1 I f, then, any exhortation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 f ulfil ye my joy, that ye may mind the same thing -- having the same love -- of one soul -- minding the one thing,

hagan completo mi gozo, siendo del mismo sentir, conservando el mismo amor, unidos en espíritu, dedicados a un mismo propósito.

3 n othing in rivalry or vain-glory, but in humility of mind one another counting more excellent than yourselves --

No hagan nada por egoísmo (rivalidad) o por vanagloria, sino que con actitud humilde cada uno de ustedes considere al otro como más importante que a sí mismo,

4 e ach not to your own look ye, but each also to the things of others.

no buscando cada uno sus propios intereses, sino más bien los intereses de los demás.

5 F or, let this mind be in you that also in Christ Jesus,

Haya, pues, en ustedes esta actitud (esta manera de pensar) que hubo también en Cristo Jesús,

6 w ho, being in the form of God, thought not robbery to be equal to God,

el cual, aunque existía en forma de Dios, no consideró el ser igual a Dios como algo a qué aferrarse,

7 b ut did empty himself, the form of a servant having taken, in the likeness of men having been made,

sino que Se despojó a sí mismo tomando forma de siervo, haciéndose semejante a los hombres.

8 a nd in fashion having been found as a man, he humbled himself, having become obedient unto death -- death even of a cross,

Y hallándose en forma de hombre, se humilló El mismo, haciéndose obediente hasta la muerte, y muerte de cruz.

9 w herefore, also, God did highly exalt him, and gave to him a name that above every name,

Por lo cual Dios también Lo exaltó hasta lo sumo, y Le confirió el nombre que es sobre todo nombre,

10 t hat in the name of Jesus every knee may bow -- of heavenlies, and earthlies, and what are under the earth --

para que al nombre de Jesús se doble toda rodilla de los que están en el cielo, y en la tierra, y debajo de la tierra,

11 a nd every tongue may confess that Jesus Christ Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

y toda lengua confiese que Jesucristo es Señor, para gloria de Dios Padre. Exhortación a la Obediencia

12 S o that, my beloved, as ye always obey, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, with fear and trembling your own salvation work out,

Así que, amados míos, tal como siempre han obedecido, no sólo en mi presencia, sino ahora mucho más en mi ausencia, ocúpense en su salvación con temor y temblor.

13 f or God it is who is working in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

Porque Dios es quien obra en ustedes tanto el querer como el hacer, para Su buena intención.

14 A ll things do without murmurings and reasonings,

Hagan todas las cosas sin murmuraciones ni discusiones,

15 t hat ye may become blameless and harmless, children of God, unblemished in the midst of a generation crooked and perverse, among whom ye do appear as luminaries in the world,

para que sean irreprensibles y sencillos, hijos de Dios sin tacha en medio de una generación torcida y perversa, en medio de la cual ustedes resplandecen como luminares en el mundo,

16 t he word of life holding forth, for rejoicing to me in regard to a day of Christ, that not in vain did I run, nor in vain did I labour;

sosteniendo firmemente la palabra de vida, a fin de que yo tenga motivo para gloriarme en el día de Cristo, ya que no habré corrido en vano ni habré trabajado en vano.

17 b ut if also I am poured forth upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and joy with you all,

Pero aunque yo sea derramado como libación (ofrenda líquida) sobre el sacrificio y servicio de su fe, me regocijo y comparto mi gozo con todos ustedes.

18 b ecause of this do ye also rejoice and joy with me.

Y también ustedes, les ruego, regocíjense de la misma manera, y compartan su gozo conmigo. Timoteo y Epafrodito, Soldados Fieles

19 A nd I hope, in the Lord Jesus, Timotheus to send quickly to you, that I also may be of good spirit, having known the things concerning you,

Pero espero (confío) en el Señor Jesús enviarles pronto a Timoteo, a fin de que yo también sea alentado al saber de la condición de ustedes.

20 f or I have no one like-minded, who sincerely for the things concerning you will care,

Pues a nadie más tengo del mismo sentir y que esté sinceramente interesado en el bienestar de ustedes.

21 f or the whole seek their own things, not the things of the Christ Jesus,

Porque todos buscan sus propios intereses, no los de Cristo Jesús.

22 a nd the proof of him ye know, that as a child a father, with me he did serve in regard to the good news;

Pero ustedes conocen los probados méritos de Timoteo, que sirvió conmigo en la propagación del evangelio como un hijo sirve a su padre.

23 h im, indeed, therefore, I hope to send, when I may see through the things concerning me -- immediately;

Por tanto, a éste espero enviárselo inmediatamente tan pronto vea cómo van las cosas conmigo;

24 a nd I trust in the Lord that I myself also shall quickly come.

y confío en el Señor que también yo mismo iré pronto.

25 A nd I thought necessary Epaphroditus -- my brother, and fellow-workman, and fellow-soldier, and your apostle and servant to my need -- to send unto you,

Pero creí necesario enviarles a Epafrodito, mi hermano, colaborador y compañero de lucha, quien también es su mensajero y servidor (ministro) para mis necesidades.

26 s eeing he was longing after you all, and in heaviness, because ye heard that he ailed,

Porque él los extrañaba a todos, y estaba angustiado porque ustedes habían oído que se había enfermado.

27 f or he also ailed nigh to death, but God did deal kindly with him, and not with him only, but also with me, that sorrow upon sorrow I might not have.

Pues en verdad estuvo enfermo, a punto de morir. Pero Dios tuvo misericordia de él, y no sólo de él, sino también de mí, para que yo no tuviera tristeza sobre tristeza.

28 T he more eagerly, therefore, I did send him, that having seen him again ye may rejoice, and I may be the less sorrowful;

Así que lo he enviado con mayor solicitud, para que al verlo de nuevo, se regocijen y yo esté más tranquilo en cuanto a ustedes.

29 r eceive him, therefore, in the Lord, with all joy, and hold such in honour,

Recíbanlo, pues, en el Señor con todo gozo, y tengan en alta estima a los que son como él.

30 b ecause on account of the work of the Christ he drew near to death, having hazarded the life that he might fill up your deficiency of service unto me.

Porque estuvo al borde de la muerte por la obra de Cristo, arriesgando su vida para completar lo que faltaba en el servicio de ustedes hacia mí.
