1 A nd he heareth the words of Laban's sons, saying, `Jacob hath taken all that our father hath; yea, from that which our father hath, he hath made all this honour;'

2 a nd Jacob seeth the face of Laban, and lo, it is not with him as heretofore.

También Jacob observó la actitud de Labán, que ya no era amigable para con él como antes.

3 A nd Jehovah saith unto Jacob, `Turn back unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred, and I am with thee.'

Entonces el Señor dijo a Jacob: “Vuelve a la tierra de tus padres y a tus familiares, y Yo estaré contigo.”

4 A nd Jacob sendeth and calleth for Rachel and for Leah to the field unto his flock;

Jacob, pues, envió a llamar a Raquel y a Lea al campo, donde estaba su rebaño,

5 a nd saith to them, `I am beholding your father's face -- that it is not towards me as heretofore, and the God of my father hath been with me,

y les dijo: “Veo que el semblante de su padre no es amigable para conmigo como antes. Pero el Dios de mi padre ha estado conmigo.

6 a nd ye -- ye have known that with all my power I have served your father,

“Ustedes saben que he servido a su padre con todas mis fuerzas.

7 a nd your father hath played upon me, and hath changed my hire ten times; and God hath not suffered him to do evil with me.

No obstante él me ha engañado, y ha cambiado mi salario diez veces; sin embargo, Dios no le ha permitido perjudicarme.

8 ` If he say thus: The speckled are thy hire, then bare all the flock speckled ones; and if he say thus: The ring-straked are thy hire, then bare all the flock ring-straked;

Si él decía: ‘Las moteadas serán tu salario,’ entonces todo el rebaño paría moteadas; y si decía: ‘Las rayadas serán tu salario,’ entonces todo el rebaño paría rayadas.

9 a nd God taketh away the substance of your father, and doth give to me.

De esta manera Dios ha quitado el ganado al padre de ustedes y me lo ha dado a mí.

10 ` And it cometh to pass at the time of the flock conceiving, that I lift up mine eyes and see in a dream, and lo, the he-goats, which are going up on the flock, ring-straked, speckled, and grisled;

“Y sucedió que por el tiempo cuando el rebaño estaba en celo, alcé los ojos y vi en sueños que los machos cabríos que cubrían las hembras eran rayados, moteados y abigarrados.

11 a nd the messenger of God saith unto me in the dream, Jacob, and I say, Here I.

12 ` And He saith, Lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes, and see -- all the he-goats which are going up on the flock ring-straked, speckled, and grisled, for I have seen all that Laban is doing to thee;

Y él dijo: ‘Levanta ahora los ojos y ve que todos los machos cabríos que están cubriendo las hembras son rayados, moteados y abigarrados, pues yo he visto todo lo que Labán te ha hecho.

13 I the God of Bethel where thou hast anointed a standing pillar, where thou hast vowed a vow to me; now, arise, go out from this land, and turn back unto the land of thy birth.'

Yo soy el Dios de Betel, donde tú ungiste un pilar, donde Me hiciste un voto. Levántate ahora, sal de esta tierra, y vuelve a la tierra donde naciste.’”

14 A nd Rachel answereth -- Leah also -- and saith to him, `Have we yet a portion and inheritance in the house of our father?

Raquel y Lea le respondieron: “¿Tenemos todavía nosotras parte o herencia alguna en la casa de nuestro padre?

15 h ave we not been reckoned strangers to him? for he hath sold us, and he also utterly consumeth our money;

¿No nos ha tratado como extranjeras? Pues nos ha vendido, y también ha consumido por completo el precio de nuestra compra.

16 f or all the wealth which God hath taken away from our father, it ours, and our children's; and now, all that God hath said unto thee -- do.'

Ciertamente, toda la riqueza que Dios ha quitado de nuestro padre es nuestra y de nuestros hijos; ahora pues, todo lo que Dios te ha dicho, hazlo.” Jacob Huye de Labán

17 A nd Jacob riseth, and lifteth up his sons and his wives on the camels,

Entonces Jacob se levantó, montó a sus hijos y a sus mujeres en los camellos,

18 a nd leadeth all his cattle, and all his substance which he hath acquired, the cattle of his getting, which he hath acquired in Padan-Aram, to go unto Isaac his father, to the land of Canaan.

y puso en camino todo su ganado y todas las posesiones que había acumulado, el ganado adquirido que había acumulado en Padán Aram, para ir a Isaac su padre, a la tierra de Canaán.

19 A nd Laban hath gone to shear his flock, and Rachel stealeth the teraphim which her father hath;

Mientras Labán había ido a trasquilar sus ovejas, Raquel robó los ídolos domésticos que eran de su padre.

20 a nd Jacob deceiveth the heart of Laban the Aramaean, because he hath not declared to him that he is fleeing;

Jacob engañó a Labán Arameo al no informarle que huía.

21 a nd he fleeth, he and all that he hath, and riseth, and passeth over the River, and setteth his face the mount of Gilead.

