1 I t hath been good before Darius, and he hath established over the kingdom satraps -- a hundred and twenty -- that they may be throughout the whole kingdom,

Le pareció bien a Darío constituir sobre el reino 120 sátrapas que gobernaran en todo el reino,

2 a nd higher than they three presidents, of whom Daniel first, that these satraps may give to them an account, and the king have no loss.

y sobre ellos, tres funcionarios (uno de los cuales era Daniel ) a quienes estos sátrapas rindieran cuenta, para que el rey no fuera perjudicado.

3 T hen this Daniel hath been overseer over the presidents and satraps, because that an excellent spirit in him, and the king hath thought to establish him over the whole kingdom.

Pero este mismo Daniel sobresalía entre los funcionarios y sátrapas porque había en él un espíritu extraordinario, de modo que el rey pensó ponerlo sobre todo el reino.

4 T hen the presidents and satraps have been seeking to find a cause of complaint against Daniel concerning the kingdom, and any cause of complaint and corruption they are not able to find, because that he faithful, and any error and corruption have not been found in him.

Entonces los funcionarios y sátrapas buscaron un motivo para acusar a Daniel con respecto a los asuntos del reino. Pero no pudieron encontrar ningún motivo de acusación ni evidencia alguna de corrupción, por cuanto él era fiel, y ninguna negligencia ni corrupción podía hallarse en él.

5 T hen these men are saying, `We do not find against this Daniel any cause of complaint, except we have found against him in the law of his God.'

Entonces estos hombres dijeron: “No encontraremos ningún motivo de acusación contra este Daniel a menos que encontremos algo contra él en relación con la ley de su Dios.”

6 T hen these presidents and satraps have assembled near the king, and thus they are saying to him: `O king Darius, to the ages live!

Estos funcionarios y sátrapas, de común acuerdo, fueron entonces al rey y le dijeron así: “¡Rey Darío, viva para siempre!

7 T aken counsel have all the presidents of the kingdom, the prefects, and the satraps, the counsellors, and the governors, to establish a royal statute, and to strengthen an interdict, that any who seeketh a petition from any god and man until thirty days, save of thee, O king, is cast into a den of lions.

Todos los funcionarios del reino, prefectos, sátrapas, altos oficiales y gobernadores, han acordado que el rey promulgue un edicto y ponga en vigor el mandato de que cualquiera que en el término de treinta días haga petición a cualquier dios u hombre fuera de usted, oh rey, sea echado en el foso de los leones.

8 N ow, O king, thou dost establish the interdict, and sign the writing, that it is not to be changed, as a law of Media and Persia, that doth not pass away.'

Ahora pues, oh rey, promulgue el mandato y firme el documento para que no sea modificado, conforme a la ley de los Medos y Persas, que no puede ser revocada.”

9 T herefore king Darius hath signed the writing and interdict.

Por tanto, el rey Darío firmó el documento, esto es, el mandato.

10 A nd Daniel, when he hath known that the writing is signed, hath gone up to his house, and the window being opened for him, in his upper chamber, over-against Jerusalem, three times in a day he is kneeling on his knees, and praying, and confessing before his God, because that he was doing before this.

Cuando Daniel supo que había sido firmado el documento, entró en su casa (en su aposento superior tenía ventanas abiertas en dirección a Jerusalén ), y como solía hacerlo antes, continuó arrodillándose tres veces al día, orando y dando gracias delante de su Dios.

11 T hen these men have assembled, and found Daniel praying and entreating grace before his God;

Entonces estos hombres, de común acuerdo, fueron y encontraron a Daniel orando y suplicando delante de su Dios;

12 t hen they have come near, yea, they are saying before the king concerning the king's interdict: `Hast thou not signed an interdict, that any man who seeketh from any god and man until thirty days, save of thee, O king, is cast into a den of lions?' Answered hath the king, and said, `The thing certain as a law of Media and Persia, that doth not pass away.'

por lo cual se presentaron ante el rey y le hablaron tocante al mandato real: “¿No firmó usted un mandato que cualquier hombre que en el término de treinta días hiciera petición a cualquier dios u hombre fuera de usted, oh rey, fuera echado en el foso de los leones?” “La orden es cierta, conforme a la ley de los Medos y Persas, que no puede ser revocada,” respondió el rey.

13 T hen they have answered, yea, they are saying before the king, that, `Daniel, who of the sons of the Removed of Judah, hath not placed on thee, O king, regard, nor on the interdict that thou hast signed, and three times in a day he is seeking his petition.'

Entonces ellos respondieron: “Daniel, que es uno de los deportados de Judá, no le hace caso, oh rey, ni del mandato que usted firmó, sino que tres veces al día hace su oración.”

14 T hen the king, when he hath heard the matter, is greatly displeased at himself, and on Daniel he hath set the heart to deliver him, and till the going up of the sun he was arranging to deliver him.

