1 T he word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,

2 S tand in the gate of the house of Jehovah, and thou hast proclaimed there this word, and hast said, Hear a word of Jehovah, all ye of Judah, who are coming in at these gates, to bow before Jehovah:

– Встань у ворот дома Господа и возвещай там вот что: – Слушай слово Господа, весь народ Иудеи, входящий через эти ворота поклоняться Господу.

3 T hus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Amend your ways, and your doings, And I cause you to dwell in this place.

Так говорит Господь Сил, Бог Израиля: «Исправьте свои пути и дела, и Я позволю вам жить на этом месте.

4 D o not trust for yourselves Unto the words of falsehood, saying, The temple of Jehovah, the temple of Jehovah, The temple of Jehovah they!

Не полагайтесь на лживые слова: “Здесь храм Господень, храм Господень, храм Господень!“

5 F or, if ye do thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, If ye do judgment thoroughly Between a man and his neighbour,

Если вы действительно исправите свои пути и дела и будете справедливо поступать друг с другом,

6 S ojourner, fatherless, and widow, ye oppress not, And innocent blood do not shed in this place, And after other gods do not walk, for evil to yourselves,

если не будете притеснять чужеземцев, сирот и вдов и проливать невинную кровь на этом месте, если себе же во вред не будете следовать за чужими богами,

7 T hen I have caused you to dwell in this place, In the land that I gave to your fathers, From age even unto age.

то Я позволю вам жить на этом месте, на земле, которую Я дал вашим отцам навеки.

8 L o, ye are trusting for yourselves On the words of falsehood, so as not to profit.

Но вот, вы полагаетесь на лживые слова, в которых нет прока.

9 S tealing, murdering, and committing adultery, And swearing to falsehood, and giving perfume to Baal, And going after other gods whom ye knew not.

Вы крадете и убиваете, нарушаете супружескую верность и лжесвидетельствуете, возжигаете благовония Баалу и следуете за чужими богами, которых прежде не знали,

10 A nd ye have come in and stood before Me, In this house on which My name is called, And have said, `We have been delivered,' In order to do all these abominations.

а потом приходите, встаете предо Мной в этом доме, который называется Моим Именем, и говорите: “Мы спасены“ – лишь для того, чтобы вновь совершать все эти мерзости?

11 A den of burglars hath this house, On which My name is called, been in your eyes? Even I, lo, I have seen, an affirmation of Jehovah.

Разве этот дом, который называется Моим Именем, не стал у вас разбойничьим логовом? Вот, Я все это вижу, – возвещает Господь. –

12 B ut go ye, I pray you, Unto My place that in Shiloh, Where I caused My name to dwell at first, And see that which I have done to it, For the wickedness of My people Israel.

Пойдите на Мое место в Шило, где Я прежде устроил жилище для Моего Имени, и посмотрите, что Я с ним сделал за злодеяния Моего народа Ефрема.

13 A nd now, because of your doing all these works, An affirmation of Jehovah, And I speak unto you, rising early and speaking, And ye have not hearkened, And I call you, and ye have not answered,

Пока вы предавались всему этому, – возвещает Господь, – Я снова и снова говорил с вами, а вы не слушали; Я звал вас, а вы не отвечали.

14 I also to the house on which My name is called, In which ye are trusting, And to the place that I gave to you, and to your fathers, Have done, as I have done to Shiloh.

То же, что Я сделал с Шило, Я сделаю и с домом, который называется Моим Именем, храмом, на который вы полагаетесь, местом, которое Я дал вам и вашим отцам.

15 A nd I have cast you from before My face, As I have cast out all your brethren, The whole seed of Ephraim.

Я отвергну вас от Себя, как отверг ваших братьев, народ Ефрема». Непокорство народа

16 A nd thou dost not pray for this people, Nor lift up for them crying and prayer, Nor intercede with Me, for I hear thee not.

– А ты не молись за этот народ, не возноси за них ни прошения, ни молитвы; не умоляй Меня, Я не стану тебя слушать.

17 A rt thou not seeing what they are doing In cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem?

Разве ты не видишь, что они делают в городах Иудеи и на улицах Иерусалима?

18 T he sons are gathering wood, And the fathers are causing the fire to burn, And the women are kneading dough, To make cakes to the queen of the heavens, And to pour out libations to other gods, So as to provoke Me to anger.

Дети собирают дрова, отцы разводят огонь, а женщины месят тесто и пекут лепешки для богини неба. Они приносят жертвенные возлияния чужим богам, чтобы разгневать Меня.