Huyó, pues, Jacob con todo lo que tenía. Se levantó, cruzó el río Eufrates y se dirigió hacia la región montañosa de Galaad. Labán Alcanza a Jacob

22 A nd it is told to Laban on the third day that Jacob hath fled,

Al tercer día, cuando informaron a Labán que Jacob había huido,

23 a nd he taketh his brethren with him, and pursueth after him a journey of seven days, and overtaketh him in the mount of Gilead.

tomó a sus parientes consigo y lo persiguió por siete días; y lo alcanzó en los montes de Galaad.

24 A nd God cometh in unto Laban the Aramaean in a dream of the night, and saith to him, `Take heed to thyself lest thou speak with Jacob from good unto evil.'

Pero Dios vino a Labán Arameo en sueños durante la noche, y le dijo: “De ningún modo hables a Jacob ni bien ni mal.”

25 A nd Laban overtaketh Jacob; and Jacob hath fixed his tent in the mount; and Laban with his brethren have fixed in the mount of Gilead.

Alcanzó, pues, Labán a Jacob, quien había plantado su tienda en la región montañosa, y Labán y sus parientes acamparon en los montes de Galaad.

26 A nd Laban saith to Jacob, `What hast thou done that thou dost deceive my heart, and lead away my daughters as captives of the sword?

Entonces Labán dijo a Jacob: “¿Qué has hecho, engañándome y llevándote a mis hijas como si fueran cautivas de guerra ?

27 W hy hast thou hidden thyself to flee, and deceivest me, and hast not declared to me, and I send thee away with joy and with songs, with tabret and with harp,

¿Por qué huiste en secreto y me engañaste, y no me avisaste para que yo pudiera despedirte con alegría y cantos, con panderos y liras ?

28 a nd hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? -- now thou hast acted foolishly in doing;

¿ Por qué no me has permitido besar a mis hijos y a mis hijas ? En esto has obrado neciamente.

29 m y hand is to God to do evil with you, but the God of your father yesternight hath spoken unto me, saying, Take heed to thyself from speaking with Jacob from good unto evil.

Tengo poder para hacerte daño, pero anoche el Dios de tu padre me dijo: ‘De ningún modo hables a Jacob ni bien ni mal.’

30 ` And now, thou hast certainly gone, because thou hast been very desirous for the house of thy father; why hast thou stolen my gods?'

Ahora, ciertamente te has marchado porque anhelabas mucho la casa de tu padre. Pero ¿por qué robaste mis dioses ?”

31 A nd Jacob answereth and saith to Laban, `Because I was afraid, for I said, Lest thou take violently away thy daughters from me;

Entonces Jacob respondió a Labán: “Porque tuve miedo, pues dije: ‘No sea que me quites a tus hijas a la fuerza.’

32 w ith whomsoever thou findest thy gods -- he doth not live; before our brethren discern for thyself what with me, and take to thyself:' and Jacob hath not known that Rachel hath stolen them.

Pero aquél con quien encuentres tus dioses, no vivirá. En presencia de nuestros parientes indica (reconoce) lo que es tuyo entre mis cosas y llévate lo.” Pues Jacob no sabía que Raquel los había robado.

33 A nd Laban goeth into the tent of Jacob, and into the tent of Leah, and into the tent of the two handmaidens, and hath not found; and he goeth out from the tent of Leah, and goeth into the tent of Rachel.

Entró entonces Labán en la tienda de Jacob, en la tienda de Lea y en la tienda de las dos siervas, pero no los encontró. Después salió de la tienda de Lea y entró en la tienda de Raquel.

34 A nd Rachel hath taken the teraphim, and putteth them in the furniture of the camel, and sitteth upon them; and Laban feeleth all the tent, and hath not found;

Raquel había tomado los ídolos domésticos, los había puesto en los aparejos del camello y se había sentado sobre ellos. Y Labán buscó por toda la tienda, pero no los encontró.

35 a nd she saith unto her father, `Let it not be displeasing in the eyes of my lord that I am not able to rise at thy presence, for the way of women on me;' and he searcheth, and hath not found the teraphim.

Y ella dijo a su padre: “No se enoje mi señor porque no pueda levantarme delante de usted, pues estoy con lo que es común entre las mujeres.” Y él buscó, pero no encontró los ídolos domésticos. Jacob Responde a Labán

36 A nd it is displeasing to Jacob, and he striveth with Laban; and Jacob answereth and saith to Laban, `What my transgression? what my sin, that thou hast burned after me?

Entonces se enojó Jacob y discutió con Labán. Y Jacob dijo a Labán: “¿Cuál es mi transgresión? ¿Cuál es mi pecado para que con tanta insistencia me hayas perseguido?

37 f or thou hast felt all my vessels: what hast thou found of all the vessels of thy house? set here before my brethren, and thy brethren, and they decide between us both.

Aunque has buscado en todas mis cosas, ¿qué has hallado de todas las cosas de tu casa? Pon lo delante de mis parientes y de tus parientes para que ellos juzguen entre nosotros dos.

