1 A nd two of the messengers come towards Sodom at even, and Lot is sitting at the gate of Sodom, and Lot seeth, and riseth to meet them, and boweth himself -- face to the earth,

Два ангела пришли в Содом к вечеру, и Лот сидел у ворот города. Увидев их, он встал им навстречу и поклонился до земли.

2 a nd he saith, `Lo, I pray you, my lords, turn aside, I pray you, unto the house of your servant, and lodge, and wash your feet -- then ye have risen early and gone on your way;' and they say, `Nay, but in the broad place we do lodge.'

– Господа мои, – сказал он, – пожалуйста, зайдите в дом вашего слуги. Вы сможете помыть ноги и переночевать, а ранним утром продолжите свой путь. – Нет, – ответили они, – мы переночуем на площади.

3 A nd he presseth on them greatly, and they turn aside unto him, and come in unto his house; and he maketh for them a banquet, and hath baked unleavened things; and they do eat.

Но он так настаивал, что они последовали за ним и вошли в дом. Он приготовил для них еду, испек пресный хлеб, и они поели.

4 B efore they lie down, the men of the city -- men of Sodom -- have come round about against the house, from young even unto aged, all the people from the extremity;

Но, прежде чем они легли, все мужчины Содома, молодые и старые, окружили дом.

5 a nd they call unto Lot and say to him, `Where the men who have come in unto thee to-night? bring them out unto us, and we know them.'

Они кричали Лоту: – Где люди, которые пришли к тебе вечером? Выведи их к нам, мы хотим развлечься с ними.

6 A nd Lot goeth out unto them, to the opening, and the door hath shut behind him,

Лот вышел к ним и запер за собой дверь.

7 a nd saith, `Do not, I pray you, my brethren, do evil;

Он сказал: – Нет, друзья мои, не делайте такого зла.

8 l o, I pray you, I have two daughters, who have not known any one; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do to them as good in your eyes; only to these men do not anything, for therefore have they come in within the shadow of my roof.'

Послушайте, у меня есть две дочери, которые никогда еще не были с мужчиной. Давайте я выведу их к вам, и делайте с ними, что хотите. Но не делайте ничего этим людям, которые пришли под защиту моего крова.

9 A nd they say, `Come nigh hither;' they say also, `This one hath come in to sojourn, and he certainly judgeth! now, we do evil to thee more than them;' and they press against the man, against Lot greatly, and come nigh to break the door.

Они ответили: – Прочь с дороги! И сказали: – Этот человек пришел сюда как чужеземец, а теперь хочет быть нам судьей! Мы поступим с тобой еще хуже, чем с ними. Они стали оттеснять Лота и подошли, чтобы выломать дверь.

10 A nd the men put forth their hand, and bring in Lot unto them, into the house, and have shut the door;

Но мужи, которые оставались внутри, протянули руки, втащили Лота в дом и заперли дверь.

11 a nd the men who at the opening of the house they have smitten with blindness, from small even unto great, and they weary themselves to find the opening.

А тех, кто были у двери дома, и молодых и старых, они поразили слепотой, так что те не могли найти дверь.

12 A nd the men say unto Lot, `Whom hast thou here still? son-in-law, thy sons also, and thy daughters, and all whom thou hast in the city, bring out from this place;

И гости сказали Лоту: – Кто еще у тебя здесь есть – зятья, сыновья, дочери, кто-нибудь еще в городе? Выведи их отсюда,

13 f or we are destroying this place, for their cry hath been great the face of Jehovah, and Jehovah doth send us to destroy it.'

потому что мы собираемся уничтожить это место. Вопль к Господу против этого народа так велик, что Он послал нас уничтожить его.

14 A nd Lot goeth out, and speaketh unto his sons-in-law, those taking his daughters, and saith, `Rise, go out from this place, for Jehovah is destroying the city;' and he is as mocking in the eyes of his sons-in-law.

Лот вышел и сказал своим будущим зятьям, женихам его дочерей: – Скорее, уходите отсюда! Господь собирается уничтожить город! Но те подумали, что он шутит.

15 A nd when the dawn hath ascended, then the messengers press upon Lot, saying, `Rise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters who are found present, lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.'

Когда взошла заря, ангелы стали торопить Лота, говоря: – Торопись! Уводи отсюда свою жену и двух дочерей, а не то ты погибнешь, когда наказание падет на город.

16 A nd he lingereth, and the men lay hold on his hand, and on the hand of his wife, and on the hand of his two daughters, through the mercy of Jehovah unto him, and they bring him out, and cause him to rest without the city.

Он медлил, но те двое взяли его за руку, и его жену, и двух дочерей, потому что Господь был к ним милостив, и вывели их за пределы города.

17 A nd it cometh to pass when he hath brought them out without, that he saith, `Escape for thy life; look not expectingly behind thee, nor stand thou in all the circuit; to the mountain escape, lest thou be consumed.'

Уже за пределами города один из них сказал: – Беги отсюда! Не оглядывайся назад и не останавливайся нигде в долине! Беги в горы, а не то ты погибнешь!

