1 A nd Athaliah mother of Ahaziah, and she hath seen that her son dead, and she riseth, and destroyeth all the seed of the kingdom;

2 a nd Jehosheba daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, taketh Joash son of Ahaziah, and stealeth him out of the midst of the sons of the king who are put to death, him and his nurse, in the inner part of the bed-chambers, and they hide him from the presence of Athaliah, and he hath not been put to death,

Но Иосавеф, дочь царя Иорама и сестра Охозии, взяла Иоаша, сына Охозии, выкрала его из среды царских сыновей, которых должны были убить, и спрятала его вместе с кормилицей в спальне. Так она укрыла его от Аталии, и он не был убит.

3 a nd he is with her, in the house of Jehovah, hiding himself, six years, and Athaliah is reigning over the land.

Он скрывался с кормилицей в доме Господа шесть лет, пока Аталия правила страной. Восстание против Аталии (2 Пар. 23: 1-21)

4 A nd in the seventh year hath Jehoiada sent and taketh the heads of the hundreds, of the executioners and of the runners, and bringeth them in unto him, to the house of Jehovah, and maketh with them a covenant, and causeth them to swear in the house of Jehovah, and sheweth them the son of the king,

На седьмом году правления Аталии Иодай послал за сотниками царской охраны и дворцовой стражи, чтобы их привели к нему в дом Господа. Он заключил с ними завет, взял с них клятву в доме Господа и показал им царского сына.

5 a nd commandeth them, saying, `This the thing that ye do; The third of you going in on the sabbath, and keepers of the charge of the house of the king,

Он приказал им: – Вот, что вы должны сделать: треть из вас, кто заступает на службу в субботу, будет стеречь царский дворец,

6 a nd the third at the gate of Sur, and the third at the gate behind the runners, and ye have kept the charge of the house pulled down;

вторая треть – ворота Сур и последняя треть – ворота, что за дворцовыми стражниками. Вы никого не должны подпускать к дому.

7 a nd two parts of you, all going out on the sabbath -- they have kept the charge of the house of Jehovah about the king,

А два ваших подразделения, что обычно уходят со службы в субботу, должны остаться при доме Господа охранять царя.

8 a nd ye have compassed the king round about, each with his weapons in his hand, and he who is coming unto the ranges is put to death; and be ye with the king in his going out and in his coming in.'

Встаньте вокруг царя, каждый с оружием в руках, и убивайте всякого, кто подойдет к вашим рядам. Будьте при царе, куда бы он ни пошел.

9 A nd the heads of the hundreds do according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded, and take each his men going in on the sabbath, with those going out on the sabbath, and come in unto Jehoiada the priest,

Сотники сделали все так, как приказал священник Иодай. Каждый взял своих людей − и тех, кто заступал на службу в ту субботу, и тех, кто в ту субботу уходил со службы, − и пришел к священнику Иодаю.

10 a nd the priest giveth to the heads of the hundreds the spears and the shields that king David had, that in the house of Jehovah.

Он раздал сотникам копья и щиты, которые некогда принадлежали царю Давиду и находились в доме Господа.

11 A nd the runners stand, each with his weapons in his hand, from the right shoulder of the house unto the left shoulder of the house, by the altar and by the house, by the king round about;

Стражи с оружием в руках встали вокруг царя от южной стороны дома до северной, вокруг жертвенника и дома.

12 a nd he bringeth out the son of the king, and putteth on him the crown, and the testimony, and they make him king, and anoint him, and smite the hand, and say, `Let the king live.'

Иодай вывел сына царя, возложил на него корону, дал ему копию Закона и провозгласил его царем. Его помазали, и народ рукоплескал и кричал: – Да здравствует царь!

13 A nd Athaliah heareth the voice of the runners of the people, and she cometh in unto the people, to the house of Jehovah,

Услышав шум стражи и народа, Аталия отправилась к ним в дом Господа.

14 a nd looketh, and lo, the king is standing by the pillar, according to the ordinance, and the heads, and the trumpets, by the king, and all the people of the land are rejoicing, and blowing with trumpets, and Athaliah rendeth her garments, and calleth, `Conspiracy! conspiracy!'

Она посмотрела и увидела: у колонны, как велит обычай, стоял царь! Возле него были начальники отрядов и трубачи, и весь народ страны ликовал и трубил в трубы. Аталия разорвала свои одежды и закричала: – Заговор! Заговор!

15 A nd Jehoiada the priest commandeth the heads of the hundreds, inspectors of the force, and saith unto them, `Bring her out unto the outside of the ranges, and him who is going after her, put to death by the sword:' for the priest had said, `Let her not be put to death in the house of Jehovah.'

Священник Иодай приказал сотникам, которые распоряжались войском: – Выведите ее за пределы дома и убейте мечом всякого, кто за ней пойдет. (Потому что священник сказал: «Ее нельзя предавать смерти в Господнем доме».)

16 A nd they make for her sides, and she entereth the way of the entering in of the horses to the house of the king, and is put to death there.

Ее схватили и повели к царскому дворцу через вход, которым водят коней, и там она была предана смерти.

17 A nd Jehoiada maketh the covenant between Jehovah and the king and the people, to be for a people to Jehovah, and between the king and the people.

А Иодай заключил завет между Господом, царем и народом, что они будут народом Господа. Еще он заключил завет между царем и народом.

18 A nd all the people of the land go in to the house of Baal, and break it down, its altars and its images they have thoroughly broken, and Mattan priest of Baal they have slain before the altars; and the priest setteth inspectors over the house of Jehovah,

Весь народ страны пошел к храму Баала и разрушил его. Они разбили на куски жертвенники и идолов и убили перед жертвенниками Маттана, жреца Баала. Затем священник Иодай установил присмотр за домом Господа.

19 a nd taketh the heads of the hundreds, and the executioners, and the runners, and all the people of the land, and they bring down the king from the house of Jehovah, and come by the way of the gate of the runners, to the house of the king, and he sitteth on the throne of the kings.

Он взял с собой сотников, царскую охрану, дворцовую стражу и весь народ страны, и они вместе вывели царя из дома Господа и вошли в царский дворец через ворота Стражи. Царь сел на свое место на царском престоле,

20 A nd all the people of the land rejoice, and the city quiet, and Athaliah they have put to death by the sword in the house of the king;

и весь народ страны ликовал. А город, после того, как Аталия была убита мечом в царском дворце, успокоился. Иоаш – царь Иудеи (2 Пар. 24: 1-3)

21 a son of seven years is Jehoash in his reigning.

Иоашу было семь лет, когда он начал царствовать.
