видит свет этого мира.

Jesus answered, `Are there not twelve hours in the day? if any one may walk in the day, he doth not stumble, because the light of this world he doth see;

10 А тот, кто ходит ночью, споткнется, потому что в это время темно.

and if any one may walk in the night, he stumbleth, because the light is not in him.'

11 С казав это, Иисус добавил: – Наш друг Лазарь заснул, но Я иду разбудить его.

These things he said, and after this he saith to them, `Lazarus our friend hath fallen asleep, but I go on that I may awake him;'

12 У ченики Его сказали: – Господи, если он спит, значит, выздоровеет.

therefore said his disciples, `Sir, if he hath fallen asleep, he will be saved;'

13 И исус говорил им о том, что Лазарь умер, но ученики думали, что Он говорит об обыкновенном сне.

but Jesus had spoken about his death, but they thought that about the repose of sleep he speaketh.

14 Т огда Он сказал им прямо: – Лазарь умер.

Then, therefore, Jesus said to them freely, `Lazarus hath died;

15 Р ади вас и ради того, чтобы вы поверили, Я рад, что Меня там не было. Но сейчас пойдем к нему.

and I rejoice, for your sake, (that ye may believe,) that I was not there; but we may go to him;'

16 Т огда Фома, которого еще называли Близнец, сказал остальным ученикам: – Пойдем и мы и умрем с Ним! Иисус утешает Марию и Марфу

therefore said Thomas, who is called Didymus, to the fellow-disciples, `We may go -- we also, that we may die with him,'

17 П ридя туда, Иисус узнал, что тело Лазаря уже четыре дня в могиле.

Jesus, therefore, having come, found him having been four days already in the tomb.

18 В ифания была стадиях в пятнадцати от Иерусалима,

And Bethany was nigh to Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off,

19 и к Марфе с Марией пришло много иудеев, чтобы выразить свое соболезнование по поводу смерти их брата.

and many of the Jews had come unto Martha and Mary, that they might comfort them concerning their brother;

20 К огда Марфа услышала, что пришел Иисус, она пошла встретить Его, а Мария осталась дома.

Martha, therefore, when she heard that Jesus doth come, met him, and Mary kept sitting in the house.

21 – Господи, – сказала Марфа Иисусу, – если бы Ты был здесь, то мой брат не умер бы.

Martha, therefore, said unto Jesus, `Sir, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died;

22 Н о я знаю, что Бог и сейчас даст Тебе, что бы Ты ни попросил.

but even now, I have known that whatever thou mayest ask of God, God will give to thee;'

23 И исус сказал ей: – Твой брат воскреснет.

Jesus saith to her, `Thy brother shall rise again.'

24 М арфа ответила: – Я знаю, что он воскреснет в День воскресения, в последний День.

Martha saith to him, `I have known that he will rise again, in the rising again in the last day;'

25 И исус сказал ей: – Я – воскресение и жизнь. Тот, кто верит в Меня, если и умрет – оживет,

Jesus said to her, `I am the rising again, and the life; he who is believing in me, even if he may die, shall live;

26 а кто живет и верит в Меня, тот никогда не умрет. Ты этому веришь?

and every one who is living and believing in me shall not die -- to the age;

27 – Да, Господи, – сказала она, – я верю, что Ты Христос, Сын Бога, Который пришел в мир.

believest thou this?' she saith to him, `Yes, sir, I have believed that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming to the world.'

28 С казав это, Марфа вернулась, отозвала свою сестру в сторону и сказала: – Учитель здесь, Он зовет тебя.

And these things having said, she went away, and called Mary her sister privately, saying, `The Teacher is present, and doth call thee;'

29 К огда Мария это услышала, она тут же побежала Ему навстречу.

she, when she heard, riseth up quickly, and doth come to him;

30 И исус еще не вошел в селение и стоял там, где Марфа Его встретила.

and Jesus had not yet come to the village, but was in the place where Martha met him;

31 К огда иудеи, бывшие с ней в доме и утешавшие ее, заметили, как она быстро встала и вышла, они пошли за ней, решив, что она пошла к могиле плакать.

the Jews, therefore, who were with her in the house, and were comforting her, having seen Mary that she rose up quickly and went forth, followed her, saying -- `She doth go away to the tomb, that she may weep there.'

32 М ария пришла туда, где был Иисус, и, увидев Его, упала к Его ногам, говоря: – Господи, если бы Ты был здесь, мой брат бы не умер.

Mary, therefore, when she came where Jesus was, having seen him, fell at his feet, saying to him, `Sir, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died;'

33 И исус, видя, что плачет и она, и иудеи, которые с ней, и Сам сильно расстроился и опечалился.

Jesus, therefore, when he saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, did groan in the spirit, and troubled himself, and he said,

34 – Куда вы его положили? – спросил Он. – Пойдем, и Ты Сам увидишь, Господин, – сказали они.

`Where have ye laid him?' they say to him, `Sir, come and see;'

35 И исус заплакал.

Jesus wept.

