1 A nd he heareth the words of Laban's sons, saying, `Jacob hath taken all that our father hath; yea, from that which our father hath, he hath made all this honour;'

Jacó, entretanto, ouviu as palavras dos filhos de Labão, que diziam: Jacó tem levado tudo o que era de nosso pai, e do que era de nosso pai adquiriu ele todas estas, riquezas.

2 a nd Jacob seeth the face of Laban, and lo, it is not with him as heretofore.

Viu também Jacó o rosto de Labão, e eis que não era para com ele como dantes.

3 A nd Jehovah saith unto Jacob, `Turn back unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred, and I am with thee.'

Disse o Senhor, então, a Jacó: Volta para a terra de teus pais e para a tua parentela; e eu serei contigo.

4 A nd Jacob sendeth and calleth for Rachel and for Leah to the field unto his flock;

Pelo que Jacó mandou chamar a Raquel e a Léia ao campo, onde estava o seu rebanho,

5 a nd saith to them, `I am beholding your father's face -- that it is not towards me as heretofore, and the God of my father hath been with me,

e lhes disse: vejo que o rosto de vosso pai para comigo não é como anteriormente; porém o Deus de meu pai tem estado comigo.

6 a nd ye -- ye have known that with all my power I have served your father,

Ora, vós mesmas sabeis que com todas as minhas forças tenho servido a vosso pai.

7 a nd your father hath played upon me, and hath changed my hire ten times; and God hath not suffered him to do evil with me.

Mas vosso pai me tem enganado, e dez vezes mudou o meu salário; Deus, porém, não lhe permitiu que me fizesse mal.

8 ` If he say thus: The speckled are thy hire, then bare all the flock speckled ones; and if he say thus: The ring-straked are thy hire, then bare all the flock ring-straked;

Quando ele dizia assim: Os salpicados serão o teu salário; então todo o rebanho dava salpicados. E quando ele dizia assim: Os listrados serão o teu salário, então todo o rebanho dava listrados.

9 a nd God taketh away the substance of your father, and doth give to me.

De modo que Deus tem tirado o gado de vosso pai, e mo tem dado a mim.

10 ` And it cometh to pass at the time of the flock conceiving, that I lift up mine eyes and see in a dream, and lo, the he-goats, which are going up on the flock, ring-straked, speckled, and grisled;

Pois sucedeu que, ao tempo em que o rebanho concebia, levantei os olhos e num sonho vi que os bodes que cobriam o rebanho eram listrados, salpicados e malhados.

11 a nd the messenger of God saith unto me in the dream, Jacob, and I say, Here I.

Disse-me o anjo de Deus no sonho: Jacó! Eu respondi: Eis-me aqui.

12 ` And He saith, Lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes, and see -- all the he-goats which are going up on the flock ring-straked, speckled, and grisled, for I have seen all that Laban is doing to thee;

Prosseguiu o anjo: Levanta os teus olhos e vê que todos os bodes que cobrem o rebanho são listrados, salpicados e malhados; porque tenho visto tudo o que Labão te vem fazendo.

13 I the God of Bethel where thou hast anointed a standing pillar, where thou hast vowed a vow to me; now, arise, go out from this land, and turn back unto the land of thy birth.'

Eu sou o Deus de Betel, onde ungiste uma coluna, onde me fizeste um voto; levanta-te, pois, sai-te desta terra e volta para a terra da tua parentela.

14 A nd Rachel answereth -- Leah also -- and saith to him, `Have we yet a portion and inheritance in the house of our father?

Então lhe responderam Raquel e Léia: Temos nós ainda parte ou herança na casa de nosso pai?

15 h ave we not been reckoned strangers to him? for he hath sold us, and he also utterly consumeth our money;

Não somos tidas por ele como estrangeiras? pois nos vendeu, e consumiu todo o nosso preço.

16 f or all the wealth which God hath taken away from our father, it ours, and our children's; and now, all that God hath said unto thee -- do.'

Toda a riqueza que Deus tirou de nosso pai é nossa e de nossos filhos; portanto, faze tudo o que Deus te mandou.

17 A nd Jacob riseth, and lifteth up his sons and his wives on the camels,

Levantou-se, pois, Jacó e fez montar seus filhos e suas mulheres sobre os camelos;

18 a nd leadeth all his cattle, and all his substance which he hath acquired, the cattle of his getting, which he hath acquired in Padan-Aram, to go unto Isaac his father, to the land of Canaan.

e levou todo o seu gado, e toda a sua fazenda, que havia adquirido, o gado que possuía, que havia adquirido em Padã-Arã, a fim de ir ter com Isaque, seu pai, ã terra de Canaã.

19 A nd Laban hath gone to shear his flock, and Rachel stealeth the teraphim which her father hath;

Ora, tendo Labão ido tosquiar as suas ovelhas, Raquel furtou os ídolos que pertenciam a seu pai.

