1 В от что Владыка Господь, показал мне: Он готовил рои саранчи, когда царская доля была пожата, а поздняя трава начинала подниматься.

Thus hath the Lord Jehovah shewed me, and lo, He is forming locusts at the beginning of the ascending of the latter growth, and lo, the latter growth after the mowings of the king;

2 К огда они дочиста объели землю, я вскричал: – Владыка, Господи, молю Тебя, прости! Как выжить Иакову? Он так мал!

and it hath come to pass, when it hath finished to consume the herb of the land, that I say: `Lord Jehovah, forgive, I pray Thee, How doth Jacob arise -- for he small?'

3 И Господь смягчился. – Не будет этого, – сказал Господь.

Jehovah hath repented of this, `It shall not be,' said Jehovah.

4 В от что Владыка Господь показал мне: Владыка Господь призвал огонь для суда, и он иссушил великую пучину и пожрал землю.

Thus hath the Lord Jehovah shewed me, and lo, the Lord Jehovah is calling to contend by fire, and it consumeth the great deep, yea, it hath consumed the portion, and I say:

5 И я вскричал: – О Владыка Господь, молю Тебя, остановись! Как выжить Иакову? Он ведь так мал!

`Lord Jehovah, cease, I pray Thee, How doth Jacob arise -- for he small?'

6 И Господь смягчился. – Не будет и этого, – сказал Владыка Господь.

Jehovah hath repented of this, `It also shall not be,' said the Lord Jehovah.

7 В от что Он показал мне: Владыка стоял у стены, построенной по отвесу, со свинцовым отвесом в руке.

Thus hath He shewed me, and lo, the Lord is standing by a wall a plumb-line, and in His hand a plumb-line;

8 Г осподь спросил меня: – Что ты видишь, Амос? – Свинцовый отвес, – ответил я. Владыка сказал: – Вот, Я кладу отвес среди Моего народа, Израиля; Я больше не буду щадить их.

and Jehovah saith unto me, `What art thou seeing, Amos?' And I say, `A plumb-line;' and the Lord saith: `Lo, I am setting a plumb-line in the midst of My people Israel, I do not add any more to pass over to it.

9 – Возвышенности Исаака будут опустошены и святилища Израиля лягут руинами; Я поднимусь с мечом против дома Иеровоама. Амос и Амасия

And desolated have been high places of Isaac, And sanctuaries of Israel are wasted, And I have risen against the house of Jeroboam with a sword.'

10 А масия, священник из Вефиля, послал Иеровоаму, царю Израиля, весть: «Амос замышляет против тебя заговор в самом сердце Израиля. Земля не в силах терпеть всех его слов.

And Amaziah priest of Beth-El sendeth unto Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, `Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is not able to bear all his words,

11 В от что говорит Амос: “Иеровоам умрет от меча, а Израиль непременно отправится в плен со своей земли”».

for thus said Amos: By sword die doth Jeroboam, And Israel certainly removeth from off its land.'

12 А масия сказал Амосу: – Уходи, провидец! Возвращайся в иудейскую землю. Там зарабатывай на хлеб, там и пророчествуй.

And Amaziah saith unto Amos, `Seer, go flee for thee unto the land of Judah, and eat there bread, and there thou dost prophesy;

13 Н е пророчествуй больше в Вефиле – это капище царя и храм царства.

and Beth-El do not add to prophesy any more, for it the king's sanctuary, and it the royal house.'

14 А мос ответил Амасии: – Я не пророк и не сын пророка. Я был пастухом и ухаживал за тутовыми деревьями.

And Amos answereth and saith unto Amaziah, `I no prophet, nor a prophet's son I, but a herdsman I, and a cultivator of sycamores,

15 Н о Господь забрал меня от овец и сказал мне: «Иди, пророчествуй Моему народу, Израилю».

and Jehovah taketh me from after the flock, and Jehovah saith unto me, Go, prophesy unto My people Israel.

16 И так, выслушай слово Господа. Ты говоришь: «Не пророчествуй против Израиля, перестань проповедовать против дома Исаака».

And now, hear a word of Jehovah: thou art saying, Do not prophesy against Israel, nor drop against the house of Isaac,

17 П оэтому вот, что говорит Господь: «Городской блудницей станет твоя жена, твои сыновья и дочери падут от меча. Землю твою измерят и разделят, а сам ты умрешь в нечистой земле. Израиль же непременно пойдет в плен со своей земли».

therefore thus said Jehovah: Thy wife in the city doth go a-whoring, And thy sons and thy daughters by sword do fall, And thy land by line is apportioned, And thou on an unclean land diest, And Israel certainly removeth from off its land.'