36 И удеи говорили между собой: – Смотрите, как Он его любил. Иисус воскрешает Лазаря из мертвых

The Jews, therefore, said, `Lo, how he was loving him!'

37 Н екоторые, однако же, говорили: – Неужели Он, Который открыл глаза слепому, не мог сделать так, чтобы этот человек не умер?

and certain of them said, `Was not this one, who did open the eyes of the blind man, able to cause that also this one might not have died?'

38 И исус, все еще печальный, пошел к могиле. Это была пещера в скале, ко входу которой был привален камень.

Jesus, therefore, again groaning in himself, cometh to the tomb, and it was a cave, and a stone was lying upon it,

39 – Уберите камень, – велел Он. Марфа, сестра умершего, сказала: – Господи, но там ведь уже тяжелый запах – Лазарь четыре дня как в могиле.

Jesus saith, `Take ye away the stone;' the sister of him who hath died -- Martha -- saith to him, `Sir, already he stinketh, for he is four days dead;'

40 Т огда Иисус сказал: – Разве Я не говорил тебе, что если ты будешь верить, то увидишь Божью славу?

Jesus saith to her, `Said I not to thee, that if thou mayest believe, thou shalt see the glory of God?'

41 Т огда камень убрали. Иисус же посмотрел на небо и сказал: – Отец, благодарю Тебя за то, что Ты услышал Меня.

They took away, therefore, the stone where the dead was laid, and Jesus lifted his eyes upwards, and said, `Father, I thank Thee, that Thou didst hear me;

42 Я знаю, что Ты всегда слышишь Меня, но Я сказал это ради тех, кто стоит здесь, чтобы они поверили, что Ты послал Меня.

and I knew that Thou always dost hear me, but, because of the multitude that is standing by, I said, that they may believe that Thou didst send me.'

43 С казав это, Иисус громко позвал: – Лазарь, выходи!

And these things saying, with a loud voice he cried out, `Lazarus, come forth;'

44 У мерший вышел. Его руки и ноги были обвязаны погребальными полотнами, а лицо закрыто платком. – Развяжите его, пусть он идет, – сказал Иисус. Заговор религиозных вождей

and he who died came forth, being bound feet and hands with grave-clothes, and his visage with a napkin was bound about; Jesus saith to them, `Loose him, and suffer to go.'

45 М ногие из иудеев, которые пришли навестить Марию и видели, что сделал Иисус, поверили в Него.

Many, therefore, of the Jews who came unto Mary, and beheld what Jesus did, believed in him;

46 Н о некоторые из них пошли к фарисеям и рассказали им обо всем, что сделал Иисус.

but certain of them went away unto the Pharisees, and told them what Jesus did;

47 П ервосвященники и фарисеи тогда созвали совет. – Что нам делать? – спрашивали они. – Этот Человек творит много знамений.

the chief priests, therefore, and the Pharisees, gathered together a sanhedrim, and said, `What may we do? because this man doth many signs?

48 Е сли мы позволим Ему продолжать, то все поверят в Него, и тогда римляне придут и уничтожат и наш храм, и наш народ.

if we may let him alone thus, all will believe in him; and the Romans will come, and will take away both our place and nation.'

49 К айафа, один из них, который в тот год был первосвященником, сказал: – Вы ничего не понимаете!

and a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being chief priest of that year, said to them, `Ye have not known anything,

50 В ы не можете понять, что лучше для вас, чтобы один человек умер за народ, чем погиб бы весь народ.

nor reason that it is good for us that one man may die for the people, and not the whole nation perish.'

51 О н сказал это не от себя, но, будучи в этот год первосвященником, он изрек пророчество о том, что Иисус умрет за народ,

And this he said not of himself, but being chief priest of that year, he did prophesy that Jesus was about to die for the nation,

52 и не только за иудейский народ, но и для того, чтобы собрать воедино рассеянных повсюду детей Божьих.

and not for the nation only, but that also the children of God, who have been scattered abroad, he may gather together into one.

53 С этого дня они стали думать, как убить Иисуса.

From that day, therefore, they took counsel together that they may kill him;

54 И поэтому Иисус уже не ходил открыто среди иудеев. Он ушел в местность, расположенную недалеко от пустыни, в город Ефрем. Там Он и остался со Своими учениками.

Jesus, therefore, was no more freely walking among the Jews, but went away thence to the region nigh the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim, and there he tarried with his disciples.

55 П риближался иудейский праздник Пасхи, и многие жители страны шли в Иерусалим для обрядового очищения перед Пасхой.

And the passover of the Jews was nigh, and many went up to Jerusalem out of the country before the passover, that they might purify themselves;

56 О ни искали Иисуса и, стоя в храме, спрашивали друг друга: – Как вы думаете? Он, наверняка, не придет на праздник?

they were seeking, therefore, Jesus, and said one with another, standing in the temple, `What doth appear to you -- that he may not come to the feast?'

57 А первосвященники и фарисеи отдали распоряжение о том, что если кто-либо узнает, где находится Иисус, то должен сообщить им, чтобы они могли арестовать Его.

and both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if any one may know where he is, he may shew, so that they may seize him.
