Mejor es el pobre que anda en su integridad Que el de labios perversos y necio.

2 A lso, without knowledge the soul not good, And the hasty in feet is sinning.

Tampoco es bueno para una persona carecer de conocimiento, Y el que se apresura con los pies peca.

3 T he folly of man perverteth his way, And against Jehovah is his heart wroth.

La insensatez del hombre pervierte su camino, Y su corazón se irrita contra el Señor.

4 W ealth addeth many friends, And the poor from his neighbour is separated.

La riqueza añade muchos amigos, Pero el pobre es separado de su amigo.

5 A false witness is not acquitted, Whoso breatheth out lies is not delivered.

El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo, Y el que cuenta mentiras no escapará.

6 M any entreat the face of the noble, And all have made friendship to a man of gifts.

Muchos buscan el favor del generoso, Y todo hombre es amigo del que da.

7 A ll the brethren of the poor have hated him, Surely also his friends have been far from him, He is pursuing words -- they are not!

Todos los hermanos del pobre lo aborrecen, ¡Cuánto más sus amigos se alejarán de él! Los persigue con palabras, pero ellos se han ido.

8 W hoso is getting heart is loving his soul, He is keeping understanding to find good.

El que adquiere cordura ama su alma; El que guarda la prudencia hallará el bien.

9 A false witness is not acquitted, And whoso breatheth out lies perisheth.

El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo, Y el que cuenta mentiras perecerá.

10 L uxury is not comely for a fool, Much less for a servant to rule among princes.

Al necio no conviene la vida de lujo; Mucho menos a un siervo gobernar a los príncipes.

11 T he wisdom of a man hath deferred his anger, And his glory to pass over transgression.

La discreción del hombre le hace lento para la ira, Y su gloria es pasar por alto una ofensa.

12 T he wrath of a king a growl as of a young lion, And as dew on the herb his good-will.

Como rugido de león es la ira del rey, Y su favor como rocío sobre la hierba.

13 A calamity to his father a foolish son, And the contentions of a wife a continual dropping.

El hijo necio es ruina de su padre, Y gotera constante las contiendas de una esposa.

14 H ouse and wealth the inheritance of fathers, And from Jehovah an understanding wife.

Casa y riqueza son herencia de los padres, Pero la mujer prudente viene del Señor.

15 S loth causeth deep sleep to fall, And an indolent soul doth hunger.

La pereza hace caer en profundo sueño, Y el alma ociosa sufrirá hambre.

16 W hoso is keeping the command is keeping his soul, Whoso is despising His ways dieth.

El que guarda el mandamiento guarda su alma, Pero el que desprecia sus caminos morirá.

17 W hoso is lending Jehovah is favouring the poor, And his deed He repayeth to him.

El que se apiada del pobre presta al Señor, Y El lo recompensará por su buena obra.

18 C hastise thy son, for there is hope, And to put him to death lift not up thy soul.

Disciplina a tu hijo mientras hay esperanza, Pero no desee tu alma causarle la muerte.

19 A man of great wrath is bearing punishment, For, if thou dost deliver, yet again thou dost add.

El hombre de gran ira llevará el castigo, Porque si tú lo rescatas, tendrás que hacerlo de nuevo.

20 H ear counsel and receive instruction, So that thou art wise in thy latter end.

Escucha el consejo y acepta la corrección, Para que seas sabio el resto de tus días.

21 M any the purposes in a man's heart, And the counsel of Jehovah it standeth.

Muchos son los planes en el corazón del hombre, Mas el consejo del Señor permanecerá.

22 T he desirableness of a man his kindness, And better the poor than a liar.

Lo que es deseable en un hombre es su bondad, Y es mejor ser pobre que mentiroso.

23 T he fear of Jehovah to life, And satisfied he remaineth -- he is not charged with evil.

El temor del Señor conduce a la vida, Para poder dormir satisfecho, sin ser tocado por el mal.

24 T he slothful hath hidden his hand in a dish, Even unto his mouth he bringeth it not back.

El perezoso mete su mano en el plato, Y ni aun a su boca la llevará.

25 A scorner smite, and the simple acts prudently, And give reproof to the intelligent, He understandeth knowledge.

Golpea al insolente y el ingenuo se volverá astuto, Pero reprende al que tiene inteligencia y ganará en conocimiento.

26 W hoso is spoiling a father causeth a mother to flee, A son causing shame, and bringing confusion.

El que asalta a su padre y echa fuera a su madre Es un hijo que trae vergüenza y desgracia.

27 C ease, my son, to hear instruction -- To err from sayings of knowledge.

Cesa, hijo mío, de escuchar la instrucción, Y te desviarás de las palabras de sabiduría.

28 A worthless witness scorneth judgment, And the mouth of the wicked swalloweth iniquity.

El testigo perverso se burla de la justicia, Y la boca de los impíos esparce iniquidad.

29 J udgments have been prepared for scorners, And stripes for the back of fools!

Los juicios están preparados para los insolentes, Y los azotes para la espalda de los necios.