18 A nd Lot saith unto them, `Not, I pray thee, my lord;

Но Лот сказал им: – Нет, Владыка!

19 l o, I pray thee, thy servant hath found grace in thine eyes, and thou dost make great thy kindness which thou hast done with me by saving my life, and I am unable to escape to the mountain, lest the evil cleave me, and I have died;

Слуга Твой нашел в Твоих глазах расположение, и Ты явил мне великую милость, спасая мою жизнь. Но в горы мне не добежать: бедствие настигнет меня, и я погибну.

20 l o, I pray thee, this city near to flee thither, and it little; let me escape, I pray thee, thither, (is it not little?) and my soul doth live.'

Вон тот городок недалеко, туда я успею добежать, и он невелик. Позволь мне бежать туда – ведь он совсем мал, не так ли? – и моя жизнь будет спасена.

21 A nd he saith unto him, `Lo, I have accepted thy face also for this thing, without overthrowing the city which thou hast spoken;

Он ответил: – Хорошо, Я выполню и эту просьбу: Я не разрушу города, о котором ты говоришь.

22 h aste, escape thither, for I am not able to do anything till thine entering thither;' therefore hath he calleth the name of the city Zoar.

Беги туда быстрее, потому что Я ничего не могу сделать, пока ты не доберешься до него. (Вот почему тот город был назван Цоар ).

23 T he sun hath gone out on the earth, and Lot hath entered into Zoar,

Солнце уже встало, когда Лот добрался до Цоара.

24 a nd Jehovah hath rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Jehovah, from the heavens;

Тогда Господь пролил дождем на Содом и Гоморру горящую серу с небес от Господа.

25 a nd He overthroweth these cities, and all the circuit, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which is shooting up from the ground.

Он разрушил города и всю долину, и всех, кто жил в городах, и все, что росло на земле.

26 A nd his wife looketh expectingly from behind him, and she is -- a pillar of salt!

А жена Лота оглянулась назад и превратилась в соляной столб.

27 A nd Abraham riseth early in the morning, unto the place where he hath stood the face of Jehovah;

На другое утро Авраам поднялся рано и вернулся к тому месту, где он стоял перед Господом.

28 a nd he looketh on the face of Sodom and Gomorrah, and on all the face of the land of the circuit, and seeth, and lo, the smoke of the land went up as smoke of the furnace.

Он посмотрел на Содом и Гоморру и на всю долину и увидел: густой дым поднимается от земли, как дым из печи.

29 A nd it cometh to pass, in God's destroying the cities of the circuit, that God remembereth Abraham, and sendeth Lot out of the midst of the overthrow in the overthrowing of the cities in which Lot dwelt.

Так, когда Бог уничтожил города долины, Он вспомнил Авраама и спас Лота от бедствия, которое разрушило города, в которых жил Лот. Лот и его дочери

30 A nd Lot goeth up out of Zoar, and dwelleth in the mountain, and his two daughters with him, for he hath been afraid of dwelling in Zoar, and he dwelleth in a cave, he and his two daughters.

Лот и две его дочери покинули Цоар и поселились в горах, так как он боялся оставаться в Цоаре. Он жил в пещере со своими двумя дочерьми.

31 A nd the first-born saith unto the younger, `Our father old, and a man there is not in the earth to come in unto us, as the way of all the earth;

Старшая дочь сказала младшей: – Наш отец стар, а здесь нигде нет мужчины, чтобы лечь с нами по обычаю всей земли.

32 c ome, we cause our father to drink wine, and lie with him, and preserve from our father -- a seed.'

Давай напоим отца вином и ляжем с ним, чтобы сохранить наш род через нашего отца.

33 A nd they cause their father to drink wine on that night; and the first-born goeth in, and lieth with her father, and he hath not known in her lying down, or in her rising up.

В ту ночь они напоили отца вином, и старшая дочь вошла и легла с ним. Он и не знал, когда она легла и когда встала.

34 A nd it cometh to pass, on the morrow, that the first-born saith unto the younger, `Lo, I have lain yesterday-night with my father: we cause him to drink wine also to-night, and go thou in, lie with him, and we preserve from our father -- a seed.'

На другой день старшая дочь сказала младшей: – Прошлой ночью я легла с отцом. Давай опять напоим его вином сегодня вечером, и ты войдешь и ляжешь с ним, чтобы мы могли сохранить наш род через нашего отца.

35 A nd they cause their father to drink wine on that night also, and the younger riseth and lieth with him, and he hath not known in her lying down, or in her rising up.

Они напоили отца вином и в эту ночь, и младшая дочь вошла и легла с ним. Он и не знал, когда она легла и когда встала.

36 A nd the two daughters of Lot conceive from their father,

Так обе дочери Лота забеременели от отца.

37 a nd the first-born beareth a son, and calleth his name Moab; he father of Moab unto this day;

Старшая дочь родила сына и назвала его Моав; он – отец нынешних моавитян.

38 a s to the younger, she also hath born a son, and calleth his name Ben-Ammi: he father of the Beni-Ammon unto this day.

Младшая дочь тоже родила сына и назвала его Бен-Амми; он – отец нынешних аммонитян.