38 ` These twenty years I with thee: thy ewes and thy she-goats have not miscarried, and the rams of thy flock I have not eaten;

“Estos veinte años yo he estado contigo. Tus ovejas y tus cabras no han abortado, ni yo he comido los carneros de tus rebaños.

39 t he torn I have not brought in unto thee -- I, I repay it -- from my hand thou dost seek it; I have been deceived by day, and I have been deceived by night;

No te traía lo despedazado por las fieras. Yo cargaba con la pérdida. Tú lo demandabas de mi mano, tanto lo robado de día como lo robado de noche.

40 I have been: in the day consumed me hath drought, and frost by night, and wander doth my sleep from mine eyes.

Estaba yo que de día el calor me consumía y de noche la helada, y el sueño huía de mis ojos.

41 ` This to me twenty years in thy house: I have served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy flock; and thou changest my hire ten times;

Estos veinte años he estado en tu casa. Catorce años te serví por tus dos hijas y seis por tu rebaño, y diez veces cambiaste mi salario.

42 u nless the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac, had been for me, surely now empty thou hadst sent me away; mine affliction and the labour of my hands hath God seen, and reproveth yesternight.'

“Si el Dios de mi padre, Dios de Abraham, y temor de Isaac, no hubiera estado conmigo, ciertamente me hubieras enviado ahora con las manos vacías. Pero Dios ha visto mi aflicción y la labor de mis manos, y anoche hizo justicia.” Pacto entre Labán y Jacob

43 A nd Laban answereth and saith unto Jacob, `The daughters my daughters, and the sons my sons, and the flock my flock, and all that thou art seeing mine; and to my daughters -- what do I to these to-day, or to their sons whom they have born?

Respondió Labán a Jacob: “Las hijas son mis hijas, y los hijos mis hijos, y los rebaños mis rebaños, y todo lo que ves es mío. ¿Pero qué puedo yo hacer hoy a estas mis hijas, o a sus hijos que ellas dieron a luz?

44 a nd now, come, let us make a covenant, I and thou, and it hath been for a witness between me and thee.'

Ahora bien, ven, hagamos un pacto tú y yo y que sirva de testimonio entre los dos.”

45 A nd Jacob taketh a stone, and lifteth it up a standing pillar;

Entonces Jacob tomó una piedra y la levantó como señal.

46 a nd Jacob saith to his brethren, `Gather stones,' and they take stones, and make a heap; and they eat there on the heap;

Y Jacob dijo a sus parientes: “Recojan piedras.” Y tomaron piedras e hicieron un montón, y comieron allí junto al montón.

47 a nd Laban calleth it Jegar-Sahadutha; and Jacob hath called it Galeed.

Labán lo llamó Jegar Sahaduta, pero Jacob lo llamó Galed.

48 A nd Laban saith, `This heap witness between me and thee to-day;' therefore hath he called its name Galeed;

Entonces Labán dijo: “Este montón es hoy un testigo entre tú y yo.” Por eso fue llamado Galed,

49 M izpah also, for he said, `Jehovah doth watch between me and thee, for we are hidden one from another;

y Mizpa (Vigía), porque dijo: “Que el Señor nos vigile a los dos cuando nos hayamos apartado el uno del otro.

50 i f thou afflict my daughters, or take wives beside my daughters -- there is no man with us -- see, God witness between me and thee.'

Si maltratas a mis hijas, o si tomas otras mujeres además de mis hijas, aunque nadie lo sepa, mira, Dios es testigo entre tú y yo.”

51 A nd Laban saith to Jacob, `Lo, this heap, and lo, the standing pillar which I have cast between me and thee;

Y Labán dijo a Jacob: “Mira este montón, y mira el pilar que he puesto entre tú y yo.

52 t his heap witness, and the standing pillar witness, that I do not pass over this heap unto thee, and that thou dost not pass over this heap and this standing pillar unto me -- for evil;

Testigo sea este montón y testigo sea el pilar de que yo no pasaré de este montón hacia ti y tú no pasarás de este montón y de este pilar hacia mí, para hacer daño.

53 t he God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, doth judge between us -- the God of their father,' and Jacob sweareth by the Fear of his father Isaac.

El Dios de Abraham y el Dios de Nacor, Dios de sus padres, juzgue entre nosotros.” Entonces Jacob juró por el que temía su padre Isaac.

54 A nd Jacob sacrificeth a sacrifice in the mount, and calleth to his brethren to eat bread, and they eat bread, and lodge in the mount;

Luego ofreció Jacob un sacrificio en el monte, y llamó a sus parientes a comer. Comieron, y pasaron la noche en el monte.

55 a nd Laban riseth early in the morning, and kisseth his sons and his daughters, and blesseth them; and Laban goeth on, and turneth back to his place.

Labán se levantó muy de mañana, besó a sus hijos y a sus hijas, y los bendijo. Entonces Labán se fue y regresó a su lugar.
