1 D espués de esto, Jesús andaba por Galilea, pues no deseaba andar por Judea porque los Judíos Lo querían matar.

And Jesus was walking after these things in Galilee, for he did not wish to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him,

2 L a fiesta de los Judíos, la de los Tabernáculos, estaba cerca.

and the feast of the Jews was nigh -- that of tabernacles --

3 P or eso los hermanos de Jesús Le dijeron: “Sal de aquí, y vete a Judea para que también Tus discípulos vean las obras que Tú haces.

his brethren, therefore, said unto him, `Remove hence, and go away to Judea, that thy disciples also may behold thy works that thou dost;

4 P orque nadie hace nada en secreto cuando procura ser conocido en público. Si haces estas cosas, muéstrate al mundo.”

for no one in secret doth anything, and himself seeketh to be in public; if thou dost these things -- manifest thyself to the world;'

5 P orque ni aun Sus hermanos creían en El.

for not even were his brethren believing in him.

6 E ntonces Jesús les dijo: “Mi tiempo aún no ha llegado, pero el tiempo de ustedes es siempre oportuno.

Jesus, therefore, saith to them, `My time is not yet present, but your time is always ready;

7 E l mundo no puede odiarlos a ustedes, pero Me odia a Mí, porque Yo doy testimonio de él, que sus acciones son malas.

the world is not able to hate you, but me it doth hate, because I testify concerning it that its works are evil.

8 S uban ustedes a la fiesta; Yo no subo a esta fiesta porque Mi tiempo aún no se ha cumplido.”

Ye -- go ye up to this feast; I do not yet go up to this feast, because my time hath not yet been fulfilled;'

9 Y habiéndoles dicho esto, se quedó en Galilea. Jesús Sube a la Fiesta en Secreto

and saying these things to them, he remained in Galilee.

10 P ero cuando Sus hermanos subieron a la fiesta, entonces Jesús también subió; no abiertamente, sino en secreto.

And when his brethren went up, then also he himself went up to the feast, not manifestly, but as in secret;

11 P or eso los Judíos Lo buscaban en la fiesta y decían: “¿Dónde está Ese?”

the Jews, therefore, were seeking him, in the feast, and said, `Where is that one?'

12 Y había mucha murmuración entre la gente acerca de El. Unos decían: “El es bueno.” Otros decían: “No, al contrario, extravía a la gente.”

and there was much murmuring about him among the multitudes, some indeed said -- `He is good;' and others said, `No, but he leadeth astray the multitude;'

13 S in embargo, nadie hablaba abiertamente de El por miedo a los Judíos. Jesús Enseña Durante la Fiesta

no one, however, was speaking freely about him, through fear of the Jews.

14 A la mitad de la fiesta, Jesús subió al templo y se puso a enseñar.

And it being now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up to the temple, and he was teaching,

15 E ntonces los Judíos se maravillaban, diciendo: “¿Cómo puede Este saber de letras sin haber estudiado?”

and the Jews were wondering, saying, `How hath this one known letters -- not having learned?'

16 J esús entonces les respondió: “Mi enseñanza no es Mía, sino del que Me envió.

Jesus answered them and said, `My teaching is not mine, but His who sent me;

17 S i alguno está dispuesto a hacer la voluntad de Dios, sabrá si Mi enseñanza es de Dios o si hablo de Mí mismo.

if any one may will to do His will, he shall know concerning the teaching, whether it is of God, or -- I do speak from myself.

18 E l que habla de sí mismo busca su propia gloria; pero Aquél que busca la gloria del que Lo envió, El es verdadero y no hay injusticia en El.

`He who is speaking from himself his own glory doth seek, but he who is seeking the glory of him who sent him, this one is true, and unrighteousness is not in him;

19 “ ¿No les dio Moisés la Ley, y sin embargo ninguno de ustedes la cumple ? ¿Por qué Me quieren matar ?”

hath not Moses given you the law? and none of you doth the law; why me do ye seek to kill?'

20 L a multitud contestó: “¡Tienes un demonio! ¿Quién Te quiere matar?”

The multitude answered and said, `Thou hast a demon, who doth seek to kill thee?'

21 J esús les respondió: “Una sola obra hice y todos se admiran.

Jesus answered and said to them, `One work I did, and ye all wonder,

22 P or eso Moisés les ha dado la circuncisión (no porque sea de Moisés, sino de los padres ), y en el día de reposo ustedes circuncidan al hombre.

because of this, Moses hath given you the circumcision -- not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers -- and on a sabbath ye circumcise a man;

23 Y si para no violar la Ley de Moisés un hombre recibe la circuncisión aún en el día de reposo, ¿ por qué están enojados conmigo porque sané por completo a un hombre en el día de reposo?

if a man doth receive circumcision on a sabbath that the law of Moses may not be broken, are ye wroth with me that I made a man all whole on a sabbath?

24 N o juzguen por la apariencia, sino juzguen con juicio justo.”

judge not according to appearance, but the righteous judgment judge.'

25 E ntonces algunos de Jerusalén decían: “¿No es Este al que procuran matar?

Certain, therefore, of the Jerusalemites said, `Is not this he whom they are seeking to kill?

26 Y vean, habla en público y no Le dicen nada. ¿No será que en verdad los gobernantes reconocen que Este es el Cristo (el Mesías)?

and, lo, he doth speak freely, and they say nothing to him; did the rulers at all know truly that this is truly the Christ?

27 S in embargo, nosotros sabemos de dónde es Este; pero cuando venga el Cristo, nadie sabrá de dónde es.”

but this one -- we have known whence he is; and the Christ, when he doth come, no one doth know whence he is.'