20 a nd Jacob deceiveth the heart of Laban the Aramaean, because he hath not declared to him that he is fleeing;

Jacó iludiu a Labão, o arameu, não lhe fazendo saber que fugia;

21 a nd he fleeth, he and all that he hath, and riseth, and passeth over the River, and setteth his face the mount of Gilead.

e fugiu com tudo o que era seu; e, levantando-se, passou o Rio, e foi em direção ã montanha de Gileade.

22 A nd it is told to Laban on the third day that Jacob hath fled,

Ao terceiro dia foi Labão avisado de que Jacó havia fugido.

23 a nd he taketh his brethren with him, and pursueth after him a journey of seven days, and overtaketh him in the mount of Gilead.

Então, tomando consigo seus irmãos, seguiu atrás de Jacó jornada de sete dias; e alcançou-o na montanha de Gileade.

24 A nd God cometh in unto Laban the Aramaean in a dream of the night, and saith to him, `Take heed to thyself lest thou speak with Jacob from good unto evil.'

Mas Deus apareceu de noite em sonho a Labão, o arameu, e disse-lhe: Guardate, que não fales a Jacó nem bem nem mal.

25 A nd Laban overtaketh Jacob; and Jacob hath fixed his tent in the mount; and Laban with his brethren have fixed in the mount of Gilead.

Alcançou, pois, Labão a Jacó. Ora, Jacó tinha armado a sua tenda na montanha; armou também Labão com os seus irmãos a sua tenda na montanha de Gileade.

26 A nd Laban saith to Jacob, `What hast thou done that thou dost deceive my heart, and lead away my daughters as captives of the sword?

Então disse Labão a Jacó: Que fizeste, que me iludiste e levaste minhas filhas como cativas da espada?

27 W hy hast thou hidden thyself to flee, and deceivest me, and hast not declared to me, and I send thee away with joy and with songs, with tabret and with harp,

Por que fuizeste ocultamente, e me iludiste e não mo fizeste saber, para que eu te enviasse com alegria e com cânticos, ao som de tambores e de harpas;

28 a nd hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? -- now thou hast acted foolishly in doing;

Por que não me permitiste beijar meus filhos e minhas filhas? Ora, assim procedeste nesciamente.

29 m y hand is to God to do evil with you, but the God of your father yesternight hath spoken unto me, saying, Take heed to thyself from speaking with Jacob from good unto evil.

Está no poder da minha mão fazer-vos o mal, mas o Deus de vosso pai falou-me ontem ã noite, dizendo: Guarda-te, que não fales a Jacó nem bem nem mal.

30 ` And now, thou hast certainly gone, because thou hast been very desirous for the house of thy father; why hast thou stolen my gods?'

Mas ainda que quiseste ir embora, porquanto tinhas saudades da casa de teu pai, por que furtaste os meus deuses?

31 A nd Jacob answereth and saith to Laban, `Because I was afraid, for I said, Lest thou take violently away thy daughters from me;

Respondeu-lhe Jacó: Porque tive medo; pois dizia comigo que tu me arrebatarias as tuas filhas.

32 w ith whomsoever thou findest thy gods -- he doth not live; before our brethren discern for thyself what with me, and take to thyself:' and Jacob hath not known that Rachel hath stolen them.

Com quem achares os teus deuses, porém, esse não viverá; diante de nossos irmãos descobre o que é teu do que está comigo, e leva-o contigo. Pois Jacó não sabia que Raquel os tinha furtado.

33 A nd Laban goeth into the tent of Jacob, and into the tent of Leah, and into the tent of the two handmaidens, and hath not found; and he goeth out from the tent of Leah, and goeth into the tent of Rachel.

Entrou, pois, Labão na tenda de Jacó, na tenda de Léia e na tenda das duas servas, e não os achou; e, saindo da tenda de Léia, entrou na tenda de Raquel.

34 A nd Rachel hath taken the teraphim, and putteth them in the furniture of the camel, and sitteth upon them; and Laban feeleth all the tent, and hath not found;

Ora, Raquel havia tomado os ídolos e os havia metido na albarda do camelo, e se assentara em cima deles. Labão apalpou toda a tenda, mas não os achou.

35 a nd she saith unto her father, `Let it not be displeasing in the eyes of my lord that I am not able to rise at thy presence, for the way of women on me;' and he searcheth, and hath not found the teraphim.

E ela disse a seu pai: Não se acenda a ira nos olhos de meu senhor, por eu não me poder levantar na tua presença, pois estou com o incômodo das mulheres. Assim ele procurou, mas não achou os ídolos.

36 A nd it is displeasing to Jacob, and he striveth with Laban; and Jacob answereth and saith to Laban, `What my transgression? what my sin, that thou hast burned after me?

Então irou-se Jacó e contendeu com Labão, dizendo: Qual é a minha transgressão? qual é o meu pecado, que tão furiosamente me tens perseguido?

37 f or thou hast felt all my vessels: what hast thou found of all the vessels of thy house? set here before my brethren, and thy brethren, and they decide between us both.

