1 A nd king David old, entering into days, and they cover him with garments, and he hath no heat,

Царь Давид состарился и достиг преклонных лет. Его укутывали одеждами, но он все равно не мог согреться.

2 a nd his servants say to him, `Let them seek for my lord the king a young woman, a virgin, and she hath stood before the king, and is to him a companion, and hath lain in thy bosom, and my lord the king hath heat.'

Тогда слуги сказали ему: – Пусть господину нашему царю подыщут молодую девушку, чтобы она прислуживала царю и заботилась о нем. Она будет ложиться рядом с ним, и господину нашему царю будет тепло.

3 A nd they seek a fair young woman in all the border of Israel, and find Abishag the Shunammite, and bring her in to the king,

Они стали искать красивую девушку по всему Израилю, нашли шунамитянку Авишаг, и привели ее к царю.

4 a nd the young woman very very fair, and she is to the king a companion, and serveth him, and the king hath not known her.

Девушка была очень красива; она заботилась о царе и ухаживала за ним, но царь не был с ней близок. Адония претендует на престол

5 A nd Adonijah son of Haggith is lifting himself up, saying, `I do reign;' and he prepareth for himself a chariot and horsemen, and fifty men running before him,

Адония, матерью которого была Аггифа, кичливо говорил: «Я буду царем». Он завел у себя колесницы и коней, и пятьдесят слуг, которые бежали перед ним.

6 a nd his father hath not grieved him his days, saying, `Wherefore thus hast thou done?' and he also of a very good form, and bare him after Absalom.

(Его отец никогда не смущал его вопросом: «Почему ты так поступаешь?» Он родился после Авессалома и был очень красив.)

7 A nd his words are with Joab son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest, and they help after Adonijah;

Адония сговорился с Иоавом, сыном Саруи, и со священником Авиатаром, и они поддержали его.

8 a nd Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty ones whom David hath, have not been with Adonijah.

Но священник Цадок, Ванея, сын Иодая, пророк Нафан, Шимей и Рей, и личная стража Давида не встали на сторону Адонии.

9 A nd Adonijah sacrificeth sheep and oxen and fatlings near the stone of Zoheleth, that by En-Rogel, and calleth all his brethren, sons of the king, and for all the men of Judah, servants of the king;

Адония принес в жертву овец, волов и откормленных телят у камня Зохелет, что рядом с Эн-Рогелом, и пригласил всех своих братьев, сыновей царя, и всех царских приближенных из Иудеи,

10 a nd Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty ones, and Solomon his brother, he hath not called.

но не пригласил ни пророка Нафана, ни Ванею, ни личную стражу, ни своего брата Соломона. Давид передает престол Соломону

11 A nd Nathan speaketh unto Bath-Sheba, mother of Solomon, saying, `Hast thou not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith hath reigned, and our lord David hath not known?

Тогда пророк Нафан спросил у Вирсавии, матери Соломона: – Разве ты не слышала, что Адония, сын Аггифы, стал царем, а наш господин, Давид, о том и не знает?

12 a nd now, come, let me counsel thee, I pray thee, and deliver thy life, and the life of thy son Solomon;

Так вот, позволь мне посоветовать тебе, как спасти свою жизнь и жизнь твоего сына Соломона.

13 g o and enter in unto king David, and thou hast said unto him, Hast thou not, my lord, O king, sworn to thy handmaid, saying, Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne? and wherefore hath Adonijah reigned?

Сейчас же пойди к царю Давиду и скажи ему: «Господин мой, царь, разве ты не клялся мне, твоей служанке, говоря: “Твой сын Соломон непременно будет царем после меня и сядет на моем престоле?” Так почему же царем стал Адония?».

14 L o, thou are yet speaking there with the king, and I come in after thee, and have completed thy words.'

Когда ты еще будешь говорить с царем, я войду вслед за тобой и подтвержу твои слова.

15 A nd Bath-Sheba cometh in unto the king, to the inner chamber, and the king very aged, and Abishag the Shunammite is serving the king:

И Вирсавия пошла к престарелому царю в его комнату, где ему прислуживала шунамитянка Ависага.

16 a nd Bath-Sheba boweth and doth obeisance to the king, and the king saith, `What -- to thee?'

Вирсавия склонилась и пала перед царем ниц. – Чего ты хочешь? – спросил царь.

17 A nd she saith to him, `My lord, thou hast sworn by Jehovah thy God to thy handmaid: Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne;

Она сказала ему: – Мой господин, ты сам клялся мне, твоей служанке, Господом, твоим Богом: «Соломон, твой сын, будет царем после меня и сядет на моем престоле».

18 a nd now, lo, Adonijah hath reigned, and now, my lord, O king, thou hast not known;

Но вот, царем стал Адония, а ты, господин мой, царь, и не знаешь об этом.

