1 A nd daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh son of Joseph, draw near -- and these the names of his daughters, Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah --

Entonces las hijas de Zelofehad, hijo de Hefer, hijo de Galaad, hijo de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, de las familias de Manasés, hijo de José, se acercaron; y estos eran los nombres de sus hijas: Maala, Noa, Hogla, Milca y Tirsa.

2 a nd stand before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes, and all the company, at the opening of the tent of meeting, saying:

Y se presentaron delante de Moisés, delante del sacerdote Eleazar, delante de los jefes y de toda la congregación, a la entrada de la tienda de reunión y dijeron:

3 ` Our father died in the wilderness, and he -- he was not in the midst of the company who were met together against Jehovah in the company of Korah, but for his own sin he died, and had no sons;

“Nuestro padre murió en el desierto, aunque no estuvo entre el grupo de los que se juntaron contra el Señor, en el grupo de Coré, sino que murió por su pecado, y no tuvo hijos.

4 w hy is the name of our father withdrawn from the midst of his family because he hath no son? give to us a possession in the midst of the brethren of our father;'

¿Por qué ha de desaparecer el nombre de nuestro padre de entre su familia sólo porque no tuvo hijo? Dennos herencia entre los hermanos de nuestro padre.”

5 a nd Moses bringeth near their cause before Jehovah.

Y Moisés presentó su caso ante el Señor.

6 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

Entonces el Señor habló a Moisés y le dijo:

7 ` Rightly are the daughters of Zelophehad speaking; thou dost certainly give to them a possession of an inheritance in the midst of their father's brethren, and hast caused to pass over the inheritance of their father to them.

“Las hijas de Zelofehad tienen razón en lo que dicen. Ciertamente les darás herencia entre los hermanos de su padre, y pasarás a ellas la herencia de su padre.

8 ` And unto the sons of Israel thou dost speak, saying, When a man dieth, and hath no son, then ye have caused his inheritance to pass over to his daughter;

Además, dirás a los Israelitas: ‘Si un hombre muere y no tiene hijo, ustedes pasarán su herencia a su hija.

9 a nd if he have no daughter, then ye have given his inheritance to his brethren;

Si no tiene hija, entonces darán su herencia a sus hermanos.

10 a nd if he have no brethren, then ye have given his inheritance to his father's brethren;

Si no tiene hermanos, entonces darán su herencia a los hermanos de su padre.

11 a nd if his father have no brethren, then ye have given his inheritance to his relation who is near unto him of his family, and he hath possessed it;' and it hath been to the sons of Israel for a statute of judgment, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

Y si su padre no tiene hermanos, entonces darán su herencia al pariente más cercano en su familia, y él la poseerá. Y será norma de derecho para los Israelitas, tal como el Señor ordenó a Moisés.’” Josué Ungido Sucesor de Moisés

12 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go up unto this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the sons of Israel;

Entonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: “Sube a este Monte Abarim, y mira la tierra que Yo he dado a los Israelitas.

13 a nd thou hast seen it, and thou hast been gathered unto thy people, also thou, as Aaron thy brother hath been gathered,

Y cuando la hayas visto, tú también te reunirás a tu pueblo, como se reunió tu hermano Aarón.

14 b ecause ye provoked My mouth in the wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the company -- to sanctify Me at the waters before their eyes;' they waters of Meribah, in Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin.

Porque cuando ustedes se rebelaron contra Mi mandamiento en el desierto de Zin durante la contienda de la congregación, debieron santificarme en las aguas ante sus ojos.” (Esas son las aguas de Meriba, de Cades, en el desierto de Zin.)

15 A nd Moses speaketh unto Jehovah, saying,

Entonces Moisés respondió al Señor:

16 ` Jehovah -- God of the spirits of all flesh -- appoint a man over the company,

“Ponga el Señor, Dios de los espíritus de toda carne, un hombre sobre la congregación,

17 w ho goeth out before them, and who cometh in before them, and who taketh them out, and who bringeth them in, and the company of Jehovah is not as sheep which have no shepherd.'

que salga y entre delante de ellos, y que los haga salir y entrar a fin de que la congregación del Señor no sea como ovejas que no tienen pastor.”

18 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Take to thee Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom the Spirit, and thou hast laid thine hand upon him,

Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: “Toma a Josué, hijo de Nun, hombre en quien está el Espíritu, y pon tu mano sobre él;

19 a nd hast caused him to stand before Eleazar the priest, and before all the company, and hast charged him before their eyes,

y haz que se ponga delante del sacerdote Eleazar, y delante de toda la congregación, e impártele autoridad a la vista de ellos.

20 a nd hast put of thine honour upon him, so that all the company of the sons of Israel do hearken.

Pondrás sobre él parte de tu dignidad a fin de que le obedezca toda la congregación de los Israelitas.

21 ` And before Eleazar the priest he standeth, and he hath asked for him by the judgment of the Lights before Jehovah; at His word they go out, and at His word they come in; he, and all the sons of Israel with him, even all the company.'

El se presentará delante del sacerdote Eleazar, quien consultará por él por medio del juicio del Urim delante del Señor. A su palabra saldrán y a su palabra entrarán, él y todos los Israelitas con él, es decir, toda la congregación.”

22 A nd Moses doth as Jehovah hath commanded him, and taketh Joshua, and causeth him to stand before Eleazar the priest, and before all the company,

Moisés hizo tal como el Señor le ordenó; tomó a Josué y lo puso delante del sacerdote Eleazar y delante de toda la congregación.

23 a nd layeth his hands upon him, and chargeth him, as Jehovah hath spoken by the hand of Moses.

Luego puso sus manos sobre él y le impartió autoridad, tal como el Señor había hablado por medio de Moisés.
