1 A nd it cometh to pass, at that time, that Judah goeth down from his brethren, and turneth aside unto a man, an Adullamite, whose name Hirah;

Иуда в то время оставил братьев и поселился у одного человека из Адуллама по имени Хира.

2 a nd Judah seeth there the daughter of a man, a Canaanite, whose name Shuah, and taketh her, and goeth in unto her.

Там Иуда встретил дочь хананея, которого звали Шуа. Он женился на ней и стал с ней жить;

3 A nd she conceiveth, and beareth a son, and he calleth his name Er;

она забеременела и родила сына, которого назвали Ир.

4 a nd she conceiveth again, and beareth a son, and calleth his name Onan;

Она вновь забеременела и родила сына и назвала его Онан.

5 a nd she addeth again, and beareth a son, and calleth his name Shelah; and he was in Chezib in her bearing him.

Она родила еще одного сына и назвала его Шела. Она родила его в Хезиве.

6 A nd Judah taketh a wife for Er, his first-born, and her name Tamar;

Иуда взял для своего первенца Ира жену, по имени Фамарь.

7 a nd Er, Judah's first-born, is evil in the eyes of Jehovah, and Jehovah doth put him to death.

Но Ир, Иудин первенец, был грешен в глазах Господа, и Господь предал его смерти.

8 A nd Judah saith to Onan, `Go in unto the wife of thy brother, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother;'

Тогда Иуда сказал Онану: – Ты должен лечь с женой брата и исполнить долг деверя: произвести потомство для брата.

9 a nd Onan knoweth that the seed is not his; and it hath come to pass, if he hath gone in unto his brother's wife, that he hath destroyed to the earth, so as not to give seed to his brother;

Но Онан знал, что потомство будет не его, и поэтому всякий раз, ложась с женой брата, он изливал семя на землю, чтобы не произвести потомства для брата.

10 a nd that which he hath done is evil in the eyes of Jehovah, and He putteth him also to death.

То, что он делал, было грешно в глазах Господа, поэтому Он предал смерти и Онана.

11 A nd Judah saith to Tamar his daughter-in-law, `Abide a widow at thy father's house, till Shelah my son groweth up;' for he said, `Lest he die -- even he -- like his brethren;' and Tamar goeth and dwelleth at her father's house.

Тогда Иуда сказал своей невестке Фамари: – Живи вдовой в доме у твоего отца, пока не вырастет мой сын Шела, – потому что он подумал: «Как бы и Шела не умер вслед за братьями». И Фамарь отправилась жить в дом отца.

12 A nd the days are multiplied, and the daughter of Shuah, Judah's wife, dieth; and Judah is comforted, and goeth up unto his sheep-shearers, he and Hirah his friend the Adullamite, to Timnath.

Много времени спустя жена Иуды, дочь Шуа, умерла. Когда Иуда утешился, он пошел в Тимну к людям, которые стригли его овец, и его друг адулламитянин Хира пошел с ним.

13 A nd it is declared to Tamar, saying, `Lo, thy husband's father is going up to Timnath to shear his flock;'

Фамари сказали: – Твой свекор держит путь в Тимну стричь своих овец.

14 a nd she turneth aside the garments of her widowhood from off her, and covereth herself with a vail, and wrappeth herself up, and sitteth in the opening of Enayim, which by the way to Timnath, for she hath seen that Shelah hath grown up, and she hath not been given to him for a wife.

Она сняла вдовьи одежды, покрылась накидкой, чтобы ее не узнали, и села у входа в Энаим, который на дороге в Тимну, потому что она видела, что хотя Шела уже вырос, ее не отдали ему в жены.

15 A nd Judah seeth her, and reckoneth her for a harlot, for she hath covered her face,

Когда Иуда увидел ее, он принял ее за блудницу, потому что у нее было закрыто лицо.

16 a nd he turneth aside unto her by the way, and saith, `Come, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee,' (for he hath not known that she his daughter-in-law); and she saith, `What dost thou give to me, that thou mayest come in unto me?'

Он свернул с дороги к ней и сказал: – Пойдем, позволь мне лечь с тобой, – ведь он не знал, что это его невестка. Она спросила: – А что ты дашь мне за то, чтобы лечь со мной?

