1 A nd king David old, entering into days, and they cover him with garments, and he hath no heat,

Ora, o rei Davi era já velho, de idade mui avançada; e por mais que o cobrissem de roupas não se aquecia.

2 a nd his servants say to him, `Let them seek for my lord the king a young woman, a virgin, and she hath stood before the king, and is to him a companion, and hath lain in thy bosom, and my lord the king hath heat.'

Disseram-lhe, pois, os seus servos: Busque-se para o rei meu senhor uma jovem donzela, que esteja perante o rei, e tenha cuidado dele; e durma no seu seio, para que o rei meu senhor se aqueça.

3 A nd they seek a fair young woman in all the border of Israel, and find Abishag the Shunammite, and bring her in to the king,

Assim buscaram por todos os termos de Israel uma jovem formosa; e acharam Abisague, a sunamita, e a trouxeram ao rei.

4 a nd the young woman very very fair, and she is to the king a companion, and serveth him, and the king hath not known her.

Era a jovem sobremaneira formosa; e cuidava do rei, e o servia; porém o rei não a conheceu.

5 A nd Adonijah son of Haggith is lifting himself up, saying, `I do reign;' and he prepareth for himself a chariot and horsemen, and fifty men running before him,

Então Adonias, filho de Hagite, se exaltou e disse: Eu reinarei. E preparou para si carros e cavaleiros, e cinqüenta homens que corressem adiante dele.

6 a nd his father hath not grieved him his days, saying, `Wherefore thus hast thou done?' and he also of a very good form, and bare him after Absalom.

Ora, nunca seu pai o tinha contrariado, dizendo: Por que fizeste assim? Além disso, era ele muito formoso de parecer; e era mais moço do que Absalão.

7 A nd his words are with Joab son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest, and they help after Adonijah;

E teve entendimento com Joabe, filho de Zeruia, e com o sacerdote Abiatar, os quais aderiram a ele e o ajudavam.

8 a nd Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty ones whom David hath, have not been with Adonijah.

Mas Zadoque, o sacerdote, e Benaías, filho de Jeoiada, e Natã, o profeta, e Simei, e Rei, e os valentes que Davi tinha, não eram por Adonias.

9 A nd Adonijah sacrificeth sheep and oxen and fatlings near the stone of Zoheleth, that by En-Rogel, and calleth all his brethren, sons of the king, and for all the men of Judah, servants of the king;

Adonias matou ovelhas, bois e animais cevados, junto ã pedra de Zoelete, que está perto de En-Rogel; e convidou a todos os seus irmãos, os filhos do rei, e a todos os homens de Judá, servos do rei;

10 a nd Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty ones, and Solomon his brother, he hath not called.

porém a Natã, o profeta, e a Benaías, e aos valentes, e a Salomão, seu irmão, não os convidou.

11 A nd Nathan speaketh unto Bath-Sheba, mother of Solomon, saying, `Hast thou not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith hath reigned, and our lord David hath not known?

Então falou Natã a Bate-Seba, mãe de Salomão, dizendo: Não ouviste que Adonias, filho de Hagite, reina? e que nosso senhor Davi não o sabe?

12 a nd now, come, let me counsel thee, I pray thee, and deliver thy life, and the life of thy son Solomon;

Vem, pois, agora e deixa-me dar-te um conselho, para que salves a tua vida, e a de teu filho Salomão.

13 g o and enter in unto king David, and thou hast said unto him, Hast thou not, my lord, O king, sworn to thy handmaid, saying, Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne? and wherefore hath Adonijah reigned?

Vai ã presença do rei Davi, e dize-lhe: Não juraste, ó rei meu senhor, ã tua serva, dizendo: Certamente teu filho Salomão reinará depois de mim, e se assentará no meu trono? Por que, pois, reina Adonias?

14 L o, thou are yet speaking there with the king, and I come in after thee, and have completed thy words.'

Eis que, estando tu ainda a falar com o rei, eu também entrarei depois de ti, e confirmarei as tuas palavras.

15 A nd Bath-Sheba cometh in unto the king, to the inner chamber, and the king very aged, and Abishag the Shunammite is serving the king:

Foi, pois, Bate-Seba ã presença do rei na sua câmara. Ele era mui velho; e Abisague, a sunamita, o servia.

16 a nd Bath-Sheba boweth and doth obeisance to the king, and the king saith, `What -- to thee?'

Bate-Seba inclinou a cabeça, e se prostrou perante o rei. Então o rei lhe perguntou: Que queres?

17 A nd she saith to him, `My lord, thou hast sworn by Jehovah thy God to thy handmaid: Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne;

Respondeu-lhe ela: Senhor meu, tu juraste ã tua serva pelo Senhor teu Deus, dizendo: Salomão, teu filho, reinará depois de mim, e se assentará no meu trono.

18 a nd now, lo, Adonijah hath reigned, and now, my lord, O king, thou hast not known;

E agora eis que Adonias reina; e tu, ó rei meu senhor, não o sabes.

