1 A nd Abram goeth up from Egypt (he and his wife, and all that he hath, and Lot with him) towards the south;

Abram subió desde Egipto al Neguev (región del sur), él y su mujer con todo lo que poseía; y con él iba Lot.

2 a nd Abram exceedingly wealthy in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

Abram era muy rico en ganado, en plata y en oro.

3 A nd he goeth on his journeyings from the south, even unto Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the commencement, between Bethel and Hai --

Y anduvo en sus jornadas desde el Neguev hasta Betel (Casa de Dios), al lugar donde su tienda había estado al principio, entre Betel y Hai,

4 u nto the place of the altar which he made there at the first, and there doth Abram preach in the name of Jehovah.

al lugar del altar que antes había hecho allí. Allí Abram invocó el nombre del Señor. Separación de Abram y Lot

5 A nd also to Lot, who is going with Abram, there hath been sheep and oxen and tents;

También Lot, que andaba con Abram, tenía ovejas, vacas y tiendas.

6 a nd the land hath not suffered them to dwell together, for their substance hath been much, and they have not been able to dwell together;

Pero la tierra no podía sostenerlos para que habitaran juntos, porque sus posesiones eran tantas que ya no podían habitar juntos.

7 a nd there is a strife between those feeding Abram's cattle and those feeding Lot's cattle; and the Canaanite and the Perizzite then dwelling in the land.

Hubo, pues, problema entre los pastores del ganado de Abram y los pastores del ganado de Lot. Los Cananeos y los Ferezeos habitaban entonces en aquella tierra.

8 A nd Abram saith unto Lot, `Let there not, I pray thee, be strife between me and thee, and between my shepherds and thy shepherds, for we men -- brethren.

Así que Abram dijo a Lot: “Te ruego que no haya problema entre nosotros, ni entre mis pastores y tus pastores, porque somos hermanos.

9 I s not all the land before thee? be parted, I pray thee, from me; if to the left, then I to the right; and if to the right, then I to the left.'

¿No está toda la tierra delante de ti? Te ruego que te separes de mí. Si vas a la izquierda, yo iré a la derecha; y si a la derecha, yo iré a la izquierda.”

10 A nd Lot lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the whole circuit of the Jordan that it all a watered country (before Jehovah's destroying Sodom and Gomorrah, as Jehovah's garden, as the land of Egypt,) in thy coming toward Zoar,

Y alzó Lot los ojos y vio todo el valle del Jordán, el cual estaba bien regado por todas partes ( esto fue antes de que el Señor destruyera a Sodoma y Gomorra ) como el huerto del Señor, como la tierra de Egipto rumbo a Zoar.

11 a nd Lot chooseth for himself the whole circuit of the Jordan; and Lot journeyeth from the east, and they are parted -- a man from his companion;

Lot escogió para sí todo el Valle del Jordán, y viajó Lot hacia el oriente. Así se separaron el uno del otro.

12 A bram hath dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot hath dwelt in the cities of the circuit, and tenteth unto Sodom;

Abram se estableció en la tierra de Canaán, en tanto que Lot se estableció en las ciudades del valle, y fue poniendo sus tiendas hasta Sodoma.

13 a nd the men of Sodom evil, and sinners before Jehovah exceedingly.

Pero los hombres de Sodoma eran malos y pecadores en gran manera contra el Señor. Promesa de Dios a Abram

14 A nd Jehovah said unto Abram, after Lot's being parted from him, `Lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes, and look from the place where thou, northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward;

Y el Señor dijo a Abram después que Lot se había separado de él: “Alza ahora los ojos y mira desde el lugar donde estás hacia el norte, el sur, el oriente y el occidente,

15 f or the whole of the land which thou are seeing, to thee I give it, and to thy seed -- to the age.

pues toda la tierra que ves te la daré a ti y a tu descendencia para siempre.

16 A nd I have set thy seed as dust of the earth, so that, if one is able to number the dust of the earth, even thy seed is numbered;

Haré tu descendencia como el polvo de la tierra; de manera que si alguien puede contar el polvo de la tierra, también tu descendencia podrá contarse.

17 r ise, go up and down through the land, to its length, and to its breadth, for to thee I give it.'

Levántate, recorre la tierra a lo largo y a lo ancho de ella, porque a ti te la daré.”

18 A nd Abram tenteth, and cometh, and dwelleth among the oaks of Mamre, which in Hebron, and buildeth there an altar to Jehovah.

Entonces Abram levantó su tienda, y fue y habitó en el encinar de Mamre, que está en Hebrón, y allí edificó un altar al Señor.