19 M e are they provoking to anger? an affirmation of Jehovah, Is it not themselves, For the shame of their own faces?

Но Мне ли они досаждают? – возвещает Господь. – Не себе ли, к своему стыду?

20 T herefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah, Lo, Mine anger and My fury is poured out on this place, On man, and beast, and on tree of the field, And on fruit of the ground, And it hath burned, and it is not quenched.

Поэтому так говорит Владыка Господь: – Мой яростный гнев обрушится на эту землю, на людей и скот, на деревья в поле и на плоды земли, он будет пылать, не угасая.

21 T hus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Your burnt-offerings add to your sacrifices, And eat ye flesh.

Так говорит Господь Сил, Бог Израиля: – Прилагайте ваши всесожжения к прочим жертвам и ешьте мясо.

22 F or I did not speak with your fathers, Nor did I command them in the day of My bringing them out of the land of Egypt, Concerning the matters of burnt-offering and sacrifice,

Ведь когда Я вывел ваших предков из Египта, Я не просто говорил и давал им повеления о всесожжениях и жертвах,

23 B ut this thing I commanded them, saying: Hearken to My voice, And I have been to you for God, And ye -- ye are to Me for a people, And have walked in all the way that I command you, So that it is well for you.

но и повелел им: «Слушайтесь Меня, и Я буду вашим Богом, а вы – Моим народом. Исполняйте то, что я вам велю, и тогда вы будете благополучны».

24 A nd they have not hearkened, nor inclined their ear, And they walk in the counsels, In the stubbornness, of their evil heart, And are for backward, and not for forward.

Но они не послушали и не вняли Моим словам, и по своему упрямству жили по собственным замыслам, шли назад, а не вперед.

25 E ven from the day when your fathers Went out of the land of Egypt till this day, I send to you all my servants the prophets, Daily rising early and sending,

С того дня, как ваши предки покинули Египет, и до этого дня, день за днем, снова и снова Я посылал к вам Моих слуг пророков.

26 A nd they have not hearkened unto Me, Nor inclined their ear, and harden their neck, They have done evil above their fathers.

Но они не слушали и не внимали им. Они были упрямыми и делали еще больше зла, чем их предки.

27 A nd thou hast spoken unto them all these words, And they do not hearken to thee, And thou hast called unto them, And they do not answer thee.

Когда ты будешь говорить им все это, они не станут тебя слушать и, когда будешь звать их, не ответят.

28 A nd thou hast said unto them: This the nation that hath not hearkened, To the voice of Jehovah its God, Nor have they accepted instruction, Perished hath stedfastness, Yea, it hath been cut off from their mouth.

Поэтому скажи им: «Вот народ, который не слушается Господа, своего Бога, и не принимает наставлений. Истина погибла, она исчезла с их уст.

29 C ut off thy crown, and cast away, And lift up on high places lamentation, For Jehovah hath rejected, And He leaveth the generation of His wrath.

Обрей свои волосы и выбрось; подними на голых вершинах плач, потому что Господь отверг и покинул поколение, которое Его разгневало». Долина Бойни

30 F or the sons of Judah Have done the evil thing in Mine eyes, An affirmation of Jehovah, They have set their abominations in the house On which My name is called -- to defile it,

– Народ Иудеи делал зло в Моих глазах, – возвещает Господь. – Они поставили свои мерзости в доме, который называется Моим Именем, осквернив его.

31 A nd have built the high places of Tophet, That in the valley of the son of Hinnom, To burn their sons and their daughters with fire, Which I did not command, Nor did it come up on My heart.

Они построили святилища на возвышенностях горы Тофет в долине Бен-Гинном, чтобы сжигать своих сыновей и дочерей, чего Я не повелевал, о чем даже не думал.

32 T herefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Jehovah, And it is not said any more, `The Tophet,' And `Valley of the son of Hinnom,' But `Valley of the slaughter,' And they have buried in Tophet -- without place.

За это приближаются дни, – возвещает Господь, – когда это место будет называться не Тофет и не долина Бен-Гинном, а долина Бойни, так как в Тофете будут хоронить мертвых до тех пор, пока там не останется места.

33 A nd the carcase of this people hath been for food To a fowl of the heavens, and to a beast of the earth, And there is none troubling.

Трупы этого народа станут пищей птицам в небе и зверям на земле, и некому будет их отпугнуть.

34 A nd I have caused to cease from cities of Judah, And from streets of Jerusalem, The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, Voice of bridegroom, and voice of bride, For the land doth become a desolation!

Я положу конец крикам радости и веселья, голосам невесты и жениха в городах Иудеи и на улицах Иерусалима, потому что страна будет опустошена.
