1 A nd Jehovah appeareth unto him among the oaks of Mamre, and he is sitting at the opening of the tent, about the heat of the day;

Господь явился Аврааму у великих деревьев Мамре, когда он сидел у входа в свой шатер во время дневного зноя.

2 a nd he lifteth up his eyes and looketh, and lo, three men standing by him, and he seeth, and runneth to meet them from the opening of the tent, and boweth himself towards the earth,

Авраам поднял взгляд и увидел, что неподалеку стоят три человека. Увидев их, он побежал от входа в шатер им навстречу и поклонился до земли.

3 A nd he saith, `My Lord, if, I pray thee, I have found grace in thine eyes, do not, I pray thee, pass on from thy servant;

Он сказал: – Если я нашел милость в Твоих глазах, Владыка, не пройди мимо Твоего слуги.

4 l et, I pray thee, a little water be accepted, and wash your feet, and recline under the tree;

Пусть принесут немного воды, чтобы вам вымыть ноги и отдохнуть под этим деревом,

5 a nd I bring a piece of bread, and support ye your heart; afterwards pass on, for therefore have ye passed over unto your servant;' and they say, `So mayest thou do as thou has spoken.'

а я принесу вам что-нибудь поесть. Вы подкрепитесь и продолжите свой путь – раз уж вы пришли к вашему слуге. – Очень хорошо, – ответили они. – Делай, как говоришь.

6 A nd Abraham hasteth towards the tent, unto Sarah, and saith, `Hasten three measures of flour-meal, knead, and make cakes;'

Авраам поспешил в шатер к Сарре и сказал: – Скорее, достань три саты лучшей муки, замеси тесто и испеки хлеба.

7 a nd Abraham ran unto the herd, and taketh a son of the herd, tender and good, and giveth unto the young man, and he hasteth to prepare it;

Затем он побежал к стаду, выбрал лучшего, нежного теленка и отдал слуге, который быстро приготовил его.

8 a nd he taketh butter and milk, and the son of the herd which he hath prepared, and setteth before them; and he is standing by them under the tree, and they do eat.

Потом он принес творога, молока и приготовленного теленка и поставил перед ними. Пока они ели, он стоял рядом с ними под деревом.

9 A nd they say unto him, `Where Sarah thy wife?' and he saith, `Lo -- in the tent;'

– Где твоя жена Сарра? – спросили они. – Там, в шатре, – ответил он.

10 a nd he saith, `returning I return unto thee, about the time of life, and lo, to Sarah thy wife a son.'

Тогда Господь сказал: – Я непременно вернусь к тебе в следующем году, примерно в это время, и у Сарры, твоей жены, будет сын. Сарра слушала, стоя у Него за спиной, у входа в шатер.

11 A nd Sarah is hearkening at the opening of the tent, which is behind him;

Авраам и Сарра были уже стары и в преклонных годах, и то, что обычно бывает у женщин, у Сарры прекратилось.

12 a nd Abraham and Sarah aged, entering into days -- the way of women hath ceased to be to Sarah;

Поэтому Сарра рассмеялась про себя, подумав: «Я уже состарилась, и господин мой стар; мне ли иметь еще такую радость? »

13 a nd Sarah laugheth in her heart, saying, `After I have waxed old I have had pleasure! -- my lord also old!'

Тогда Господь сказал Аврааму: – Почему Сарра смеется и говорит: «Неужели у меня в самом деле будет ребенок, ведь я стара?»

14 A nd Jehovah saith unto Abraham, `Why this? Sarah hath laughed, saying, Is it true really -- I bear -- and I am aged? Is any thing too wonderful for Jehovah? at the appointed time I return unto thee, about the time of life, and Sarah hath a son.'

Есть ли что-нибудь слишком трудное для Господа? Я вернусь к тебе через год в назначенное время, и у Сарры будет сын.

15 A nd Sarah denieth, saying, `I did not laugh;' for she hath been afraid; and He saith, `Nay, but thou didst laugh.'

Сарра испугалась и солгала, сказав: – Я не смеялась. Но Он сказал: – Нет, ты смеялась. Просьба Авраама о сохранении города Содома

16 A nd the men rise from thence, and look on the face of Sodom, and Abraham is going with them to send them away;

Мужи поднялись и пошли в сторону Содома. Авраам же пошел с ними, чтобы проводить их.

17 a nd Jehovah said, `Am I concealing from Abraham that which I am doing,

Господь сказал: – Скрою ли Я от Авраама то, что собираюсь сделать?