Al oír estas palabras, el rey se afligió mucho y se propuso librar a Daniel. Y hasta la puesta del sol estuvo buscando la manera de librarlo.

15 T hen these men have assembled near the king, and are saying to the king, `know, O king, that the law of Media and Persia: That any interdict and statute that the king doth establish is not to be changed.'

Entonces aquellos hombres vinieron de común acuerdo al rey y le dijeron: “Reconozca, oh rey, que es ley de los Medos y Persas que ningún mandato o edicto que el rey establezca, puede ser revocado.”

16 T hen the king hath said, and they have brought Daniel, and have cast into a den of lions. The king hath answered and said to Daniel, `Thy God, whom thou art serving continually, Himself doth deliver thee.'

El rey entonces dio órdenes que trajeran a Daniel y lo echaran en el foso de los leones. El rey habló a Daniel y le dijo: “Tu Dios, a quien sirves con perseverancia, El te librará.”

17 A nd a stone hath been brought and placed at the mouth of the den, and the king hath sealed it with his signet, and with the signet of his great men, that the purpose be not changed concerning Daniel.

Trajeron una piedra y la pusieron sobre la boca del foso. El rey la selló con su anillo y con los anillos de sus nobles, para que nada pudiera cambiarse de lo ordenado en cuanto a Daniel.

18 T hen hath the king gone to his palace, and he hath passed the night fasting, and dahavan have not been brought up before him, and his sleep hath fled off him.

Después el rey se fue a su palacio y pasó la noche en ayuno. Ningún entretenimiento fue traído ante él y se le fue el sueño.

19 T hen doth the king rise in the early morning, at the light, and in haste to the den of lions he hath gone;

Entonces el rey se levantó al amanecer, al rayar el alba, y fue a toda prisa al foso de los leones.

20 a nd at his coming near to the den, to Daniel, with a grieved voice, he crieth. The king hath answered and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, thy God, whom thou art serving continually, is He able to deliver thee from the lions?'

Y acercándose al foso, gritó a Daniel con voz angustiada. El rey habló a Daniel y le dijo: “Daniel, siervo del Dios viviente, tu Dios, a quien sirves con perseverancia, ¿te ha podido librar de los leones ?”

21 T hen Daniel hath spoken with the king: `O king, to the ages live:

Entonces Daniel respondió al rey: “Oh rey, viva para siempre.

22 m y God hath sent His messenger, and hath shut the lions' mouths, and they have not injured me: because that before Him purity hath been found in me; and also before thee, O king, injury I have not done.'

Mi Dios envió Su ángel, que cerró la boca de los leones, y no me han hecho daño alguno porque fui hallado inocente ante El. Y tampoco ante usted, oh rey, he cometido crimen alguno.”

23 T hen was the king very glad for him, and he hath commanded Daniel to be taken up out of the den, and Daniel hath been taken up out of the den, and no injury hath been found in him, because he hath believed in his God.

El rey entonces se alegró mucho y mandó sacar a Daniel del foso. Cuando Daniel fue sacado del foso, no se encontró en él lesión alguna, porque había confiado en su Dios.

24 A nd the king hath said, and they have brought those men who had accused Daniel, and to the den of lions they have cast them, they, their sons, and their wives; and they have not come to the lower part of the den till that the lions have power over them, and all their bones they have broken small.

El rey dio órdenes que trajeran a aquellos hombres que habían acusado falsamente a Daniel, y que los echaran, a ellos, a sus hijos y a sus mujeres en el foso de los leones. No habían llegado aún al fondo del foso, cuando ya los leones se habían apoderado de ellos y triturado todos sus huesos.

25 T hen Darius the king hath written to all the peoples, nations, and languages, who are dwelling in all the land: `Your peace be great!

Entonces el rey Darío escribió a todos los pueblos, naciones y lenguas que habitaban en toda la tierra: “Que abunde su paz.

26 F rom before me is made a decree, that in every dominion of my kingdom they are trembling and fearing before the God of Daniel, for He the living God, and abiding to the ages, and His kingdom that which not destroyed, and His dominion unto the end.

De parte mía se proclama un decreto de que en todo el dominio de mi reino todos teman y tiemblen delante del Dios de Daniel, Porque El es el Dios viviente que permanece para siempre, Y Su reino no será destruido Y Su dominio durará para siempre.

27 A deliverer, and rescuer, and doer of signs and wonders in the heavens and in earth He who hath delivered Daniel from the paw of the lions.'

El es el que libra y rescata, hace señales y maravillas En el cielo y en la tierra, El que ha librado a Daniel del poder de los leones.”

28 A nd this Daniel hath prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

Y este mismo Daniel prosperó durante el reinado de Darío y durante el reinado de Ciro el Persa.