19 a nd he sacrificeth ox, and fatling, and sheep in abundance, and calleth for all the sons of the king, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab head of the host -- and for Solomon thy servant he hath not called.

Он принес в жертву множество волов, откормленных телят и овец, пригласил всех царских сыновей, священника Авиатара и Иоава, начальника войска, но не пригласил твоего слугу Соломона.

20 A nd thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel on thee, to declare to them who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king after him;

Господин мой царь, взоры всего Израиля устремлены на тебя, чтобы узнать: кто же сядет на престоле господина моего царя после него?

21 a nd it hath been, when my lord the king lieth with his fathers, that I have been, I and my son Solomon -- sinners.'

Ведь иначе, как только господин мой царь уснет со своими предками, меня и моего сына Соломона сочтут изменниками.

22 A nd lo, she is yet speaking with the king, and Nathan the prophet hath come in;

Когда она еще говорила с царем, вошел пророк Нафан.

23 a nd they declare to the king, saying, `Lo, Nathan the prophet;' and he cometh in before the king, and boweth himself to the king, on his face to the earth.

Царю доложили: – Здесь пророк Нафан. Тогда он предстал перед царем и поклонился ему лицом до земли.

24 A nd Nathan saith, `My lord, O king, thou hast said, Adonijah doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne;

Нафан сказал: – Говорил ли ты, господин мой, царь, что Адония будет царем после тебя и сядет на твоем престоле?

25 f or he hath gone down to-day, and doth sacrifice ox, and fatling, and sheep, in abundance, and calleth for all the sons of the king, and for the heads of the host, and for Abiathar the priest, and lo, they are eating and drinking before him, and they say, Let king Adonijah live!

Сегодня он пошел и принес в жертву множество волов, откормленных телят и овец. Он пригласил всех царских сыновей, военачальников и священника Авиатара. Сейчас они едят и пьют с ним и говорят: «Да здравствует царь Адония!».

26 ` And for me -- me, thy servant, and for Zadok the priest, and for Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, and for Solomon thy servant, he hath not called;

Но меня, твоего слугу, священника Цадока, Ванею, сына Иодая, и твоего слугу Соломона он не пригласил.

27 i f from my lord the king this thing hath been, then thou hast not caused thy servant to know who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.'

Было ли это сделано по воле господина моего царя, который не известил своих слуг о том, кто сядет на престоле моего господина, царя, после него?

28 A nd king David answereth and saith, `Call for me for Bath-Sheba;' and she cometh in before the king, and standeth before the king.

Тогда царь Давид сказал: – Позовите ко мне Вирсавию. И она вошла к царю и предстала перед ним.

29 A nd the king sweareth and saith, `Jehovah liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity;

И царь поклялся: – Верно, как то, что жив Господь, Который избавил меня от всякой беды,

30 s urely as I sware to thee by Jehovah, God of Israel, saying, Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne in my stead; surely so I do this day.'

я непременно исполню сегодня то, о чем я клялся тебе Господом, Богом Израиля: Соломон, твой сын, станет царем после меня и сядет на моем престоле вместо меня.

31 A nd Bath-Sheba boweth -- face to the earth -- and doth obeisance to the king, and saith, `Let my lord, king David, live to the age.'

Вирсавия склонилась, коснувшись лицом земли и, пав ниц перед царем, сказала: – Пусть господин мой царь Давид живет вечно!

32 A nd king David saith, `Call for me for Zadok the priest, and for Nathan the prophet, and for Benaiah son of Jehoiada;' and they come in before the king.

Царь Давид сказал: – Позовите ко мне священника Цадока, пророка Нафана и Ванею, сына Иодая. Когда они вошли к царю,

33 A nd the king saith to them, `Take with you the servants of your lord, and ye have caused Solomon my son to ride on mine own mule, and caused him to go down unto Gihon,

он сказал им: – Возьмите с собой моих слуг, посадите моего сына Соломона на моего мула и доставьте его к источнику Гихон.

34 a nd anointed him there hath Zadok the priest -- and Nathan the prophet -- for king over Israel, and ye have blown with a trumpet, and said, Let king Solomon live;

Там пусть священник Цадок и пророк Нафан помажут его в цари над Израилем. Трубите в рог и восклицайте: «Да здравствует царь Соломон!».

35 a nd ye have come up after him, and he hath come in and hath sat on my throne, and he doth reign in my stead, and him I have appointed to be leader over Israel, and over Judah.'

Потом проводите его назад, и пусть он сядет на мой престол и правит вместо меня. Я поставил его правителем над Израилем и Иудеей.

