1 A nd Abraham journeyeth from thence toward the land of the south, and dwelleth between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourneth in Gerar;

Abraham salió de donde estaba hacia la tierra del Neguev (región del sur), y se estableció entre Cades y Shur. Entonces estuvo por un tiempo en Gerar.

2 a nd Abraham saith concerning Sarah his wife, `She is my sister;' and Abimelech king of Gerar sendeth and taketh Sarah.

Abraham decía de Sara su mujer: “Es mi hermana.” Entonces Abimelec, rey de Gerar, envió y tomó a Sara.

3 A nd God cometh in unto Abimelech in a dream of the night, and saith to him, `Lo, thou a dead man, because of the woman whom thou hast taken -- and she married to a husband.'

Pero Dios vino a Abimelec en un sueño de noche, y le dijo: “Tú eres hombre muerto por razón de la mujer que has tomado, pues está casada.”

4 A nd Abimelech hath not drawn near unto her, and he saith, `Lord, also a righteous nation dost thou slay?

Pero Abimelec no se había acercado a ella, y dijo: “Señor, ¿destruirás a una nación aunque sea inocente ?

5 h ath not he himself said to me, She my sister! and she, even she herself, said, He my brother; in the integrity of my heart, and in the innocency of my hands, I have done this.'

¿No me dijo él mismo: ‘Es mi hermana’? Y ella también dijo: ‘Es mi hermano.’ En la integridad de mi corazón y con manos inocentes yo he hecho esto.”

6 A nd God saith unto him in the dream, `Yea, I -- I have known that in the integrity of thy heart thou hast done this, and I withhold thee, even I, from sinning against Me, therefore I have not suffered thee to come against her;

Entonces Dios le dijo en el sueño: “Sí, Yo sé que en la integridad de tu corazón has hecho esto. Y además, Yo te guardé de pecar contra mí, por eso no te dejé que la tocaras.

7 a nd now send back the man's wife, for he inspired, and he doth pray for thee, and live thou; and if thou do not send back, know that dying thou dost die, thou, and all that thou hast.'

Ahora pues, devuelve la mujer al marido, porque él es profeta y orará por ti, y vivirás. Pero si no la devuelves, sabe que de cierto morirás, tú y todos los tuyos.”

8 A nd Abimelech riseth early in the morning, and calleth for all his servants, and speaketh all these words in their ears; and the men fear exceedingly;

Abimelec se levantó muy de mañana, llamó a todos sus siervos y relató todas estas cosas a oídos de ellos; y los hombres se atemorizaron en gran manera.

9 a nd Abimelech calleth for Abraham, and saith to him, `What hast thou done to us? and what have I sinned against thee, that thou hast brought upon me, and upon my kingdom, a great sin? works which are not done thou hast done with me.'

Entonces Abimelec llamó a Abraham, y le dijo: “¿Qué nos has hecho ? ¿Y en qué he pecado contra ti, para que hayas traído sobre mí y sobre mi reino un pecado tan grande ? Me has hecho cosas que no se deben hacer.”

10 A bimelech also saith unto Abraham, `What hast thou seen that thou hast done this thing?'

Abimelec añadió a Abraham: “¿Qué has hallado para que hayas hecho esto?”

11 A nd Abraham saith, `Because I said, `Surely the fear of God is not in this place, and they have slain me for the sake of my wife;

Y Abraham respondió: “Porque me dije: Sin duda no hay temor de Dios en este lugar, y me matarán por causa de mi mujer.

12 a nd also, truly she is my sister, daughter of my father, only not daughter of my mother, and she becometh my wife;

Además, en realidad es mi hermana, hija de mi padre, pero no hija de mi madre. Ella vino a ser mi mujer.

13 a nd it cometh to pass, when God hath caused me to wander from my father's house, that I say to her, This thy kindness which thou dost with me: at every place whither we come, say of me, He my brother.'

Cuando Dios me hizo salir errante de la casa de mi padre, yo le dije a ella: ‘Este es el favor que me harás: a cualquier lugar que vayamos, dirás de mí: “Es mi hermano.”’”

14 A nd Abimelech taketh sheep and oxen, and servants and handmaids, and giveth to Abraham, and sendeth back to him Sarah his wife;

Entonces Abimelec tomó ovejas y vacas, siervos y siervas, y se los dio a Abraham, y le devolvió a Sara su mujer.

15 a nd Abimelech saith, `Lo, my land before thee, where it is good in thine eyes, dwell;'

Y le dijo Abimelec: “Mi tierra está delante de ti. Habita donde quieras.”

16 a nd to Sarah he hath said, `Lo, I have given a thousand silverlings to thy brother; lo, it is to thee a covering of eyes, to all who are with thee;' and by all this she is reasoned with.

A Sara le dijo: “Mira, he dado a tu hermano 1, 000 monedas de plata. Esta es tu vindicación delante de todos los que están contigo, y ante todos quedas vindicada.”

17 A nd Abraham prayeth unto God, and God healeth Abimelech and his wife, and his handmaids, and they bear:

Abraham oró a Dios, y Dios sanó a Abimelec, a su mujer y a sus siervas, y tuvieron hijos.

18 f or Jehovah restraining had restrained every womb of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah, Abraham's wife.

Porque el Señor había cerrado completamente toda matriz en la casa de Abimelec por causa de Sara, mujer de Abraham.
