1 A fter these things hath the king Ahasuerus exalted Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and lifteth him up, and setteth his throne above all the heads who with him,

Depois destas coisas o rei Assuero engrandeceu a Hamã, filho de Hamedata, o agagita, e o exaltou, pondo-lhe o assento acima dos de todos os príncipes que estavam com ele.

2 a nd all servants of the king, who in the gate of the king, are bowing and doing obeisance to Haman, for so hath the king commanded for him; and Mordecai doth not bow nor do obeisance.

E todos os servos do rei que estavam ã porta do rei se inclinavam e se prostravam perante Hamã, porque assim ordenara o rei a seu respeito: porém Mardoqueu não se inclinava nem se prostrava.

3 A nd the servants of the king, who in the gate of the king, say to Mordecai, `Wherefore thou transgressing the command of the king?'

Então os servos do rei que estavam ã porta do rei disseram a Mardoqueu: Por que transgrides a ordem do rei?

4 A nd it cometh to pass, in their speaking unto him, day by day, and he hath not hearkened unto them, that they declare to Haman, to see whether the words of Mordecai do stand, for he hath declared to them that he a Jew.

E sucedeu que, dizendo-lhe eles isso dia após dia, e não lhes dando ele ouvidos, o fizeram saber a Hamã, para verem se o procedimento de Mardoqueu seria tolerado; pois ele lhes tinha declarado que era judeu.

5 A nd Haman seeth that Mordecai is not bowing and doing obeisance to him, and Haman is full of fury,

Vendo, pois, Hamã que Mardoqueu não se inclinava nem se prostrava diante dele, encheu-se de furor.

6 a nd it is contemptible in his eyes to put forth a hand on Mordecai by himself, for they have declared to him the people of Mordecai, and Haman seeketh to destroy all the Jews who in all the kingdom of Ahasuerus -- the people of Mordecai.

Mas, achou pouco tirar a vida somente a Mardoqueu; porque lhe haviam declarado o povo de Mardoqueu. Por esse motivo Hamã procurou destruir todos os judeus, o povo de Mardoqueu, que havia em todo o reino de Assuero.

7 I n the first month -- it the month of Nisan -- in the twelfth year of the king Ahasuerus, hath one caused to fall Pur (that the lot) before Haman, from day to day, and from month to month, the twelfth, it the month of Adar.

No primeiro mês, que é o mês de nisã, no ano duodécimo do rei Assuero, se lançou Pur, isto é, a sorte, perante Hamã, para cada dia e para mês, até o duodécimo, que é o mês de adar.

8 A nd Haman saith to the king Ahasuerus, `There is one people scattered and separated among the peoples, in all provinces of thy kingdom, and their laws diverse from all people, and the laws of the king they are not doing, and for the king it is not profitable to suffer them;

E Hamã disse ao rei Assuero: Existe espalhado e disperso entre os povos em todas as províncias do teu reino um povo, cujas leis são diferentes das leis de todos os povos, e que não cumprem as leis do rei; pelo que não convém ao rei tolerá-lo.

9 i f to the king good, let it be written to destroy them, and ten thousand talents of silver I weigh into the hands of those doing the work, to bring in unto the treasuries of the king.'

Se bem parecer ao rei, decrete-se que seja destruído; e eu pagarei dez mil talentos de prata aos encarregados dos negócios do rei, para os recolherem ao tesouro do rei.

10 A nd the king turneth aside his signet from off his hand, and giveth it to Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite, adversary of the Jews;

Então o rei tirou do seu dedo o anel, e o deu a Hamã, filho de Hamedata, o agagita, o inimigo dos judeus;

11 a nd the king saith to Haman, `The silver is given to thee, and the people, to do with it as good in thine eyes.'

e disse o rei a Hamã: Essa prata te é dada, como também esse povo, para fazeres dele o que bem parecer aos teus olhos.

12 A nd scribes of the king are called, on the first month, on the thirteenth day of it, and it is written according to all that Haman hath commanded, unto lieutenants of the king, and unto the governors who over province and province, and unto the heads of people and people, province and province, according to its writing, and people and people according to its tongue, in the name of the king Ahasuerus it hath been written and sealed with the signet of the king,

Então foram chamados os secretários do rei no primeiro mês, no dia treze do mesmo e, conforme tudo, quando Hamã ordenou, se escreveu aos sátrapas do rei, e aos governadores que havia sobre todas as províncias, e aos príncipes de todos os povos; a cada província segundo o seu modo de escrever, e a cada povo segundo a sua língua; em nome do rei Assuero se escreveu, e com o anel do rei se selou.

13 a nd letters to be sent by the hand of the runners unto all provinces of the king, to cut off, to slay, and to destroy all the Jews, from young even unto old, infant and women, on one day, on the thirteenth of the twelfth month -- it the month of Adar -- and their spoil to seize,

Entiaram-se as cartas pelos correios a todas províncias do rei, para que destruíssem, matassem, e fizessem perecer todos os judeus, moços e velhos, crianças e mulheres, em um mesmo dia, a treze do duodécimo mês, que é o mês de adar, e para que lhes saqueassem os bens.

14 a copy of the writing to be made law in every province and province is revealed to all the peoples, to be ready for this day.

Uma cópia do documento havia de ser publicada como decreto em cada província, para que todos os povos estivessem preparados para aquele dia.

15 T he runners have gone forth, hastened by the word of the king, and the law hath been given in Shushan the palace, and the king and Haman have sat down to drink, and the city Shushan is perplexed.
