1 O íd esta palabra, vacas de Basán, que estáis en el monte de Samaria, que oprimís a los pobres y quebrantáis a los menesterosos, que decís a vuestros maridos: Traed, y bebamos.

Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, Who in the mountain of Samaria, Who are oppressing the poor, Who are bruising the needy, Who are saying to their lords: `Bring in, and we do drink.'

2 E l Señor Jehová juró por su santidad: He aquí, vienen sobre vosotras días en que os levantarán con ganchos, y a vuestros descendientes con anzuelos de pescador;

Sworn hath the Lord Jehovah by His holiness, That lo, days are coming upon you, And he hath taken you away with hooks, And your posterity with fish-hooks.

3 y saldréis por las brechas una tras otra, y seréis echadas hacia Harmona, dice Jehová. Aunque castigado, Israel no aprende

And breaches ye go forth, A woman over-against her, And ye have cast down the high place, An affirmation of Jehovah.

4 I d a Betel a prevaricar; aumentad en Gilgal vuestras rebeldías, y traed de mañana vuestros sacrificios, y vuestros diezmos el tercer día.

Enter ye Beth-El, and transgress, At Gilgal multiply transgression, And bring in every morning your sacrifices, Every third year your tithes.

5 Y ofreced sacrificio de alabanza con pan leudado, y proclamad, publicad ofrendas voluntarias, pues que así lo queréis, hijos de Israel, dice el Señor Jehová.

And perfume with leaven a thank-offering, And proclaim willing gifts, sound ye! For so ye have loved, O sons of Israel, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

6 Y o, por mi parte, os hice estar a diente limpio en todas vuestras ciudades, y hubo falta de pan en todos vuestros pueblos; mas no os volvisteis a mí, dice Jehová.

And I also -- I have given to you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, And lack of bread in all your places, And ye have not turned back unto Me, an affirmation of Jehovah.

7 T ambién os detuve la lluvia desde tres meses antes de la siega; e hice llover sobre una ciudad, y sobre otra ciudad no hice llover; sobre una parte llovió, y la parte sobre la cual no llovió, se secó.

And I also -- I have withheld from you the rain. While yet three months to harvest, And I have sent rain on one city, And on another city I do not send rain, One portion is rained on, And the portion on which it raineth not withereth.

8 Y venían dos o tres ciudades a una ciudad para beber agua, y no se saciaban; con todo, no os volvisteis a mí, dice Jehová.

And wandered have two or three cities, Unto the same city to drink water, And they are not satisfied, And ye have not turned back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.

9 O s herí con tizón y con añublo; la langosta devoró vuestros muchos huertos y vuestras viñas, y vuestros higuerales y vuestros olivares; pero nunca os volvisteis a mí, dice Jehová.

I have smitten you with blasting and with mildew, The abundance of your gardens and of your vineyards, And of your figs, and of your olives, Eat doth the palmer-worm, And ye have not turned back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.

10 E nvié contra vosotros mortandad tal como en Egipto; maté a espada a vuestros jóvenes, di al cautiverio vuestros caballos, e hice subir el hedor de vuestros campamentos hasta vuestras narices; mas no os volvisteis a mí, dice Jehová.

I have sent among you pestilence by the way of Egypt, I have slain by sword your choice ones, With your captive horses, And I cause the stink of your camps to come up -- even into your nostrils, And ye have not turned back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.

11 O s trastorné como cuando Dios trastornó a Sodoma y a Gomorra, y fuisteis como tizón escapado del fuego; mas no os volvisteis a mí, dice Jehová.

I have overturned among you, Like the overturn by God of Sodom and Gomorrah, And ye are as a brand delivered from a burning, And ye have not turned back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.

12 P or tanto, de esta manera te haré a ti, oh Israel; y porque te he de hacer esto, prepárate para venir al encuentro de tu Dios, oh Israel.

Therefore, thus I do to thee, O Israel, at last, Because this I do to thee, Prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

13 P orque he aquí, el que forma los montes, y crea el viento, y pone al desnudo ante el hombre los pensamientos de éste; el que hace de las tinieblas mañana, y pasa sobre las alturas de la tierra; Jehová Dios de los ejércitos es su nombre.

For, lo, the former of mountains, and creator of wind, And the declarer to man what His thought, He is making dawn obscurity, And is treading on high places of earth, Jehovah, God of Hosts, His name!
