1 Н о израильтяне не исполнили повеления о посвященных вещах: Ахан, сын Хармия, внук Завдия, правнук Зераха, из рода Иуды, взял себе часть из посвященного. И гнев Господа вспыхнул на Израиль.

And the sons of Israel commit a trespass in the devoted thing, and Achan, son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, taketh of the devoted thing, and the anger of Jehovah burneth against the sons of Israel.

2 И исус послал несколько человек из Иерихона в Гай, что рядом с Бет-Авеном к востоку от Вефиля, сказав им: − Идите, разведайте эту область. Те люди пошли и разведали Гай.

And Joshua sendeth men from Jericho to Ai, which near Beth-Aven, on the east of Bethel, and speaketh unto them, saying, `Go up and spy the land;' and the men go up and spy Ai,

3 В ернувшись к Иисусу, они сказали: − Всему народу не нужно идти на Гай. Пошли захватить его две или три тысячи человек и не утруждай всего народа, потому что в городе мало людей.

and they turn back unto Joshua, and say unto him, `Let not all the people go up; let about two thousand men, or about three thousand men, go up, and they smite Ai; cause not all the people to labour thither; for they few.'

4 О коло трех тысяч человек отправилось туда, но жители Гая обратили их в бегство,

And there go up of the people thither about three thousand men, and they flee before the men of Ai,

5 у бив из них тридцать шесть человек. Они преследовали израильтян от городских ворот до самых каменоломен и поражали их на склонах. От этого сердца народа ослабели и стали, как вода.

and the men of Ai smite of them about thirty and six men, and pursue them before the gate unto Shebarim, and they smite them in Morad; and the heart of the people is melted, and becometh water.

6 И исус разорвал на себе одежду, упал лицом на землю перед ковчегом Господа и оставался там до вечера. Старейшины Израиля сделали то же самое и посыпали свои головы пылью.

And Joshua rendeth his garments, and falleth on his face to the earth before the ark of Jehovah till the evening, he and the elders of Israel, and they cause dust to go up on their head.

7 И исус сказал: – О Владыка, Господь, зачем же Ты перевел этот народ через Иордан, чтобы отдать нас в руки аморреев и погубить нас? О, если бы мы только остались и жили за Иорданом!

And Joshua saith, `Ah, Lord Jehovah, why hast Thou at all caused this people to pass over the Jordan, to give us into the hand of the Amorite to destroy us? -- and oh that we had been willing -- and we dwell beyond the Jordan!

8 О Владыка, что мне сказать теперь, когда Израиль обратился спиной к своим врагам?

Oh, Lord, what do I say, after that Israel hath turned the neck before its enemies?

9 Х ананеи и другие жители этой страны услышат об этом, окружат нас и сотрут наше имя с лица земли. Что Ты станешь делать тогда для Твоего великого Имени?

and the Canaanite and all the inhabitants of the land do hear, and have come round against us, and cut off our name out of the earth; and what dost Thou do for Thy great name?'

10 Г осподь сказал Иисусу: – Встань! Зачем ты склонился на свое лицо?

And Jehovah saith unto Joshua, `Rise for thee, why this? -- thou falling on thy face?

11 И зраиль согрешил. Они нарушили Мой завет, который Я повелел им хранить. Они взяли часть из посвященных вещей. Они украли, солгали и положили их со своими пожитками.

Israel hath sinned, and also they have transgressed My covenant which I commanded them, and also taken of the devoted thing, and also stolen, and also deceived, and also put among their vessels,

12 В от почему израильтяне не могут устоять перед своими врагами. Они обратились спиной к своим врагам потому, что попали под заклятие. Я не останусь с вами, если вы не истребите у себя все, что отделено для уничтожения.

and the sons of Israel have not been able to stand before their enemies; the neck they turn before their enemies, for they have become a devoted thing; I add not to be with you -- if ye destroy not the devoted thing out of your midst.

13 И ди, освяти народ. Скажи им: «Освятитесь для завтрашнего дня; потому что Господь, Бог Израиля, говорит: “То, что отделено для уничтожения, находится у тебя, Израиль. Ты не сможешь устоять перед своими врагами, пока не удалишь это”.