17 a nd he saith, `I -- I send a kid of the goats from the flock.' And she saith, `Dost thou give a pledge till thou send ?'

Он ответил: – Я пошлю тебе козленка из моего стада. Она спросила: – А ты дашь мне залог до тех пор, пока не пришлешь козленка?

18 a nd he saith, `What the pledge that I give to thee?' and she saith, `Thy seal, and thy ribbon, and thy staff which in thy hand;' and he giveth to her, and goeth in unto her, and she conceiveth to him;

Он сказал: – Какой залог тебе дать? Она ответила: – Твою печать на шнурке и посох, который у тебя в руке. Он дал ей все это и переспал с ней, и она забеременела от него.

19 a nd she riseth, and goeth, and turneth aside her vail from off her, and putteth on the garments of her widowhood.

Уйдя оттуда, она сняла свое покрывало и вновь надела вдовьи одежды.

20 A nd Judah sendeth the kid of the goats by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive the pledge from the hand of the woman, and he hath not found her.

Тем временем Иуда послал через своего друга адулламитянина козленка, чтобы получить назад залог у той женщины, но друг не нашел ее.

21 A nd he asketh the men of her place, saying, `Where the separated one -- she in Enayim, by the way?' and they say, `There hath not been in this a separated one.'

Он спросил у местных жителей: – Где та храмовая блудница, которая сидела у дороги в Энаим? Они ответили: – Здесь не было никакой храмовой блудницы.

22 A nd he turneth back unto Judah, and saith, `I have not found her; and the men of the place also have said, There hath not been in this a separated one,'

Он вернулся к Иуде и сказал: – Я не нашел ее, и жители того места сказали: «Здесь нет никакой храмовой блудницы».

23 a nd Judah saith, `Let her take to herself, lest we become despised; lo, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her.'

Иуда сказал: – Пусть оставит себе то, что взяла, иначе мы станем посмешищем. Я ведь посылал ей козленка, но ты ее не нашел.

24 A nd it cometh to pass about three months, that it is declared to Judah, saying, `Tamar thy daughter-in-law hath committed fornication; and also, lo, she hath conceived by fornication:' and Judah saith, `Bring her out -- and she is burnt.'

Месяца три спустя Иуде сказали: – Твоя невестка Фамарь впала в блуд и от этого забеременела. Иуда сказал: – Выведите ее, и пусть она будет сожжена!

25 S he is brought out, and she hath sent unto her husband's father, saying, `To a man whose these, I pregnant;' and she saith, `Discern, I pray thee, whose these -- the seal, and the ribbons, and the staff.'

Но когда ее уводили, она послала к свекру с такими словами: – Я беременна от человека, которому принадлежат эти вещи. Еще она сказала: – Посмотри, не узнаешь, чьи это печать, шнур и посох?

26 A nd Judah discerneth and saith, `She hath been more righteous than I, because that I did not give her to Shelah my son;' and he hath not added to know her again.

Иуда узнал их и сказал: – Она правее, чем я, потому что я не отдал ее за моего сына Шелу. И он больше не ложился с ней.

27 A nd it cometh to pass in the time of her bearing, that lo, twins in her womb;

Когда пришло ей время рожать, в утробе у нее оказались мальчики-близнецы.

28 a nd it cometh to pass in her bearing, that giveth out a hand, and the midwife taketh and bindeth on his hand a scarlet thread, saying, `This hath come out first.'

Когда она уже рожала, один из них высунул руку; тогда женщина, принимавшая роды взяла алую нить, обвязала ему запястье и сказала: – Этот вышел первым.

29 A nd it cometh to pass as he draweth back his hand, that lo, his brother hath come out, and she saith, `What! thou hast broken forth -- on thee the breach;' and he calleth his name Pharez;

Но он втянул руку обратно, и вышел его брат; тогда она сказала: – Как это ты прорвался? И его назвали Парец.

30 a nd afterwards hath his brother come out, on whose hand the scarlet thread, and he calleth his name Zarah.

Затем вышел и тот, у которого на запястье была алая нить, и ему дали имя Зерах.