Depois de teres apalpado todos os meus móveis, que achaste de todos os móveis da tua casar. Põe-no aqui diante de meus irmãos e de teus irmãos, para que eles julguem entre nós ambos.

38 ` These twenty years I with thee: thy ewes and thy she-goats have not miscarried, and the rams of thy flock I have not eaten;

Estes vinte anos estive eu contigo; as tuas ovelhas e as tuas cabras nunca abortaram, e não comi os carneiros do teu rebanho.

39 t he torn I have not brought in unto thee -- I, I repay it -- from my hand thou dost seek it; I have been deceived by day, and I have been deceived by night;

Não te trouxe eu o despedaçado; eu sofri o dano; da minha mão requerias tanto o furtado de dia como o furtado de noite.

40 I have been: in the day consumed me hath drought, and frost by night, and wander doth my sleep from mine eyes.

Assim andava eu; de dia me consumia o calor, e de noite a geada; e o sono me fugia dos olhos.

41 ` This to me twenty years in thy house: I have served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy flock; and thou changest my hire ten times;

Estive vinte anos em tua casa; catorze anos te servi por tuas duas filhas, e seis anos por teu rebanho; dez vezes mudaste o meu salário.

42 u nless the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac, had been for me, surely now empty thou hadst sent me away; mine affliction and the labour of my hands hath God seen, and reproveth yesternight.'

Se o Deus de meu pai, o Deus de Abraão e o Temor de Isaque não fora por mim, certamente hoje me mandarias embora vazio. Mas Deus tem visto a minha aflição e o trabalho das minhas mãos, e repreendeu-te ontem ã noite.

43 A nd Laban answereth and saith unto Jacob, `The daughters my daughters, and the sons my sons, and the flock my flock, and all that thou art seeing mine; and to my daughters -- what do I to these to-day, or to their sons whom they have born?

Respondeu-lhe Labão: Estas filhas são minhas filhas, e estes filhos são meus filhos, e este rebanho é meu rebanho, e tudo o que vês é meu; e que farei hoje a estas minhas filhas, ou aos filhos que elas tiveram?

44 a nd now, come, let us make a covenant, I and thou, and it hath been for a witness between me and thee.'

Agora pois vem, e façamos um pacto, eu e tu; e sirva ele de testemunha entre mim e ti.

45 A nd Jacob taketh a stone, and lifteth it up a standing pillar;

Então tomou Jacó uma pedra, e a erigiu como coluna.

46 a nd Jacob saith to his brethren, `Gather stones,' and they take stones, and make a heap; and they eat there on the heap;

E disse a seus irmãos: Ajuntai pedras. Tomaram, pois, pedras e fizeram um montão, e ali junto ao montão comeram.

47 a nd Laban calleth it Jegar-Sahadutha; and Jacob hath called it Galeed.

Labão lhe chamou Jegar-Saaduta, e Jacó chamou-lhe Galeede.

48 A nd Laban saith, `This heap witness between me and thee to-day;' therefore hath he called its name Galeed;

Disse, pois, Labão: Este montão é hoje testemunha entre mim e ti. Por isso foi chamado Galeede;

49 M izpah also, for he said, `Jehovah doth watch between me and thee, for we are hidden one from another;

e também Mizpá, porquanto disse: Vigie o Senhor entre mim e ti, quando estivermos apartados um do outro.

50 i f thou afflict my daughters, or take wives beside my daughters -- there is no man with us -- see, God witness between me and thee.'

Se afligires as minhas filhas, e se tomares outras mulheres além das minhas filhas, embora ninguém esteja conosco, lembra-te de que Deus é testemunha entre mim e ti.

51 A nd Laban saith to Jacob, `Lo, this heap, and lo, the standing pillar which I have cast between me and thee;

Disse ainda Labão a Jacó: Eis aqui este montão, e eis aqui a coluna que levantei entre mim e ti.

52 t his heap witness, and the standing pillar witness, that I do not pass over this heap unto thee, and that thou dost not pass over this heap and this standing pillar unto me -- for evil;

Seja este montão testemunha, e seja esta coluna testemunha de que, para mal, nem passarei eu deste montão a ti, nem passarás tu deste montão e desta coluna a mim.

53 t he God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, doth judge between us -- the God of their father,' and Jacob sweareth by the Fear of his father Isaac.

O Deus de Abraão e o Deus de Naor, o Deus do pai deles, julgue entre nós. E jurou Jacó pelo Temor de seu pai Isaque.

54 A nd Jacob sacrificeth a sacrifice in the mount, and calleth to his brethren to eat bread, and they eat bread, and lodge in the mount;

Então Jacó ofereceu um sacrifício na montanha, e convidou seus irmãos para comerem pão; e, tendo comido, passaram a noite na montanha.

55 a nd Laban riseth early in the morning, and kisseth his sons and his daughters, and blesseth them; and Laban goeth on, and turneth back to his place.

Levantou-se Labão de manhã cedo, beijou seus filhos e suas filhas e os abençoou; e, partindo, voltou para o seu lugar.