19 a nd he sacrificeth ox, and fatling, and sheep in abundance, and calleth for all the sons of the king, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab head of the host -- and for Solomon thy servant he hath not called.

Ele matou bois, animais cevados e ovelhas em abundância, e convidou a todos os filhos do rei, e a Abiatar, o sacerdote, e a Joabe, general do exército; mas a teu servo Salomão não o convidou.

20 A nd thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel on thee, to declare to them who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king after him;

Mas, ó rei meu senhor, os olhos de todo o Israel estão sobre ti, para que lhes declares quem há de assentar-se no teu trono depois de ti.

21 a nd it hath been, when my lord the king lieth with his fathers, that I have been, I and my son Solomon -- sinners.'

Doutro modo sucederá que, quando o rei meu senhor dormir com seus pais, eu e Salomão meu filho seremos tidos por ofensores.

22 A nd lo, she is yet speaking with the king, and Nathan the prophet hath come in;

Enquanto ela ainda falava com o rei, eis que chegou o profeta Natã.

23 a nd they declare to the king, saying, `Lo, Nathan the prophet;' and he cometh in before the king, and boweth himself to the king, on his face to the earth.

E o fizeram saber ao rei, dizendo: Eis aí está o profeta Natã. Entrou Natã ã presença do rei, inclinou-se perante ele com o rosto em terra,

24 A nd Nathan saith, `My lord, O king, thou hast said, Adonijah doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne;

e disse: ç rei meu senhor, acaso disseste: Adonias reinará depois de mim, e se assentará no meu trono?

25 f or he hath gone down to-day, and doth sacrifice ox, and fatling, and sheep, in abundance, and calleth for all the sons of the king, and for the heads of the host, and for Abiathar the priest, and lo, they are eating and drinking before him, and they say, Let king Adonijah live!

Pois ele hoje desceu, e matou bois, animais cevados e ovelhas em abundância, e convidou a todos os filhos do rei, e aos chefes do exército, e ao sacerdote Abiatar; e eis que comem e bebem perante ele, e dizem: Viva o rei Adonias!

26 ` And for me -- me, thy servant, and for Zadok the priest, and for Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, and for Solomon thy servant, he hath not called;

Porém a mim teu servo, e ao sacerdote Zadoque, e a Benaías, filho de Jeoiada, e ao teu servo Salomão, não convidou.

27 i f from my lord the king this thing hath been, then thou hast not caused thy servant to know who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.'

Foi feito isso da parte do rei meu senhor? e não fizeste saber a teu servo quem havia de assentar-se no teu trono depois de ti?

28 A nd king David answereth and saith, `Call for me for Bath-Sheba;' and she cometh in before the king, and standeth before the king.

Respondeu o rei Davi: Chamai-me a Bate-Seba. E ela entrou ã presença do rei, e ficou de pé diante dele.

29 A nd the king sweareth and saith, `Jehovah liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity;

Então o rei jurou, dizendo: Vive o Senhor, o qual remiu a minha alma de toda a angústia,

30 s urely as I sware to thee by Jehovah, God of Israel, saying, Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne in my stead; surely so I do this day.'

que, assim como te jurei pelo Senhor Deus de Israel, dizendo: Teu filho Salomão há de reinar depois de mim, e ele se assentará no meu trono, em meu lugar; assim mesmo o cumprirei hoje.

31 A nd Bath-Sheba boweth -- face to the earth -- and doth obeisance to the king, and saith, `Let my lord, king David, live to the age.'

Então Bate-Seba, inclinando-se com o rosto em terra perante o rei, fez-lhe reverência e disse: Viva para sempre o rei Davi meu senhor!

32 A nd king David saith, `Call for me for Zadok the priest, and for Nathan the prophet, and for Benaiah son of Jehoiada;' and they come in before the king.

Depois disse o rei Davi: Chamai-me a Zadoque, o sacerdote, e a Natã, o profeta, e a Benaías, filho de Jeoiada. E estes entraram ã presença do rei.

33 A nd the king saith to them, `Take with you the servants of your lord, and ye have caused Solomon my son to ride on mine own mule, and caused him to go down unto Gihon,

E o rei lhes disse: Tomai convosco os servos de vosso senhor, fazei montar meu filho Salomão na minha mula, e levai-o a Giom.

34 a nd anointed him there hath Zadok the priest -- and Nathan the prophet -- for king over Israel, and ye have blown with a trumpet, and said, Let king Solomon live;

E Zadoque, o sacerdote, com Natã, o profeta, ali o ungirão rei sobre Israel. E tocareis a trombeta, e direis: Viva o rei Salomão!

35 a nd ye have come up after him, and he hath come in and hath sat on my throne, and he doth reign in my stead, and him I have appointed to be leader over Israel, and over Judah.'

Então subireis após ele, e ele virá e se assentará no meu trono; pois reinará em meu lugar, porquanto o tenho designado para ser príncipe sobre Israel e sobre Judá.

