1 A nd the king cometh in, and Haman, to drink with Esther the queen,

El rey y Amán fueron al banquete a beber vino con la reina Ester.

2 a nd the king saith to Esther also on the second day, during the banquet of wine, `What thy petition, Esther, O queen? and it is given to thee; and what thy request? unto the half of the kingdom -- and it is done.'

También el segundo día, mientras bebían vino en el banquete, el rey dijo a Ester: “¿Cuál es tu petición, reina Ester? Te será concedida. ¿Cuál es tu deseo? Hasta la mitad del reino se te dará.”

3 A nd Esther the queen answereth and saith, `If I have found grace in thine eyes, O king, and if to the king good, let my life be given to me at my petition, and my people at my request;

La reina Ester respondió: “Si he hallado gracia ante sus ojos, oh rey, y si le place al rey, que me sea concedida la vida según mi petición, y la de mi pueblo según mi deseo;

4 f or we have been sold, I and my people, to cut off, to slay, and to destroy; and if for men-servants and for maid-servants we had been sold I had kept silent -- but the adversity is not equal to the loss of the king.'

porque hemos sido vendidos, yo y mi pueblo, para el exterminio, para la matanza y para la destrucción. Y si sólo hubiéramos sido vendidos como esclavos o esclavas, hubiera permanecido callada, porque el mal no se podría comparar con el disgusto del rey.”

5 A nd the king Ahasuerus saith, yea, he saith to Esther the queen, `Who he -- this one? and where this one? -- he whose heart hath filled him to do so?'

Entonces el rey Asuero preguntó a la reina Ester: “¿Quién es, y dónde está el que pretende hacer tal cosa?”

6 A nd Esther saith, `The man -- adversary and enemy -- this wicked Haman;' and Haman hath been afraid at the presence of the king and of the queen.

Ester respondió: “¡El adversario y enemigo es este malvado Amán!” Entonces Amán se sobrecogió de terror delante del rey y de la reina.

7 A nd the king hath risen, in his fury, from the banquet of wine, unto the garden of the house, and Haman hath remained to seek for his life from Esther the queen, for he hath seen that evil hath been determined against him by the king.

Y dejando de beber vino, el rey se levantó lleno de furor y salió al jardín del palacio. Pero Amán se quedó para rogar por su vida a la reina Ester, porque vio que el mal había sido determinado contra él por el rey.

8 A nd the king hath turned back out of the garden of the house unto the house of the banquet of wine, and Haman is falling on the couch on which Esther, and the king saith, `Also to subdue the queen with me in the house?' the word hath gone out from the mouth of the king, and the face of Haman they have covered.

Cuando el rey volvió del jardín del palacio al lugar donde estaban bebiendo vino, Amán se había dejado caer sobre el lecho donde se hallaba Ester. Entonces el rey dijo: “¿Aún se atreve a hacer violencia a la reina estando yo en la casa?” Al salir la palabra de la boca del rey, cubrieron el rostro a Amán.

9 A nd Harbonah, one of the eunuchs, saith before the king, `Also lo, the tree that Haman made for Mordecai, who spake good for the king, is standing in the house of Haman, in height fifty cubits;' and the king saith, `Hang him upon it.'

Entonces Harbona, uno de los eunucos que estaban delante del rey, dijo: “Precisamente, la horca de 22. 5 metros de alto está en la casa de Amán, la cual Amán había preparado para Mardoqueo, quien había hablado bien en favor del rey.” “Ahórquenlo en ella,” ordenó el rey.

10 A nd they hang Haman upon the tree that he had prepared for Mordecai, and the fury of the king hath lain down.

Colgaron, pues, a Amán en la horca que había preparado para Mardoqueo, y se aplacó el furor del rey.
