1 A nd it cometh to pass, at king Hezekiah's hearing, that he rendeth his garments, and covereth himself with sackcloth, and entereth the house of Jehovah,

Когда царь Езекия услышал это, он разорвал на себе одежду, надел рубище и пошел в дом Господа.

2 a nd sendeth Eliakim, who over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covering themselves with sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet, son of Amoz,

Он послал распорядителя дворца Элиакима, писаря Шевну и старших священников, одетых в рубище, к пророку Исаии, сыну Амоца.

3 a nd they say unto him, `Thus said Hezekiah -- A day of distress, and rebuke, and despising this day; for come have sons unto the birth, and power there is not to bring forth.

Они сказали ему: – Так говорит Езекия: «Сегодня день беды, наказания и бесчестия; словно дитя вот-вот должно родиться, а родить нет силы.

4 ` It may be Jehovah thy God doth hear all the words of the chief of the butlers with which the king of Asshur his lord hath sent him to reproach the living God, and hath decided concerning the words that Jehovah thy God hath heard, and thou hast lifted up prayer for the remnant that is found.'

Может быть, Господь, твой Бог, услышит все слова Рабсака, которого его господин, царь Ассирии, послал глумиться над живым Богом, и накажет его за слова, которые услышал Господь, твой Бог. Вознеси же молитву за тех, кто еще жив».

5 A nd the servants of king Hezekiah come in unto Isaiah,

Когда приближенные царя Езекии пришли к Исаии,

6 a nd Isaiah saith to them, `Thus do ye say unto your lord: Thus said Jehovah, Be not afraid because of the words that thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Asshur have reviled Me.

тот сказал им: – Скажите своему господину: «Так говорит Господь: “Не бойся того, что ты слышал – тех слов, которыми оскорбляли Меня слуги царя Ассирии.

7 L o, I am giving in him a spirit, and he hath heard a report, and hath turned back to his land, and I have caused him to fall by the sword in his land.'

Вот Я пошлю в него такой дух, что когда он услышит одну весть, то будет вынужден вернуться в свою страну. А там Я поражу его, и он падет от меча”».

8 A nd the chief of the butlers turneth back and findeth the king of Asshur fighting against Libnah, for he hath heard that he hath journeyed from Lachish.

Когда Рабсак услышал, что царь Ассирии оставил Лахиш, он вернулся и нашел царя осаждающим Ливну. Новая угроза Синаххериба и молитва Езекии (Ис. 37: 9-20)

9 A nd he heareth concerning Tirhakah king of Cush, saying, `Lo, he hath come out to fight with thee;' and he turneth and sendeth messengers unto Hezekiah, saying,

Синаххериб получил весть, что Тиргака, царь Куша, идет на него войной. Тогда он опять послал к Езекии послов, чтобы сказать:

10 ` Thus do ye speak unto Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God lift thee up in whom thou art trusting, saying, Jerusalem is not given into the hand of the king of Asshur.

– Скажите Езекии, царю Иудеи: «Не давай Богу, на Которого ты надеешься, обманывать тебя, когда Он говорит: “Иерусалим не будет отдан царю Ассирии”.

11 L o, thou hast heard that which the kings of Asshur have done to all the lands -- to devote them; and thou art delivered!

Ты же слышал о том, что цари Ассирии сделали со всеми странами, предав их полному уничтожению. А разве ты уцелеешь?

12 d id the gods of the nations deliver them whom my fathers destroyed -- Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the sons of Eden, who in Thelassar?

Разве боги народов, истребленных моими отцами, боги городов Гозана, Харрана, Рецефа и народа Едена, который был в Телассаре, спасли их?

13 W here the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?'

Где теперь царь города Хамата, царь города Арпада, цари городов Сепарваима, Ены или Иввы?»

14 A nd Hezekiah taketh the letters out of the hand of the messengers, and readeth them, and goeth up to the house of Jehovah, and Hezekiah spreadeth it before Jehovah.

Езекия получил письмо через послов и прочитал его. Тогда он пошел в дом Господа и развернул его перед Господом.

15 A nd Hezekiah prayeth before Jehovah, and saith, `O Jehovah, God of Israel, inhabiting the cherubs, Thou God Himself -- Thyself alone -- to all the kingdoms of the earth: Thou hast made the heavens and the earth.

Езекия молился Господу: – О Господи, Бог Израиля, восседающий на херувимах, лишь Ты – Бог над всеми земными царствами. Ты создал небо и землю.

16 I ncline, O Jehovah, Thine ear, and hear; open, O Jehovah, Thine eyes, and see; and hear Thou the words of Sennacherib with which he hath sent him to reproach the living God.

Склони, Господи, ухо Свое и услышь; открой, Господи, глаза Свои и взгляни; услышь слова Синаххериба, которые он послал, чтобы глумиться над живым Богом.

17 ` Truly, O Jehovah, kings of Asshur have laid waste the nations, and their land,

Правда, Господи, что ассирийские цари погубили эти народы и их страны,

18 a nd have put their gods into fire, for they no gods, but work of the hands of man, wood and stone, and destroy them.

бросили их богов в огонь и уничтожили их, потому что то были не боги, а только дерево и камень, обработанные руками человека.

19 A nd now, O Jehovah our God, save us, we pray Thee, out of his hand, and know do all kingdoms of the earth that Thou Jehovah God -- Thyself alone.'

Теперь, Господи, наш Бог, молю, избавь нас от его руки, чтобы все царства земные узнали, что только Ты, Господи, – Бог. Пророчество Исаии о падении Синаххериба (Ис. 37: 21-35)

20 A nd Isaiah son of Amoz sendeth unto Hezekiah, saying, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed unto Me concerning Sennacherib king of Asshur I have heard:

Исаия, сын Амоца, послал сказать Езекии: – Так говорит Господь, Бог Израиля: «Я услышал твою молитву против Синаххериба, царя Ассирии».

