1 A nd having called to him his twelve disciples, he gave to them power over unclean spirits, so as to be casting them out, and to be healing every sickness, and every malady.

Llamando a Sus doce discípulos, Jesús les dio poder (autoridad) sobre los espíritus inmundos para expulsarlos y para sanar toda enfermedad y toda dolencia.

2 A nd of the twelve apostles the names are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James of Zebedee, and John his brother;

Los nombres de los doce apóstoles son éstos: primero, Simón, llamado Pedro, y Andrés su hermano; y Jacobo (Santiago), el hijo de Zebedeo, y Juan su hermano;

3 P hilip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax-gatherer; James of Alpheus, and Lebbeus who was surnamed Thaddeus;

Felipe y Bartolomé; Tomás y Mateo, el recaudador de impuestos; Jacobo (Santiago), el hijo de Alfeo, y Tadeo;

4 S imon the Cananite, and Judas Iscariot, who did also deliver him up.

Simón el Cananita (el Zelote), y Judas Iscariote, el que también Lo entregó. Jesús Envía a los Doce

5 T hese twelve did Jesus send forth, having given command to them, saying, `To the way of the nations go not away, and into a city of the Samaritans go not in,

A estos doce envió Jesús después de instruirlos, diciendo: “No vayan por el camino de los Gentiles ni entren en ninguna ciudad de los Samaritanos.

6 a nd be going rather unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Sino vayan más bien a las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel.

7 ` And, going on, proclaim saying that, the reign of the heavens hath come nigh;

Y cuando vayan, prediquen diciendo: ‘El reino de los cielos se ha acercado.’

8 i nfirm ones be healing, lepers be cleansing, dead be raising, demons be casting out -- freely ye did receive, freely give.

Sanen enfermos, resuciten muertos, limpien leprosos, expulsen demonios; de gracia recibieron, den de gracia.

9 ` Provide not gold, nor silver, nor brass in your girdles,

No se provean de oro, ni de plata, ni de cobre para llevar en sus cintos,

10 n or scrip for the way, nor two coats, nor sandals, nor staff -- for the workman is worthy of his nourishment.

ni de alforja para el camino, ni de dos túnicas, ni de sandalias, ni de bordón; porque el obrero es digno de su sostén.

11 ` And into whatever city or village ye may enter, inquire ye who in it is worthy, and there abide, till ye may go forth.

En cualquier ciudad o aldea donde entren, averigüen quién es digno en ella, y quédense allí hasta que se marchen.

12 A nd coming to the house salute it,

Al entrar en la casa, denle su saludo de paz.

13 a nd if indeed the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it; and if it be not worthy, let your peace turn back to you.

Y si la casa es digna, que su saludo de paz venga sobre ella; pero si no es digna, que su saludo de paz se vuelva a ustedes.

14 ` And whoever may not receive you nor hear your words, coming forth from that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet,

Cualquiera que no los reciba ni oiga sus palabras, al salir de esa casa o de esa ciudad, sacudan el polvo de sus pies.

15 v erily I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.

En verdad les digo que en el día del juicio será más tolerable el castigo para la tierra de Sodoma y Gomorra que para esa ciudad. Advertencias a los Doce

16 ` Lo, I do send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves, be ye therefore wise as the serpents, and simple as the doves.

“Miren, Yo los envío como ovejas en medio de lobos; por tanto, sean astutos como las serpientes e inocentes como las palomas.

17 A nd, take ye heed of men, for they will give you up to sanhedrims, and in their synagogues they will scourge you,

Pero cuídense de los hombres, porque los entregarán a los tribunales (sanedrines) y los azotarán en sus sinagogas;

18 a nd before governors and kings ye shall be brought for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations.

y hasta serán llevados delante de gobernadores y reyes por Mi causa, como un testimonio a ellos y a los Gentiles.

19 ` And whenever they may deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye may speak, for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak;

Pero cuando los entreguen, no se preocupen de cómo o qué hablarán; porque a esa hora se les dará lo que habrán de hablar.

20 f or ye are not the speakers, but the Spirit of your Father that is speaking in you.

Porque no son ustedes los que hablan, sino el Espíritu de su Padre que habla en ustedes.

21 ` And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and father child, and children shall rise up against parents, and shall put them to death,

“El hermano entregará a la muerte al hermano, y el padre al hijo; y los hijos se levantarán contra los padres, y les causarán la muerte.