18 a nd Abraham certainly becometh a nation great and mighty, and blessed in him have been all nations of the earth?

От Авраама непременно произойдет великий и сильный народ, и все народы на земле будут благословлены через него.

19 f or I have known him, that he commandeth his children, and his house after him (and they have kept the way of Jehovah), to do righteousness and judgment, that Jehovah may bring on Abraham that which He hath spoken concerning him.'

Ведь Я избрал его, чтобы он заповедал своим детям и всем своим потомкам хранить путь Господа, поступая правильно и справедливо, чтобы Господь исполнил то, что обещал Аврааму.

20 A nd Jehovah saith, `The cry of Sodom and Gomorrah -- because great; and their sin -- because exceeding grievous:

Господь сказал: – Вопль против Содома и Гоморры так велик, их грех так тяжек,

21 I go down now, and see whether according to its cry which is coming unto Me they have done completely -- and if not -- I know;'

что Я сойду и посмотрю, верен ли вопль, достигший Меня, так ли скверно они поступают. Если нет, Я узнаю.

22 a nd the men turn from thence, and go towards Sodom; and Abraham is yet standing before Jehovah.

Мужи повернулись и пошли к Содому, но Господь остался стоять перед Авраамом.

23 A nd Abraham draweth nigh and saith, `Dost Thou also consume righteous with wicked?

Авраам приблизился к Нему и сказал: – Неужели Ты уничтожишь праведного вместе с грешным?

24 p eradventure there are fifty righteous in the midst of the city; dost Thou also consume, and not bear with the place for the sake of the fifty -- the righteous who in its midst?

Что, если в городе есть пятьдесят праведников? Неужели Ты уничтожишь и не пощадишь этого места ради пятидесяти праведников?

25 F ar be it from Thee to do according to this thing, to put to death the righteous with the wicked; that it hath been -- as the righteous so the wicked -- far be it from Thee; doth the Judge of all the earth not do justice?'

Не можешь Ты сделать такое – погубить праведного вместе с нечестивым, обойтись с праведным и нечестивым одинаково. Не можешь Ты сделать так! Разве Судья всей земли может творить неправду?

26 A nd Jehovah saith, `If I find in Sodom fifty righteous in the midst of the city, then have I borne with all the place for their sake.'

Господь сказал: – Если Я найду в Содоме пятьдесят праведников, то пощажу ради них все это место.

27 A nd Abraham answereth and saith, `Lo, I pray thee, I have willed to speak unto the Lord, and I -- dust and ashes;

Тогда Авраам сказал вновь: – Вот, я осмелился говорить с Владыкой, хотя я лишь прах и пепел;

28 p eradventure there are lacking five of the fifty righteous -- dost Thou destroy for five the whole of the city?' and He saith, `I destroy not, if I find there forty and five.'

что, если число праведных на пять меньше пятидесяти? Уничтожишь ли Ты весь город из-за пяти человек? – Если Я найду там сорок пять, – ответил Он, – то не уничтожу его.

29 A nd he addeth again to speak unto Him and saith, `Peradventure there are found there forty?' and He saith, `I do not, because of the forty.'

Авраам обратился к Нему еще раз: – Что, если там найдутся лишь сорок? Он ответил: – Ради сорока Я не сделаю этого.

30 A nd he saith, `Let it not be, I Pray thee, displeasing to the Lord, and I speak: peradventure there are found there thirty?' and He saith, `I do not, if I find there thirty.'

Тогда тот сказал: – Да не разгневается Владыка, но позволит мне сказать. Что, если найдутся там только тридцать? Он ответил: – Я не сделаю этого, если найду там тридцать.

31 A nd he saith, `Lo, I pray thee, I have willed to speak unto the Lord: peradventure there are found there twenty?' and He saith, `I do not destroy, because of the twenty.'

Авраам сказал: – Вот, я был так смел, что решился говорить Владыке. Что, если найдутся там лишь двадцать? Он сказал: – Ради двадцати Я не уничтожу его.

32 A nd he saith, `Let it not be, I pray Thee, displeasing to the Lord, and I speak only this time: peradventure there are found there ten?' and He saith, `I do not destroy, because of the ten.'

Тогда Авраам сказал: – Да не разгневается Владыка, но позволит мне сказать еще лишь один раз. Что, если найдутся там лишь десять? Он ответил: – Ради десяти Я не уничтожу его.

33 A nd Jehovah goeth on, when He hath finished speaking unto Abraham, and Abraham hath turned back to his place.

Когда Господь закончил говорить с Авраамом, Он ушел, а Авраам вернулся домой.