`Rise, sanctify the people, and thou hast said, Sanctify yourselves for to-morrow; for thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, A devoted thing in thy midst, O Israel, thou art not able to stand before thine enemies till your turning aside of the devoted thing out of your midst;

14 П одходите утром по своим родам. Род, на который укажет Господь, пусть подходит по своим кланам. Клан, на который укажет Господь, пусть подходит по своим семьям. А семья, на которую укажет Господь, пусть подходит по одному человеку.

and ye have been brought near in the morning by your tribes, and it hath been, the tribe which Jehovah doth capture doth draw near by families, and the family which Jehovah doth capture doth draw near by households, and the household which Jehovah doth capture doth draw near by men;

15 Т от, кого возьмут с посвященными вещами, будет сожжен вместе со всем, что у него есть. Он нарушил завет Господа и совершил в Израиле бесчестный поступок!»

and it hath been, he who is captured with the devoted thing is burnt with fire, he and all that he hath, because he hath transgressed the covenant of Jehovah, and because he hath done folly in Israel.'

16 Н а следующее утро Иисус встал рано и велел Израилю подходить по родам, и был указан род Иуды.

And Joshua riseth early in the morning, and bringeth Israel near by its tribes, and the tribe of Judah is captured;

17 О н велел подходить кланам Иуды, и указан был клан зерахитов. Он велел клану зерахитов подходить по семьям, и указана была семья Завдия.

and he bringeth near the family of Judah, and he captureth the family of the Zarhite; and he bringeth near the family of the Zarhite by men, and Zabdi is captured;

18 И исус велел его семье подходить по одному человеку, и указан был Ахан, сын Хармия, внук Завдия, правнук Зераха из рода Иуды.

and he bringeth near his household by men, and Achan -- son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah -- is captured.

19 И исус сказал Ахану: – Сын мой, воздай славу Господу, Богу Израиля, и восхвали Его! Расскажи мне, что ты сделал, не скрывай от меня ничего.

And Joshua saith unto Achan, `My son, put, I pray thee, honour on Jehovah, God of Israel, and give to Him thanks, and declare, I pray thee, to me, what thou hast done -- hide not from me.'

20 А хан ответил: – Это правда! Я согрешил перед Господом, Богом Израиля. Вот что я сделал:

And Achan answereth Joshua, and saith, `Truly I have sinned against Jehovah, God of Israel, and thus and thus I have done;

21 у видев среди добычи прекрасную верхнюю одежду из Шинара, двести шекелей серебра и слиток золота весом в пятьдесят шекелей, я позарился на них и взял себе. Они спрятаны в земле у меня в шатре; серебро лежит в самом низу.

and I see among the spoil a goodly robe of Shinar, and two hundred shekels of silver, and one wedge of gold, whose weight fifty shekels, and I desire them, and take them; and lo, they hid in the earth, in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.'

22 Т огда Иисус послал людей, они побежали в шатер и увидели, что эти вещи на самом деле были спрятаны у него в шатре, серебро лежало в самом низу.

And Joshua sendeth messengers, and they run unto the tent, and lo, it is hidden in his tent, and the silver under it;

23 О ни взяли их из его шатра, принесли к Иисусу и ко всем израильтянам и разложили перед Господом.

and they take them out of the midst of the tent, and bring them in unto Joshua, and unto all the sons of Israel, and pour them out before Jehovah.

24 И исус и с ним все израильтяне взяли Ахана, правнука Зераха, серебро, верхнюю одежду, золотой слиток, его сыновей и дочерей, его волов, ослов и овец, его шатер и все, что у него было, и вывели их в долину Ахор.

And Joshua taketh Achan son of Zerah, and the silver, and the robe, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his ox, and his ass, and his flock, and his tent, and all that he hath, and all Israel with him, and they cause them to go up the valley of Achor.

25 И исус сказал: – Почему ты навел на нас эту беду? Сегодня Господь наведет беду на тебя. И все израильтяне забили его камнями. После того, как забили камнями и остальных, они сожгли их.

And Joshua saith, `What! thou hast troubled us! -- Jehovah doth trouble thee this day;' and all Israel cast stones at him, and they burn them with fire, and they stone them with stones,

26 Н ад Аханом они набросали большую груду камней, которая осталась до сегодняшнего дня. После этого Господь оставил Свой пылающий гнев. Поэтому то место зовется долиною Ахор и до сих пор.

and they raise up over him a great heap of stones unto this day, and Jehovah turneth back from the heat of His anger, therefore hath called the name of that place `Valley of Achor' till this day.