21 t his the word that Jehovah spake concerning him: `Trampled on thee -- laughed at thee, Hath the virgin daughter of Zion Behind thee shaken the head -- Hath the daughter of Jerusalem?

Вот слово, которое сказал о нем Господь: – Девственная дочь Сиона, презирает тебя, над тобой смеется. Дочь Иерусалима вслед тебе головой качает.

22 W hom hast thou reproached and reviled? And against whom lifted up a voice? Yea, thou dost lift up on high thine eyes -- Against the Holy One of Israel!

Ты над кем глумился, кого оскорблял? На кого ты повысил голос и глаза надменные поднял? На Святого Израилева!

23 B y the hand of thy messengers Thou hast reproached the Lord, and sayest: In the multitude of my chariots I have come up to a high place of mountains -- The sides of Lebanon, And I cut down the height of its cedars, The choice of its firs, And I enter the lodging of its extremity, The forest of its Carmel.

Через своих послов глумился ты над Владыкой. Ты сказал: «Со множеством моих колесниц я поднялся на горные вершины, на дальние склоны Ливана. Я срубил его высочайшие кедры, его лучшие кипарисы. Я достиг его самых отдаленных мест, его наилучших лесов.

24 I have digged, and drunk strange waters, And I dry up with the sole of my steps All floods of a bulwark.

Я копал колодцы и пил воду чужих земель. Ступнями своих ног я иссушил все реки Египта».

25 H ast thou not heard from afar, it I made, From days of old that I formed it? Now I have brought it in, And it becometh a desolation, Ruinous heaps fenced cities,

Разве ты не слышал? Давно Я это определил, в древние дни задумал. Теперь Я это исполнил тем, что ты превратил укрепленные города в груды развалин.

26 A nd their inhabitants feeble-handed, They were broken down, and are dried up, They have been the herb of the field, And the greenness of the tender grass, Grass of the roofs, And blasted corn -- before it hath risen up!

Их жители обессилены, испуганы, опозорены. Они – как растения в поле, как нежные зеленые побеги, как трава, пробившаяся на крыше, опаленная прежде, чем вырасти.

27 A nd thy sitting down, and thy going out, And thy coming in, I have known, And thine anger towards Me;

Но Я знаю, когда ты садишься, когда выходишь и входишь, и как ты гневаешься на Меня.

28 B ecause of thine anger towards Me, And thy noise -- it came up into Mine ears, I have put My hook in thy nose, And My bridle in thy lips, And have caused thee to turn back, In the way in which thou camest.

За твою ярость против Меня и за твою надменность, что достигла Моих ушей, Я продену в твой нос Мое кольцо, и вложу в твой рот Мои удила, и верну тебя назад той дорогой, которой ты пришел.

29 A nd this to thee the sign, Food of the year the spontaneous growth, And in the second year the self-produced, And in the third year sow ye, and reap, And plant vineyards, and eat their fruits.

Это будет тебе знамением, Езекия: В этом году вы будете есть то, что вырастет само собой, а в следующем году то, что вырастет из этого. Но в третий год сейте и жните, сажайте виноградники и ешьте их плоды.

30 A nd it hath continued -- The escaped of the house of Judah That hath been left -- to take root beneath, And hath made fruit upward.

Уцелевшие из дома Иуды опять пустят корни внизу и принесут плод наверху.

31 F or from Jerusalem goeth out a remnant, And an escape from mount Zion; The zeal of Jehovah doth this.

Ведь из Иерусалима выйдет остаток, и с горы Сион – уцелевшие. Это совершит ревность Господа Сил.

32 T herefore, thus said Jehovah, Concerning the king of Asshur: He doth not come in unto this city, Nor doth he shoot there an arrow, Nor doth he come before it with shield. Nor doth he pour out against it a mount.

Поэтому Господь говорит о царе Ассирии так: – Он не войдет в этот город и не пустит сюда стрелы. Он не приступит к нему со щитом и не насыплет против него осадного вала.

33 I n the way that he cometh in -- In it he turneth back, And unto this city he doth not come in, The affirmation of Jehovah --

Он вернется той же дорогой, какой пришел, он не войдет в этот город, – возвещает Господь. –

34 A nd I have covered over this city, To save it, for Mine own sake, And for the sake of David My servant.'

Я защищу этот город и спасу его, ради Себя и ради Давида, Моего слуги. Поражение ассирийской армии (2 Пар. 32: 21; Ис. 37: 36-38)

35 A nd it cometh to pass, in that night, that a messenger of Jehovah goeth out, and smiteth in the camp of Asshur a hundred eighty and five thousand, and they rise early in the morning, and lo, all of them dead corpses.

В ту же ночь Ангел Господень вышел и предал смерти в лагере ассирийцев сто восемьдесят пять тысяч человек. Когда на следующее утро люди проснулись, то увидели повсюду мертвые тела.

36 A nd Sennacherib king of Asshur journeyeth, and goeth, and turneth back, and dwelleth in Nineveh;

Тогда Синаххериб, царь Ассирии, снял лагерь и ушел. Он возвратился домой и жил в Ниневии.

37 a nd it cometh to pass, he is bowing himself in the house of Nisroch his god, and Adramelech and Sharezar have smitten him with the sword, and they have escaped to the land of Ararat, and Esar-Haddon his son reigneth in his stead.

Однажды, когда он поклонялся в храме своего бога Нисроха, его сыновья Адрамелех и Сарецер поразили его мечом и бежали в араратскую землю. А Асархаддон, его сын, стал царем вместо него.