36 A nd Benaiah son of Jehoiada answereth the king, and saith, `Amen! so doth Jehovah, God of my lord the king, say;

Ao que Benaías, filho de Jeoiada, respondeu ao rei, dizendo: Amém; assim o diga também o Senhor Deus do rei meu senhor.

37 a s Jehovah hath been with my lord the king, so is He with Solomon, and doth make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.'

Como o Senhor foi com o rei meu senhor, assim seja ele com Salomão, e faça que o seu trono seja maior do que o trono do rei Davi meu senhor.

38 A nd Zadok the priest goeth down, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause Solomon to ride on the mule of king David, and cause him to go unto Gihon,

Pelo que desceram Zadoque, o sacerdote, e Natã, o profeta, e Benaías, filho de Jeoiada, e os quereteus, e os peleteus, e fizeram montar Salomão na mula que era do rei Davi, e o levaram a Giom.

39 a nd Zadok the priest taketh the horn of oil out of the tent, and anointeth Solomon, and they blow with a trumpet, and all the people say, `Let king Solomon live.'

Então Zadoque, o sacerdote, tomou do tabernáculo o vaso do azeite e ungiu a Salomão. Então tocaram a trombeta, e todo o povo disse: Viva o rei Salomão!

40 A nd all the people come up after him, and the people are piping with pipes, and rejoicing -- great joy, and the earth rendeth with their voice.

E todo o povo subiu após ele, tocando flauta e alegrando-se sobremaneira, de modo que a terra retiniu com o seu clamor.

41 A nd Adonijah heareth, and all those called, who with him, and they have finished to eat, and Joab heareth the noise of the trumpet, and saith, `Wherefore the noise of the city roaring?'

Adonias e todos os convidados que estavam com ele o ouviram, ao acabarem de comer. E ouvindo Joabe o soar das trombetas, disse: Que quer dizer este alvoroço na cidade?

42 H e is yet speaking, and lo, Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest hath come in, and Adonijah saith, `Come in, for a man of valour thou, and thou bearest good tidings.'

Ele ainda estava falando, quando chegou Jônatas, filho de Abiatar, o sacerdote; e disse Adonias: Entra, porque és homem de bem, e trazes boas novas.

43 A nd Jonathan answereth and saith to Adonijah, `Verily our lord king David hath caused Solomon to reign,

Respondeu Jônatas a Adonias: Deveras! O rei Davi, nosso senhor, constituiu rei a Salomão.

44 a nd the king sendeth with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause him to ride on the king's mule,

E o rei enviou com ele Zadoque, o sacerdote, e Natã, o profeta, e Benaías, filho de Jeoiada, os quereteus e os peleteus; e eles o fizeram montar na mula do rei.

45 a nd they anoint him -- Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet -- for king in Gihon, and are come up thence rejoicing, and the city is moved; it the noise that ye have heard.

E Zadoque, o sacerdote, e Natã, o profeta, ungiram-no rei em Giom; e dali subiram cheios de alegria, e a cidade está alvoroçada. Este é o clamor que ouvistes.

46 ` And also Solomon hath sat on the throne of the kingdom,

E Salomão já está assentado no trono do reino.

47 a nd also the servants of the king have come into bless our lord king David, saying, Thy God doth make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and his throne greater than thy throne; and the king boweth himself on the bed,

Além disso os servos do rei vieram abençoar o nosso senhor, o rei Davi, dizendo: Faça teu Deus o nome de Salomão mais célebre do que o teu nome, e faça o seu trono maior do que o teu trono. E o rei se inclinou no leito.

48 a nd also thus hath the king said, Blessed Jehovah, God of Israel, who hath given to-day sitting on my throne, and mine eyes seeing.'

Também assim falou o rei: Bendito o Senhor Deus de Israel, que hoje tem dado quem se assente no meu trono, e que os meus olhos o vissem.

49 A nd they tremble, and rise -- all those called who for Adonijah -- and go, each on his way;

Então, tomados de pavor, levantaram-se todos os convidados que estavam com Adonias, e cada qual se foi seu caminho.

50 a nd Adonijah feareth because of Solomon, and riseth, and goeth, and layeth hold on the horns of the altar.

Adonias, porém, temeu a Salomão e, levantando-se, foi apegar-se

51 A nd it is declared to Solomon, saying, `Lo, Adonijah feareth king Solomon, and lo, he hath laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear to me as to-day -- he doth not put to death his servant by the sword.'

E foi dito a Salomão: Eis que Adonias teme ao rei Salomão; pois que se apegou

52 A nd Solomon saith, `If he becometh a virtuous man -- there doth not fall of his hair to the earth, and if evil is found in him -- then he hath died.'

Ao que disse Salomão: Se ele se houver como homem de bem, nem um só de seus cabelos cairá em terra; se, porém, se houver dolosamente, morrerá.

53 A nd king Solomon sendeth, and they bring him down from off the altar, and he cometh in and boweth himself to king Solomon, and Solomon saith to him, `Go to thy house.'

Então o rei Salomão deu ordem, e tiraram Adonias do altar. E vindo ele, inclinou-se perante o rei Salomão, o qual lhe disse: Vai para tua casa.
