1 W hen therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees heard that Jesus more disciples doth make and baptize than John,

2 ( though indeed Jesus himself was not baptizing, but his disciples,)

хотя на самом деле крестил не Иисус, а Его ученики.

3 h e left Judea and went away again to Galilee,

Когда Иисус узнал, что о Нем говорят, Он покинул Иудею и направился обратно в Галилею.

4 a nd it was behoving him to go through Samaria.

Путь Его лежал через Самарию,

5 H e cometh, therefore, to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near to the place that Jacob gave to Joseph his son;

и Он пришел в самарийский город Сихарь, расположенный недалеко от участка земли, который Иаков некогда дал своему сыну Иосифу.

6 a nd there was there a well of Jacob. Jesus therefore having been weary from the journeying, was sitting thus on the well; it was as it were the sixth hour;

Там был колодец Иакова, и Иисус, уставший после дороги, сел у колодца отдохнуть. Это было около шестого часа.

7 t here cometh a woman out of Samaria to draw water. Jesus saith to her, `Give me to drink;'

К колодцу пришла за водой одна самарийская женщина. – Дай Мне, пожалуйста, напиться воды, – попросил ее Иисус.

8 f or his disciples were gone away to the city, that they may buy victuals;

Ученики Его в это время пошли в город купить еды.

9 t he Samaritan woman therefore saith to him, `How dost thou, being a Jew, ask drink from me, being a Samaritan woman?' for Jews have no dealing with Samaritans.

Самарянка удивилась: – Ты иудей, а я самарянка, как это Ты можешь просить у меня напиться? (Дело в том, что иудеи не пользуются общей посудой с самарянами.)

10 J esus answered and said to her, `If thou hadst known the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldest have asked him, and he would have given thee living water.'

Иисус ответил ей: – Если бы ты знала о даре Божьем и о Том, Кто просит у тебя напиться, ты бы сама попросила Его, и Он дал бы тебе живой воды.

11 T he woman saith to him, `Sir, thou hast not even a vessel to draw with, and the well is deep; whence, then, hast thou the living water?

Женщина сказала: – Господин, Тебе и зачерпнуть-то нечем, а колодец глубок. Откуда же у Тебя живая вода?

12 A rt thou greater than our father Jacob, who did give us the well, and himself out of it did drink, and his sons, and his cattle?'

Неужели Ты больше нашего предка Иакова, который оставил нам этот колодец и сам пил из него, и его сыновья пили, и стада его пили?

13 J esus answered and said to her, `Every one who is drinking of this water shall thirst again;

Иисус ответил: – Кто пьет эту воду, тот опять захочет пить.

14 b ut whoever may drink of the water that I will give him, may not thirst -- to the age; and the water that I will give him shall become in him a well of water, springing up to life age-during.'

Тот же, кто пьет воду, которую Я дам ему, никогда больше не будет мучим жаждой. Вода, которую Я ему дам, станет в нем источником, текущим в вечную жизнь.

15 T he woman saith unto him, `Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.'

Женщина сказала Ему: – Господин, так дай же мне такой воды, чтобы я больше не хотела пить, и мне не нужно было приходить сюда за водой.

16 J esus saith to her, `Go, call thy husband, and come hither;'

Он сказал ей: – Пойди, позови своего мужа и возвращайся сюда.

17 t he woman answered and said, `I have not a husband.' Jesus saith to her, `Well didst thou say -- A husband I have not;

– У меня нет мужа, – ответила женщина. Иисус сказал ей: – Ты права, когда говоришь, что у тебя нет мужа.

18 f or five husbands thou hast had, and, now, he whom thou hast is not thy husband; this hast thou said truly.'

Ведь у тебя было пять мужей, и тот, с кем ты сейчас живешь, не муж тебе; это ты правду сказала.

19 T he woman saith to him, `Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet;

– Господин, – сказала женщина, – я вижу, что Ты пророк.

20 o ur fathers in this mountain did worship, and ye -- ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where it behoveth to worship.'

Так объясни же мне, почему наши отцы поклонялись на этой горе, а вы, иудеи, говорите, что Богу следует поклоняться в Иерусалиме?

21 J esus saith to her, `Woman, believe me, that there doth come an hour, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall ye worship the Father;

Иисус ответил: – Поверь Мне, женщина, настанет время, когда вы будете поклоняться Отцу не на этой горе и не в Иерусалиме.

22 y e worship what ye have not known; we worship what we have known, because the salvation is of the Jews;

Вы, самаряне, и сами толком не знаете, чему вы поклоняетесь, мы же знаем, чему поклоняемся, ведь спасение – от иудеев.

23 b ut, there cometh an hour, and it now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father also doth seek such to worship him;

Но наступит время, и уже наступило, когда истинные поклонники будут поклоняться Отцу в духе и истине, потому что именно таких поклонников ищет Себе Отец.

24 G od a Spirit, and those worshipping Him, in spirit and truth it doth behove to worship.'

Бог есть Дух, и поклоняющиеся Ему должны поклоняться в духе и истине.

25 T he woman saith to him, `I have known that Messiah doth come, who is called Christ, when that one may come, he will tell us all things;'

Женщина сказала: – Я знаю, что должен прийти Мессия, Которого называют Христом; вот когда Он придет, Он нам все и объяснит.

26 J esus saith to her, `I am, who am speaking to thee.'

Иисус сказал ей: – Это Я, Тот, Кто говорит с тобой. Иисус говорит о духовной жатве

27 A nd upon this came his disciples, and were wondering that with a woman he was speaking, no one, however, said, `What seekest thou?' or `Why speakest thou with her?'

