1 A nd it came to pass, on one of those days, as he is teaching the people in the temple, and proclaiming good news, the chief priests and the scribes, with the elders, came upon,

Aconteció que en uno de los días, cuando Jesús enseñaba a la gente en el templo y anunciaba (predicaba) el evangelio (las buenas nuevas), se enfrentaron a El los principales sacerdotes y los escribas con los ancianos,

2 a nd spake unto him, saying, `Tell us by what authority thou dost these things? or who is he that gave to thee this authority?'

y Le dijeron: “Dinos, ¿con qué autoridad haces estas cosas, o quién Te dio esta autoridad?”

3 A nd he answering said unto them, `I will question you -- I also -- one thing, and tell me:

Jesús les respondió: “Yo también les haré una pregunta; quiero que Me digan:

4 t he baptism of John, from heaven was it, or from men?'

El bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo o de los hombres?”

5 A nd they reasoned with themselves, saying -- `If we may say, From heaven, he will say, Wherefore, then, did ye not believe him?

Y ellos razonaban entre sí, diciendo: “Si decimos: ‘Del cielo,’ El dirá: ‘¿Por qué no le creyeron?’

6 a nd if we may say, From men, all the people will stone us, for they are having been persuaded John to be a prophet.'

Pero si decimos: ‘De los hombres,’ todo el pueblo nos matará a pedradas, pues están convencidos de que Juan era un profeta.”

7 A nd they answered, that they knew not whence,

Y respondieron que no sabían de dónde era.

8 a nd Jesus said to them, `Neither do I say to you by what authority I do these things.'

Jesús entonces les dijo: “Tampoco Yo les diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.” Parábola de los Labradores Malvados

9 A nd he began to speak unto the people this simile: `A certain man planted a vineyard, and gave it out to husbandmen, and went abroad for a long time,

Entonces comenzó a contar al pueblo esta parábola: “Un hombre plantó una viña, y la arrendó a labradores, y se fue de viaje por mucho tiempo.

10 a nd at the season he sent unto the husbandmen a servant, that from the fruit of the vineyard they may give to him, but the husbandmen having beat him, did send away empty.

Al tiempo de la vendimia envió un siervo a los labradores para que le dieran parte del fruto de la viña; pero los labradores, después de golpearlo, lo enviaron con las manos vacías.

11 ` And he added to send another servant, and they that one also having beaten and dishonoured, did send away empty;

Volvió a enviar otro siervo; y ellos también a éste, después de golpearlo y ultrajarlo, lo enviaron con las manos vacías.

12 a nd he added to send a third, and this one also, having wounded, they did cast out.

Después envió un tercero; y a éste también lo hirieron y echaron fuera.

13 ` And the owner of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my son -- the beloved, perhaps having seen this one, they will do reverence;

Entonces el dueño de la viña dijo: ‘¿Qué haré? Enviaré a mi hijo amado; quizá a él lo respetarán.’

14 a nd having seen him, the husbandmen reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; come, we may kill him, that the inheritance may become ours;

Pero cuando los labradores lo vieron, razonaron entre sí, diciendo: ‘Este es el heredero; vamos a matarlo para que la heredad sea nuestra.’

15 a nd having cast him outside of the vineyard, they killed; what, then, shall the owner of the vineyard do to them?

Y arrojándolo fuera de la viña, lo mataron. Por tanto, ¿qué les hará el dueño de la viña?

16 H e will come, and destroy these husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others.' And having heard, they said, `Let it not be!'

Vendrá y destruirá a estos labradores, y dará la viña a otros.” Y cuando ellos oyeron esto, dijeron: “¡Nunca suceda tal cosa!”

17 a nd he, having looked upon them, said, `What, then, is this that hath been written: A stone that the builders rejected -- this became head of a corner?

Pero El, mirándolos fijamente, dijo: “Entonces, ¿qué quiere decir esto que está escrito: ‘ La piedra que desecharon los constructores, esa, en piedra angular se ha convertido ’?

18 e very one who hath fallen on that stone shall be broken, and on whom it may fall, it will crush him to pieces.'

Todo el que caiga sobre esa piedra será hecho pedazos; y sobre quien ella caiga, lo esparcirá como polvo.” El Pago del Impuesto al César

19 A nd the chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on him in that hour, and they feared the people, for they knew that against them he spake this simile.

Los escribas y los principales sacerdotes procuraron arrestar a Jesús en aquella misma hora, porque comprendieron que contra ellos había dicho esta parábola; pero temieron al pueblo.

20 A nd, having watched, they sent forth liers in wait, feigning themselves to be righteous, that they might take hold of his word, to deliver him up to the rule and to the authority of the governor,

Para sorprender a Jesús en alguna declaración, Lo acechaban, enviando espías que fingieran ser justos, y así Lo podrían entregar al poder y autoridad del gobernador.

21 a nd they questioned him, saying, `Teacher, we have known that thou dost say and teach rightly, and dost not accept a person, but in truth the way of God dost teach;

Y Le preguntaron: “Maestro, sabemos que hablas y enseñas rectamente, y no Te guías por las apariencias, sino que enseñas con verdad el camino de Dios.