22 a nd ye shall be hated by all because of my name, but he who hath endured to the end, he shall be saved.

Y serán odiados de todos por causa de Mi nombre, pero el que persevere hasta el fin, ése será salvo.

23 ` And whenever they may persecute you in this city, flee to the other, for verily I say to you, ye may not have completed the cities of Israel till the Son of Man may come.

Pero cuando los persigan en esta ciudad, huyan a la otra; porque en verdad les digo, que no terminarán de recorrer las ciudades de Israel antes que venga el Hijo del Hombre. Palabras de Aliento a los Doce

24 ` A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his lord;

“Un discípulo no está por encima del maestro, ni un siervo por encima de su señor.

25 s ufficient to the disciple that he may be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord; if the master of the house they did call Beelzeboul, how much more those of his household?

Le basta al discípulo llegar a ser como su maestro, y al siervo como su señor. Si al dueño de la casa lo han llamado Beelzebú, ¡cuánto más a los de su casa!

26 ` Ye may not, therefore, fear them, for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed, and hid, that shall not be known;

“ Así que no les tengan miedo, porque nada hay encubierto que no haya de ser revelado, ni oculto que no haya de saberse.

27 t hat which I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light, and that which you hear at the ear, proclaim on the house-tops.

Lo que les digo en la oscuridad, háblenlo en la luz; y lo que oyen al oído, proclámenlo desde las azoteas.

28 ` And be not afraid of those killing the body, and are not able to kill the soul, but fear rather Him who is able both soul and body to destroy in gehenna.

No teman a los que matan el cuerpo, pero no pueden matar el alma; más bien teman a Aquél que puede hacer perecer tanto el alma como el cuerpo en el infierno.

29 ` Are not two sparrows sold for an assar? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father;

¿No se venden dos pajarillos por una monedita ? Y sin embargo, ni uno de ellos caerá a tierra sin permitirlo el Padre.

30 a nd of you -- even the hairs of the head are all numbered;

Y hasta los cabellos de la cabeza de ustedes están todos contados.

31 b e not therefore afraid, than many sparrows ye are better.

Así que no teman; ustedes valen más que muchos pajarillos.

32 ` Every one, therefore, who shall confess in me before men, I also will confess in him before my Father who is in the heavens;

“Por tanto, todo el que Me confiese delante de los hombres, Yo también lo confesaré delante de Mi Padre que está en los cielos.

33 a nd whoever shall deny me before men, I also will deny him before my Father who is in the heavens.

Pero cualquiera que Me niegue delante de los hombres, Yo también lo negaré delante de Mi Padre que está en los cielos. El Costo del Discipulado

34 ` Ye may not suppose that I came to put peace on the earth; I did not come to put peace, but a sword;

“ No piensen que vine a traer paz a la tierra; no vine a traer paz, sino espada.

35 f or I came to set a man at variance against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,

Porque vine a poner al hombre contra su padre, a la hija contra su madre, y a la nuera contra su suegra;

36 a nd the enemies of a man are those of his household.

y los enemigos del hombre serán los de su misma casa.

37 ` He who is loving father or mother above me, is not worthy of me, and he who is loving son or daughter above me, is not worthy of me,

“El que ama al padre o a la madre más que a Mí, no es digno de Mí; y el que ama al hijo o a la hija más que a Mí, no es digno de Mí.

38 a nd whoever doth not receive his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me.

Y el que no toma su cruz y sigue en pos de Mí, no es digno de Mí.

39 ` He who found his life shall lose it, and he who lost his life for my sake shall find it.

El que ha hallado su vida, la perderá; y el que ha perdido su vida por Mi causa, la hallará.

40 ` He who is receiving you doth receive me, and he who is receiving me doth receive Him who sent me,

“El que los recibe a ustedes, Me recibe a Mí; y el que Me recibe a Mí, recibe al que Me envió.

41 h e who is receiving a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet's reward, and he who is receiving a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, shall receive a righteous man's reward,

El que recibe a un profeta como profeta, recibirá recompensa de profeta; y el que recibe a un justo como justo, recibirá recompensa de justo.

42 a nd whoever may give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say to you, he may not lose his reward.'

Y cualquiera que como discípulo dé a beber aunque sólo sea un vaso de agua fría a uno de estos pequeños, en verdad les digo que no perderá su recompensa.”
