Words of Lemuel a king, a declaration that his mother taught him:

2 « О сын мой, сын моего чрева, о сын мой – ответ на молитвы мои,

`What, my son? and what, son of my womb? And what, son of my vows?

3 н е давай своей силы женщинам, мощи своей – губительницам царей.

Give not to women thy strength, And thy ways to wiping away of kings.

4 Н е царям, Лемуил, не царям пить вино, не правителям жаждать хмельного питья,

Not for kings, O Lemuel, Not for kings, to drink wine, And for princes a desire of strong drink.

5 ч тобы, напившись, они не забыли закона и не лишили всех угнетенных прав.

Lest he drink, and forget the decree, And change the judgment of any of the sons of affliction.

6 Д айте хмельное питье погибающим, вино – тем, кто скорбит жестоко;

Give strong drink to the perishing, And wine to the bitter in soul,

7 п усть выпьют и бедность свою забудут и не вспомнят больше своих невзгод.

He drinketh, and forgetteth his poverty, And his misery he remembereth not again.

8 Г овори за тех, кто не может сказать сам за себя, для защиты прав всех обездоленных.

Open thy mouth for the dumb, For the right of all sons of change.

9 Г овори, отстаивая справедливость; защищай права бедных и нищих». Добродетельная жена

Open thy mouth, judge righteously, Both the cause of the poor and needy!'

10 Х орошая жена – кто ее найдет? Камней драгоценных она дороже.

A woman of worth who doth find? Yea, far above rubies her price.

11 В сем сердцем верит ей муж, с ней он не будет в убытке.

The heart of her husband hath trusted in her, And spoil he lacketh not.

12 О на приносит ему добро, а не зло во все дни своей жизни.

She hath done him good, and not evil, All days of her life.

13 О на выбирает шерсть и лен и охотно трудится своими руками.

She hath sought wool and flax, And with delight she worketh her hands.

14 О на подобна купеческим кораблям – издалека добывает свой хлеб.

She hath been as ships of the merchant, From afar she bringeth in her bread.

15 З атемно она встает, готовит пищу своей семье и дает служанкам работу.

Yea, she riseth while yet night, And giveth food to her household, And a portion to her damsels.

16 П рисматривает поле и покупает его; на заработанное ею насаждает виноградник.

She hath considered a field, and taketh it, From the fruit of her hands she hath planted a vineyard.

17 С жаром принимается за работу, ее руки крепки для ее трудов.

She hath girded with might her loins, And doth strengthen her arms.

18 О на понимает, что торговля ее доходна; не гаснет ночью ее светильник.

She hath perceived when her merchandise good, Her lamp is not extinguished in the night.

19 Р уки свои на прялку кладет, пальцы ее держат веретено.

Her hands she hath sent forth on a spindle, And her hands have held a distaff.

20 Д ля бедняка она открывает ладонь и протягивает руки нуждающимся.

Her hand she hath spread forth to the poor, Yea, her hands she sent forth to the needy.

21 В снег не боится за свою семью: вся ее семья одевается в алые одежды.

She is not afraid of her household from snow, For all her household are clothed scarlet.

22 О на делает покрывала для своей постели, одевается в тонкий лен и пурпур.

Ornamental coverings she hath made for herself, Silk and purple her clothing.

23 М ужа ее уважают у городских ворот – со старейшинами страны место его.

Known in the gates is her husband, In his sitting with elders of the land.

24 О на делает льняные одежды и продает их и поставляет купцам пояса.

Linen garments she hath made, and selleth, And a girdle she hath given to the merchant.

25 О девается силою и достоинством и весело смотрит она в завтрашний день.

Strength and honour her clothing, And she rejoiceth at a latter day.

26 О на говорит с мудростью, и доброе наставление на ее языке.

Her mouth she hath opened in wisdom, And the law of kindness on her tongue.

27 О на смотрит за делами своей семьи, хлеб безделья она не ест.

She watching the ways of her household, And bread of sloth she eateth not.

28 Е е дети встают и благословенной ее зовут, также муж – и хвалит ее:

Her sons have risen up, and pronounce her happy, Her husband, and he praiseth her,

29 « Много есть хороших жен, но ты превзошла их всех».

`Many the daughters who have done worthily, Thou hast gone up above them all.'

30 П релесть обманчива и красота мимолетна, но женщина, что боится Господа, достойна хвалы.

The grace false, and the beauty vain, A woman fearing Jehovah, she may boast herself.

31 Д айте ей награду, которую она заслужила, пусть дела ее славят ее у городских ворот.

Give ye to her of the fruit of her hands, And her works do praise her in the gates!
