1 A nd Naaman, head of the host of the king of Aram, was a great man before his lord, and accepted of face, for by him had Jehovah given salvation to Aram, and the man was mighty in valour -- leprous.

Нааман был военачальником царя Арама. Он был великим и уважаемым человеком в глазах своего господина, потому что через него Господь даровал Араму победу. Он был доблестным воином, но болел проказой.

2 A nd the Aramaeans have gone out troops, and they take captive out of the land of Israel a little damsel, and she is before the wife of Naaman,

Отряды арамеев во время одного из набегов взяли в Израиле в плен маленькую девочку, и она служила жене Наамана.

3 a nd she saith unto her mistress, `O that my lord before the prophet who in Samaria; then he doth recover him from his leprosy.'

Она сказала госпоже: – Если бы только моему господину повидать пророка, который в Самарии! Он исцелил бы его от проказы.

4 A nd goeth in and declareth to his lord, saying, `Thus and thus she hath spoken, the damsel who from the land of Israel.'

Нааман пошел к господину и передал ему то, что сказала девочка из Израиля.

5 A nd the king of Aram saith, `Go thou, enter, and I send a letter unto the king of Israel;' and he goeth and taketh in his hand ten talents of silver, and six thousand of gold, and ten changes of garments.

– Конечно, иди, − ответил царь Арама. − Я напишу письмо царю Израиля. И Нааман пошел, взяв с собой десять талантов серебра, шесть тысяч шекелей золота и десять смен одежды.

6 A nd he bringeth in the letter unto the king of Israel, saying, `And now, at the coming in of this letter unto thee, lo, I have sent unto thee Naaman my servant, and thou hast recovered him from his leprosy.'

В письме, которое он принес царю Израиля, говорилось: «Когда ты получишь это письмо, знай, что я послал к тебе моего слугу Наамана, чтобы ты вылечил его от проказы».

7 A nd it cometh to pass, at the king of Israel's reading the letter, that he rendeth his garments, and saith, `Am I God, to put to death and to keep alive, that this is sending unto me to recover a man from his leprosy? for surely know, I pray you, and see, for he is presenting himself to me.'

Когда царь Израиля прочитал это письмо, он разорвал на себе одежду и сказал: – Разве я Бог, чтобы умерщвлять и оживлять? Почему он посылает ко мне, чтобы я исцелял от проказы? Смотрите, он пытается затеять со мной ссору!

8 A nd it cometh to pass, at Elisha the man of God's hearing that the king of Israel hath rent his garments, that he sendeth unto the king, saying, `Why hast thou rent thy garments? let him come, I pray thee, unto me, and he doth know that there is a prophet in Israel.'

Когда Елисей, Божий человек, услышал о том, что царь Израиля разорвал на себе одежду, он послал сказать ему: – Почему ты разорвал на себе одежду? Пошли этого человека ко мне, и он узнает, что есть пророк в Израиле.

9 A nd Naaman cometh, with his horses and with his chariot, and standeth at the opening of the house for Elisha;

Нааман пришел с конями и колесницами и остановился у двери Елисеева дома.

10 a nd Elisha sendeth unto him a messenger, saying, `Go, and thou hast washed seven times in Jordan, and thy flesh doth turn back to thee -- and be thou clean.

Елисей отправил посланца сказать ему: – Пойди, омойся семь раз в Иордане, твое тело исцелится, и ты станешь чист.

11 A nd Naaman is wroth, and goeth on, and saith, `Lo, I said, Unto me he doth certainly come out, and hath stood and called in the name of Jehovah his God, and waved his hand over the place, and recovered the leper.

Но Нааман разгневался и ушел, говоря: – Я думал, что он непременно выйдет ко мне, встанет, призовет Имя Господа, своего Бога, поводит рукой над этим местом и исцелит меня от проказы.

12 A re not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? do I not wash in them and I have been clean?' and he turneth and goeth on in fury.

Разве Авана и Фарфар, реки Дамаска, не лучше всех вод Израиля? Разве я не мог омыться в них, чтобы очиститься? Он повернулся и в гневе ушел.

13 A nd his servants come nigh, and speak unto him, and say, `My father, a great thing had the prophet spoken unto thee -- dost thou not do ? and surely, when he hath said unto thee, Wash, and be clean.'

Слуги Наамана подошли к нему и сказали: – Отец, если бы пророк сказал тебе сделать нечто великое, разве бы ты этого не сделал? А он лишь сказал тебе: «Омойся и будешь чист»!

14 A nd he goeth down and dippeth in Jordan seven times, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh doth turn back as the flesh of a little youth, and is clean.

Тогда он пошел и семь раз окунулся в Иордане, как сказал ему Божий человек, − и его тело исцелилось и стало чистым, как у младенца.