28 J esús entonces, mientras enseñaba en el templo, exclamó en alta voz: “Ustedes Me conocen y saben de dónde soy. Yo no he venido por decisión propia, pero Aquél que Me envió es verdadero, a quien ustedes no conocen.

Jesus cried, therefore, in the temple, teaching and saying, `Ye have both known me, and ye have known whence I am; and I have not come of myself, but He who sent me is true, whom ye have not known;

29 Y o Lo conozco, porque procedo de El, y El Me envió.”

and I have known Him, because I am from Him, and He did send me.'

30 P rocuraban, pues, prender a Jesús; pero nadie Le echó mano porque todavía no había llegado Su hora.

They were seeking, therefore, to seize him, and no one laid the hand on him, because his hour had not yet come,

31 P ero muchos de la multitud creyeron en El, y decían: “Cuando el Cristo venga, ¿acaso hará más señales (milagros) que las que Este ha hecho?”

and many out of the multitude did believe in him, and said -- `The Christ -- when he may come -- will he do more signs than these that this one did?'

32 L os Fariseos oyeron a la multitud murmurando estas cosas acerca de El. Entonces los principales sacerdotes y los Fariseos enviaron guardias para que Lo prendieran.

The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they may take him;

33 P ero Jesús dijo: “Por un poco más de tiempo estoy con ustedes; después voy a Aquél que Me envió.

Jesus, therefore, said to them, `Yet a little time I am with you, and I go away unto Him who sent me;

34 M e buscarán y no Me hallarán; y donde Yo esté, ustedes no pueden ir.”

ye will seek me, and ye shall not find; and where I am, ye are not able to come.'

35 D ecían entonces los Judíos entre sí: “¿Adónde piensa irse Este que no Lo podamos encontrar? ¿Será acaso que quiere irse a la dispersión entre los Griegos y enseñar a los Griegos?

The Jews, therefore, said among themselves, `Whither is this one about to go that we shall not find him? -- to the dispersion of the Greeks is he about to go? and to teach the Greeks;

36 ¿ Qué quiere decir esto que ha dicho: ‘Me buscarán y no Me hallarán; y donde Yo esté, ustedes no podrán ir ’?” La Gran Invitación

what is this word that he said, Ye will seek me, and ye shall not find? and, Where I am, ye are not able to come?'

37 E n el último día, el gran día de la fiesta, Jesús puesto en pie, exclamó en alta voz: “Si alguien tiene sed, que venga a Mí y beba.

And in the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, `If any one doth thirst, let him come unto me and drink;

38 E l que cree en Mí, como ha dicho la Escritura: ‘De lo más profundo de su ser brotarán ríos de agua viva.’”

he who is believing in me, according as the Writing said, Rivers out of his belly shall flow of living water;'

39 P ero El decía esto del Espíritu, que los que habían creído en El habían de recibir; porque el Espíritu no había sido dado todavía, pues Jesús aún no había sido glorificado.

and this he said of the Spirit, which those believing in him were about to receive; for not yet was the Holy Spirit, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

40 E ntonces algunos de la multitud, cuando oyeron estas palabras, decían: “Verdaderamente Este es el Profeta.”

Many, therefore out of the multitude, having heard the word, said, `This is truly the Prophet;'

41 O tros decían: “Este es el Cristo (el Mesías).” Pero otros decían: “¿Acaso el Cristo ha de venir de Galilea ?

others said, `This is the Christ;' and others said, `Why, out of Galilee doth the Christ come?

42 ¿ No ha dicho la Escritura que el Cristo viene de la descendencia de David, y de Belén (Casa del Pan), la aldea de donde era David?”

Did not the Writing say, that out of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem -- the village where David was -- the Christ doth come?'

43 A sí que surgió una división entre la multitud por causa de El.

A division, therefore, arose among the multitude because of him.

44 Y algunos de ellos querían prender a Jesús, pero nadie Le echó mano. Los Guardias Confundidos

And certain of them were willing to seize him, but no one laid hands on him;

45 E ntonces los guardias vinieron a los principales sacerdotes y Fariseos, y éstos les dijeron: “¿Por qué no Lo trajeron?”

the officers came, therefore, unto the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, `Wherefore did ye not bring him?'

46 L os guardias respondieron: “¡Jamás hombre alguno ha hablado como este hombre habla!”

The officers answered, `Never so spake man -- as this man.'

47 E ntonces los Fariseos les contestaron: “¿Es que también ustedes se han dejado engañar ?

The Pharisees, therefore, answered them, `Have ye also been led astray?

48 ¿ Acaso ha creído en El alguien de los gobernantes o de los Fariseos?

did any one out of the rulers believe in him? or out of the Pharisees?

49 P ero esta multitud que no conoce de la Ley, maldita es.”

but this multitude, that is not knowing the law, is accursed.'

50 N icodemo, el que había venido a Jesús antes, y que era uno de ellos, les dijo:

Nicodemus saith unto them -- he who came by night unto him -- being one of them,

51 “ ¿Acaso juzga nuestra Ley a un hombre a menos que le oiga primero y sepa lo que hace?”

`Doth our law judge the man, if it may not hear from him first, and know what he doth?'

52 E llos le respondieron: “¿Es que tú también eres de Galilea ? Investiga, y verás que ningún profeta sale de Galilea.”

They answered and said to him, `Art thou also out of Galilee? search and see, that a prophet out of Galilee hath not risen;'

53 Y cada uno se fue a su casa.

and each one went on to his house, but Jesus went on to the mount of the Olives.
