1 V ino palabra de Jehová por segunda vez a Jonás, diciendo:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jonah a second time, saying,

2 L evántate y ve a Nínive, aquella gran ciudad, y proclama en ella el mensaje que yo te diré.

`Rise, go unto Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim unto it the proclamation that I am speaking unto thee;'

3 Y se levantó Jonás, y fue a Nínive conforme a la palabra de Jehová. Y era Nínive una ciudad grande en extremo, de un recorrido de tres días.

and Jonah riseth, and he goeth unto Nineveh, according to the word of Jehovah. And Nineveh hath been a great city before God, a journey of three days.

4 Y comenzó Jonás a entrar por la ciudad, e hizo el recorrido de un día, y predicaba diciendo: De aquí a cuarenta días, Nínive será destruida.

And Jonah beginneth to go in to the city a journey of one day, and proclaimeth, and saith, `Yet forty days -- and Nineveh is overturned.'

5 Y los hombres de Nínive creyeron a Dios, y pregonaron un ayuno, y se vistieron de saco desde el mayor hasta el menor.

And the men of Nineveh believe in God, and proclaim a fast, and put on sackcloth, from their greatest even unto their least,

6 Y llegó la noticia hasta el rey de Nínive, y se levantó de su trono, se despojó de su vestido, y se cubrió de saco y se sentó sobre ceniza.

seeing the word doth come unto the king of Nineveh, and he riseth from his throne, and removeth his honourable robe from off him, and spreadeth out sackcloth, and sitteth on the ashes,

7 E hizo proclamar y anunciar en Nínive, por decreto del rey y de sus nobles, diciendo: Hombres y bestias de carga, ganado mayor y menor, no prueben bocado; no se les dé alimento, ni beban agua;

and he crieth and saith in Nineveh by a decree of the king and his great ones, saying, `Man and beast, herd and flock -- let them not taste anything, let them not feed, even water let them not drink;

8 s ino cúbranse de saco hombres y animales, y clamen a Dios fuertemente; y conviértase cada uno de su mal camino, de la violencia que hay en sus manos.

and cover themselves sackcloth let man and beast, and let them call unto God mightily, and let them turn back each from his evil way, and from the violence that in their hands.

9 ¿ Quién sabe si se volverá y se arrepentirá Dios, y se apartará del ardor de su ira, y no pereceremos?

Who knoweth? He doth turn back, and God hath repented, and hath turned back from the heat of His anger, and we do not perish.'

10 Y vio Dios lo que hicieron, que se convirtieron de su mal camino; y se arrepintió del mal que había dicho que les haría, y no lo hizo.

And God seeth their works, that they have turned back from their evil way, and God repenteth of the evil that He spake of doing to them, and he hath not done.