15 A nd he turneth back unto the man of God, he and all his camp, and cometh in, and standeth before him, and saith, `Lo, I pray thee, I have known that there is not a God in all the earth except in Israel; and now, take, I pray thee, a blessing from thy servant.'

Нааман со слугами вернулся к Божьему человеку. Он встал перед ним и сказал: – Теперь я знаю, что во всем мире нет Бога, кроме как в Израиле. А теперь, прошу, прими от твоего слуги подарок.

16 A nd he saith, `Jehovah liveth, before whom I have stood -- if I take;' and he presseth on him to take, and he refuseth.

Пророк ответил: – Верно, как и то, что жив Господь, Которому я служу – я ничего не приму. И хотя Нааман уговаривал его, он отказался.

17 A nd Naaman saith, `If not -- let be given, I pray thee, to thy servant, a couple of mules' burden of earth, for thy servant doth make no more burnt-offering and sacrifice to other gods, but to Jehovah.

– Если ты не желаешь, − сказал Нааман, − то прошу тебя, пусть твоему слуге дадут столько земли, сколько сможет увезти пара мулов, потому что твой слуга никогда больше не будет приносить всесожжения и жертвы никакому богу, кроме Господа.

18 F or this thing Jehovah be propitious to thy servant, in the coming in of my lord into the house of Rimmon to bow himself there, and he was supported by my hand, and I bowed myself the house of Rimmon; for my bowing myself in the house of Rimmon Jehovah be propitious, I pray thee, to thy servant in this thing.'

Пусть только Господь простит твоего слугу за одно: когда мой господин входит в храм Риммона, чтобы поклониться там, и опирается на мою руку, я кланяюсь тоже. Когда я буду кланяться в храме Риммона, пусть Господь простит за это твоего слугу.

19 A nd he saith to him, `Go in peace.' And he goeth from him a kibrath of land,

– Иди с миром, – сказал Елисей. Гиезий наказан проказой Когда Нааман уже отошел на некоторое расстояние,

20 A nd Gehazi, servant of Elisha the man of God, saith, `Lo, my lord hath spared Naaman this Aramaean, not to receive from his hand that which he brought; Jehovah liveth; surely if I have run after him, then I have taken from him something.'

Гиезий, слуга Елисея, Божьего человека, сказал себе: «Мой господин отпустил этого арамея Наамана слишком легко, не взяв у него никаких даров. Верно, как и то, что Господь жив – я побегу за ним и возьму у него что-нибудь».

21 A nd Gehazi pursueth after Naaman, and Naaman seeth one running after him, and alighteth from off the chariot to meet him, and saith, `Is there peace?'

Гиезий помчался за Нааманом. Когда Нааман увидел, как он бежит к нему, он слез с колесницы, чтобы встретить его. – Все ли благополучно? − спросил он.

22 A nd he saith, `Peace; my lord hath sent me, saying, Lo, now, this, come unto me have two young men from the hill-country of Ephraim, of the sons of the prophets; give, I pray thee, to them, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.'

– Все благополучно, − ответил Гиезий. – Мой господин послал меня сказать: «Два молодых ученика пророков пришли ко мне из нагорий Ефрема. Прошу тебя, дай им талант серебра и две смены одежды».

23 A nd Naaman saith, `Be pleased, take two talents;' and he urgeth on him, and bindeth two talents of silver in two purses, and two changes of garments, and giveth unto two of his young men, and they bear before him;

– Конечно! Бери два таланта, – сказал Нааман. Он уговорил Гиезия взять два таланта серебра в двух мешках, вместе с двумя сменами одежды. Он отдал их двум слугам, и они понесли их перед Гиезием.

24 a nd he cometh in unto the high place, and taketh out of their hand, and layeth up in the house, and sendeth away the men, and they go.

Когда Гиезий пришел на холм, он взял это у слуг и положил у себя дома. Он отпустил людей, и они ушли.

25 A nd he hath come in, and doth stand by his lord, and Elisha saith unto him, `Whence -- Gehazi?' and he saith, `Thy servant went not hither or thither.'

После этого он вошел и встал перед своим господином Елисеем. – Где ты был, Гиезий? − спросил Елисей. – Твой слуга никуда не ходил, − ответил Гиезий.

26 A nd he saith unto him, `My heart went not when the man turned from off his chariot to meet thee; is it a time to take silver, and to take garments, and olives, and vines, and flock, and herd, and men-servants, and maid-servants?

Но Елисей сказал ему: – Разве не был с тобой мой дух, когда тот человек слез с колесницы, чтобы встретить тебя? Время ли брать деньги или принимать одежды, масличные рощи, виноградники, отары, стада, слуг или служанок?

27 y ea, the leprosy of Naaman doth cleave to thee, and to thy seed, -- to the age;' and he goeth out from before him -- leprous as snow.

Так пусть проказа Наамана пристанет к тебе и твоим потомкам навеки. И когда Гиезий вышел от Елисея, он был бел от проказы, как снег.