В это время возвратились Его ученики и удивились, что Иисус разговаривает с женщиной. Но никто, однако, не спросил, что Он хотел и почему Он с ней говорил.

28 T he woman then left her water-jug, and went away to the city, and saith to the men,

Женщина оставила свой кувшин для воды, вернулась в город и сказала людям:

29 ` Come, see a man, who told me all things -- as many as I did; is this the Christ?'

– Идите и посмотрите на Человека, Который рассказал мне все, что я сделала. Не Христос ли Он?

30 T hey went forth therefore out of the city, and were coming unto him.

Народ из города пошел к Иисусу.

31 A nd in the meanwhile his disciples were asking him, saying, `Rabbi, eat;'

В это время Его ученики настаивали: – Рабби, поешь что-нибудь.

32 a nd he said to them, `I have food to eat that ye have not known.'

Но Он сказал им: – У Меня есть пища, о которой вы не знаете.

33 T he disciples then said one to another, `Did any one bring him anything to eat?'

Тогда ученики стали переговариваться: – Может, кто-то принес Ему поесть?

34 J esus saith to them, `My food is, that I may do the will of Him who sent me, and may finish His work;

– Пища Моя состоит в том, – сказал Иисус, – чтобы исполнить волю Пославшего Меня и совершить Его дело.

35 d o not say that it is yet four months, and the harvest cometh; lo, I say to you, Lift up your eyes, and see the fields, that they are white unto harvest already.

Разве вы не говорите: «Еще четыре месяца, и будет жатва»? А Я говорю вам: поднимите глаза и посмотрите на поля, как они уже созрели для жатвы!

36 ` And he who is reaping doth receive a reward, and doth gather fruit to life age-during, that both he who is sowing and he who is reaping may rejoice together;

Жнец получает свою награду. Он собирает урожай для жизни вечной, чтобы радовались вместе и сеятель, и жнец.

37 f or in this the saying is the true one, that one is the sower and another the reaper.

В этом случае верно изречение: один сеет, а другой жнет.

38 I sent you to reap that on which ye have not laboured; others laboured, and ye into their labour have entered.

Я послал вас жать то, над чем вы не трудились. Другие много поработали, вы же пожинаете плоды их трудов. Многие самаряне уверовали в Иисуса

39 A nd from that city many believed in him, of the Samaritans, because of the word of the woman testifying, -- `He told me all things -- as many as I did.'

Многие самаряне, жители этого города, уверовали в Иисуса, потому что женщина сказала: – Он рассказал мне все, что я сделала.

40 W hen, then, the Samaritans came unto him, they were asking him to remain with them, and he remained there two days;

Самаряне пришли к Нему и стали упрашивать Его остаться с ними, и Иисус провел там два дня.

41 a nd many more did believe because of his word,

И еще больше людей уверовали в Него из-за Его слов.

42 a nd said to the woman -- `No more because of thy speaking do we believe; for we ourselves have heard and known that this is truly the Saviour of the world -- the Christ.'

Они говорили женщине: – Мы верим уже не только по твоим словам. Теперь мы сами слышали и знаем, что Этот Человек действительно Спаситель мира. Проповедь Иисуса в Галилее

43 A nd after the two days he went forth thence, and went away to Galilee,

Через два дня Иисус отправился оттуда в Галилею.

44 f or Jesus himself testified that a prophet in his own country shall not have honour;

Он и Сам говорил, что пророк не имеет чести у себя на родине.

45 w hen then, he came to Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all things that he did in Jerusalem in the feast -- for they also went to the feast.

Однако когда Он пришел в Галилею, галилеяне Его радушно приняли, но только потому, что были в Иерусалиме на празднике Пасхи и видели все, что Иисус там совершил. Иисус исцеляет сына придворного

46 J esus came, therefore, again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine, and there was a certain courtier, whose son was ailing in Capernaum,

Иисус еще раз посетил Кану Галилейскую, где Он превратил воду в вино. В Капернауме был один придворный, у которого был болен сын.

47 h e, having heard that Jesus is come out of Judea to Galilee, went away unto him, and was asking him that he may come down and may heal his son, for he was about to die.

Когда этот человек услышал о том, что Иисус пришел из Иудеи в Галилею, он пришел к Нему и умолял Его исцелить сына, который был при смерти.

48 J esus then said unto him, `If signs and wonders ye may not see, ye will not believe.'

Иисус сказал ему: – Пока вы не увидите чудес и знамений, никогда не поверите.

49 T he courtier saith unto him, `Sir, come down before my child die;'

Но придворный лишь ответил: – Господи, пойдем, пока сын мой еще не умер.

50 J esus saith to him, `Be going on; thy son doth live.' And the man believed the word that Jesus said to him, and was going on,

Иисус ответил: – Иди, твой сын будет жить. Человек поверил слову Иисуса и пошел.

51 a nd he now going down, his servants met him, and told, saying -- `Thy child doth live;'

Он был еще в пути, когда слуги встретили его и сообщили, что мальчик жив.

52 h e inquired then of them the hour in which he became better, and they said to him -- `Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him;'

Он спросил, в котором часу ему стало легче, и они сказали: – Вчера в седьмом часу жар у него прошел.

53 t hen the father knew that in that hour in which Jesus said to him -- `Thy son doth live,' and he himself believed, and his whole house;

Отец понял, что это произошло именно тогда, когда Иисус сказал ему: «Твой сын будет жить». Придворный и все его домашние поверили.

54 t his again a second sign did Jesus, having come out of Judea to Galilee.

Это было второе знамение, сотворенное Иисусом по приходе из Иудеи в Галилею.
