1 A nd Joshua riseth early in the morning, and they journey from Shittim, and come in unto the Jordan, he and all the sons of Israel, and they lodge there before they pass over.

Josué se levantó muy de mañana; y él y todos los Israelitas salieron de Sitim y llegaron al Jordán. Allí acamparon antes de cruzar.

2 A nd it cometh to pass, at the end of three days, that the authorities pass over into the midst of the camp,

Después de tres días los oficiales pasaron por medio del campamento

3 a nd command the people, saying, `When ye see the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then ye journey from your place, and have gone after it;

y dieron órdenes al pueblo: “Cuando ustedes vean el arca del pacto del Señor su Dios y a los sacerdotes Levitas llevándola, entonces saldrán de su lugar y la seguirán.

4 o nly, a distance is between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure; ye do not come near unto it, so that ye know the way in which ye go, for ye have not passed over in the way heretofore.'

Sin embargo, dejarán entre ustedes y ella una distancia de unos 900 metros (2, 000 codos). No se acerquen a ella para saber el camino por donde deben ir, porque no han pasado antes por este camino.”

5 A nd Joshua saith unto the people, `Sanctify yourselves, for to-morrow doth Jehovah do in your midst wonders.'

Entonces Josué dijo al pueblo: “Conságrense, porque mañana el Señor hará maravillas entre ustedes.”

6 A nd Joshua speaketh unto the priests, saying, `Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people;' and they take up the ark of the covenant, and go before the people.

Y Josué dijo a los sacerdotes: “Tomen el arca del pacto y pasen delante del pueblo.” Y ellos tomaron el arca del pacto y fueron delante del pueblo.

7 A nd Jehovah saith unto Joshua, `This day I begin to make thee great in the eyes of all Israel, so that they know that as I was with Moses I am with thee;

El Señor dijo a Josué: “Hoy comenzaré a exaltarte a los ojos de todo Israel, para que sepan que tal como estuve con Moisés, estaré contigo.

8 a nd thou, thou dost command the priests bearing the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye come unto the extremity of the waters of the Jordan -- in the Jordan ye stand.'

Además, darás órdenes a los sacerdotes que llevan el arca del pacto, diciéndoles: ‘Cuando lleguen a la orilla de las aguas del Jordán, se detendrán en el Jordán.’”

9 A nd Joshua saith unto the sons of Israel, `Come nigh hither, and hear the words of Jehovah your God;

Entonces Josué dijo a los Israelitas: “Acérquense y oigan las palabras del Señor su Dios.”

10 a nd Joshua saith, `By this ye know that the living God in your midst, and He doth certainly dispossess from before you the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Hivite, and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Jebusite:

Josué añadió: “En esto conocerán que el Dios vivo está entre ustedes, y que ciertamente expulsará de delante de ustedes a los Cananeos, a los Hititas, a los Heveos, a los Ferezeos, a los Gergeseos, a los Amorreos y a los Jebuseos.

11 l o, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is passing over before you into Jordan;

Miren, el arca del pacto del Señor de toda la tierra va a pasar el Jordán delante de ustedes.

12 a nd now, take for you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, one man -- one man for a tribe;

Ahora pues, tomen doce hombres de las tribus de Israel, un hombre de cada tribu.

13 a nd it hath been, at the resting of the soles of the feet of the priests bearing the ark of Jehovah, Lord of all the earth, in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan are cut off -- the waters which are coming down from above -- and they stand -- one heap.'

Y sucederá que cuando los sacerdotes que llevan el arca del Señor, el Señor de toda la tierra, pongan las plantas de los pies en las aguas del Jordán, las aguas del Jordán quedarán cortadas, y las aguas que fluyen de arriba se detendrán en un montón.”

14 A nd it cometh to pass, in the journeying of the people from their tents to pass over the Jordan, and of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,

Así que cuando el pueblo salió de sus tiendas para pasar el Jordán con los sacerdotes llevando el arca del pacto delante del pueblo,

15 a nd at those bearing the ark coming in unto the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark have been dipped in the extremity of the waters (and the Jordan is full over all its banks all the days of harvest) --

y cuando los que llevaban el arca entraron en el Jordán y los pies de los sacerdotes que llevaban el arca se mojaron en la orilla del agua (porque el Jordán se desborda por todas sus riberas todos los días de la cosecha ),

16 t hat the waters stand; those coming down from above have risen -- one heap, very far above Adam the city, which at the side of Zaretan; and those going down by the sea of the plain, the Salt Sea, have been completely cut off; and the people have passed through over-against Jericho;

las aguas que venían de arriba se detuvieron y se elevaron en un montón, a una gran distancia en Adam, la ciudad que está al lado de Saretán. Las aguas que descendían hacia el mar de Arabá, el Mar Salado, fueron cortadas completamente. Así el pueblo pasó hasta estar frente a Jericó.

17 a nd the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of Jehovah stand on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan -- established, and all Israel are passing over on dry ground till that all the nation hath completed to pass over the Jordan.

Los sacerdotes que llevaban el arca del pacto del Señor estuvieron en tierra seca en medio del Jordán mientras que todo Israel cruzaba sobre tierra seca, hasta que todo el pueblo acabó de pasar el Jordán.