36 A nd Benaiah son of Jehoiada answereth the king, and saith, `Amen! so doth Jehovah, God of my lord the king, say;

Ванея, сын Иодая, ответил царю: – Аминь! Да скажет так Господь, Бог моего господина, царя.

37 a s Jehovah hath been with my lord the king, so is He with Solomon, and doth make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.'

Как Господь был с моим господином, царем, так пусть он будет с Соломоном, чтобы возвеличить его престол больше престола моего господина, царя Давида!

38 A nd Zadok the priest goeth down, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause Solomon to ride on the mule of king David, and cause him to go unto Gihon,

И священник Цадок, пророк Нафан, Ванея, сын Иодая, керетиты и пелетиты пошли, усадили Соломона на мула царя Давида и сопроводили его в Гихон.

39 a nd Zadok the priest taketh the horn of oil out of the tent, and anointeth Solomon, and they blow with a trumpet, and all the people say, `Let king Solomon live.'

Священник Цадок взял из шатра рог с маслом и помазал Соломона. После этого они затрубили в рога, и весь народ закричал: – Да здравствует царь Соломон!

40 A nd all the people come up after him, and the people are piping with pipes, and rejoicing -- great joy, and the earth rendeth with their voice.

Весь народ пошел вслед за ним, играя на свирелях и громко радуясь, так, что земля сотрясалась от шума. Соломон щадит Адонию

41 A nd Adonijah heareth, and all those called, who with him, and they have finished to eat, and Joab heareth the noise of the trumpet, and saith, `Wherefore the noise of the city roaring?'

Адония и все гости, которые были с ним, услышали это в конце пира. Услышав звук рога, Иоав спросил: – Что это за шум в городе?

42 H e is yet speaking, and lo, Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest hath come in, and Adonijah saith, `Come in, for a man of valour thou, and thou bearest good tidings.'

Он еще не договорил, как пришел Ионафан, сын священника Авиатара. Адония сказал: – Подойди. Ты достойный человек и, конечно, несешь добрые вести.

43 A nd Jonathan answereth and saith to Adonijah, `Verily our lord king David hath caused Solomon to reign,

– Нет, – ответил Ионафан. – Наш господин, царь Давид, сделал царем Соломона.

44 a nd the king sendeth with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause him to ride on the king's mule,

Царь отправил его со священником Цадоком, пророком Нафаном, Ванеей, сыном Иодая, керетитами и пелетитами, и они усадили его на царского мула,

45 a nd they anoint him -- Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet -- for king in Gihon, and are come up thence rejoicing, and the city is moved; it the noise that ye have heard.

а священник Цадок и пророк Нафан помазали его в цари в Гихоне. Они ушли оттуда в радости, и город пришел в движение. Этот-то шум ты и слышишь.

46 ` And also Solomon hath sat on the throne of the kingdom,

Больше того, Соломон сел на царский престол,

47 a nd also the servants of the king have come into bless our lord king David, saying, Thy God doth make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and his throne greater than thy throne; and the king boweth himself on the bed,

а царские приближенные пришли поздравлять нашего господина царя Давида, говоря: «Пусть твой Бог прославит имя Соломона еще больше, чем твое, и возвеличит его престол больше твоего престола!» Царь поклонился на постели

48 a nd also thus hath the king said, Blessed Jehovah, God of Israel, who hath given to-day sitting on my throne, and mine eyes seeing.'

и сказал так: «Слава Господу, Богу Израиля, Который дал мне сегодня увидеть на престоле моего преемника!»

49 A nd they tremble, and rise -- all those called who for Adonijah -- and go, each on his way;

Тут все гости Адонии, задрожав от страха, поднялись и разбежались.

50 a nd Adonijah feareth because of Solomon, and riseth, and goeth, and layeth hold on the horns of the altar.

А Адония, боясь Соломона, пошел и схватился за рога жертвенника.

51 A nd it is declared to Solomon, saying, `Lo, Adonijah feareth king Solomon, and lo, he hath laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear to me as to-day -- he doth not put to death his servant by the sword.'

Соломону доложили: – Адония боится царя Соломона и не отпускает рогов жертвенника. Он говорит: «Пусть царь Соломон даст мне сегодня клятву, что он не предаст своего слугу мечу».

52 A nd Solomon saith, `If he becometh a virtuous man -- there doth not fall of his hair to the earth, and if evil is found in him -- then he hath died.'

Соломон ответил: – Если он покажет себя достойным человеком, то ни один волос с его головы не упадет на землю; но если в нем обнаружится зло, он умрет.

53 A nd king Solomon sendeth, and they bring him down from off the altar, and he cometh in and boweth himself to king Solomon, and Solomon saith to him, `Go to thy house.'

Царь Соломон послал людей, и они привели его от жертвенника. Адония вошел и поклонился царю Соломону, и Соломон сказал: – Ступай домой.