22 I s it lawful to us to give tribute to Caesar or not?'

¿Nos es lícito pagar impuesto al César, o no?”

23 A nd he, having perceived their craftiness, said unto them, `Why me do ye tempt?

Pero Jesús, percibiendo su astucia, les dijo:

24 s hew me a denary; of whom hath it an image and superscription?' and they answering said, `Of Caesar:'

“Traigan un denario (moneda Romana). ¿De quién es la imagen y la inscripción que lleva?” “Del César,” contestaron.

25 a nd he said to them, `Give back, therefore, the things of Caesar to Caesar, and the things of God to God;'

Entonces Jesús les dijo: “Pues den al César lo que es del César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios.”

26 a nd they were not able to take hold on his saying before the people, and having wondered at his answer, they were silent.

Y no podían sorprender a Jesús en palabra alguna delante del pueblo; y maravillados de Su respuesta, se callaron. Pregunta sobre la Resurrección

27 A nd certain of the Sadducees, who are denying that there is a rising again, having come near, questioned him,

Acercándose a El algunos de los Saduceos, los que dicen que no hay resurrección,

28 s aying, `Teacher, Moses wrote to us, If any one's brother may die, having a wife, and he may die childless -- that his brother may take the wife, and may raise up seed to his brother.

Le dijeron: “Maestro, Moisés nos escribió: ‘ Si el hermano de alguien muere, siendo casado, y no deja hijos, que su hermano tome la mujer y levante descendencia a su hermano.’

29 ` There were, then, seven brothers, and the first having taken a wife, died childless,

Eran, pues, siete hermanos; y el primero tomó esposa, y murió sin dejar hijos;

30 a nd the second took the wife, and he died childless,

y el segundo

31 a nd the third took her, and in like manner also the seven -- they left not children, and they died;

y el tercero la tomaron; y de la misma manera también los siete, y murieron sin dejar hijos.

32 a nd last of all died also the woman:

Por último, murió también la mujer.

33 i n the rising again, then, of which of them doth she become wife? -- for the seven had her as wife.'

Por tanto, en la resurrección, ¿de cuál de ellos será esposa la mujer? Porque los siete la tuvieron por mujer.”

34 A nd Jesus answering said to them, `The sons of this age do marry and are given in marriage,

Jesús les respondió: “Los hijos de este siglo se casan y son dados en matrimonio.

35 b ut those accounted worthy to obtain that age, and the rising again that is out of the dead, neither marry, nor are they given in marriage;

Pero los que son tenidos por dignos de alcanzar aquel siglo y la resurrección de entre los muertos, ni se casan ni son dados en matrimonio.

36 f or neither are they able to die any more -- for they are like messengers -- and they are sons of God, being sons of the rising again.

Tampoco pueden morir, pues son como ángeles, y son hijos de Dios, siendo hijos de la resurrección.

37 ` And that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the Bush, since he doth call the Lord, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob;

Pero que los muertos resucitan, aun Moisés lo enseñó, en aquel pasaje sobre la zarza ardiendo, donde llama al Señor, el Dios de Abraham, y Dios de Isaac, y Dios de Jacob.

38 a nd He is not a God of dead men, but of living, for all live to Him.'

El no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos; porque todos viven para El.”

39 A nd certain of the scribes answering said, `Teacher, thou didst say well;'

Algunos de los escribas respondieron: “Maestro, bien has hablado.”

40 a nd no more durst they question him anything.

Y ya no se atrevían a hacer más preguntas. Jesús, Hijo y Señor de David

41 A nd he said unto them, `How do they say the Christ to be son of David,

Entonces Jesús les preguntó: “¿Cómo es que dicen que el Cristo (el Mesías) es hijo de David ?

42 a nd David himself saith in the Book of Psalms, The Lord said to my lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

Pues David mismo dice en el Libro de los Salmos: El Señor dijo a mi Señor: ‘ Sientate a Mi diestra,

43 t ill I shall make thine enemies thy footstool;

hasta que ponga a Tus enemigos por estrado de Tus pies.’”

44 D avid, then, doth call him lord, and how is he his son?'

“David, por tanto, Lo llama ‘Señor.’ ¿Cómo, pues, es El su hijo?” Advertencia contra los Escribas

45 A nd, all the people hearing, he said to his disciples,

Mientras todo el pueblo escuchaba, dijo a Sus discípulos:

46 ` Take heed of the scribes, who are wishing to walk in long robes, and are loving salutations in the markets, and first seats in the synagogues, and first couches in the suppers,

“Cuídense de los escribas, a quienes les gusta andar con vestiduras largas, y son amantes de los saludos respetuosos en las plazas, y de ocupar los primeros asientos en las sinagogas y los lugares de honor en los banquetes;

47 w ho devour the houses of the widows, and for a pretence make long prayers, these shall receive more abundant judgment.'

que devoran las casas de las viudas, y por las apariencias hacen largas oraciones; ellos recibirán mayor condenación.”
