1 A nd there is a famine in the land, besides the first famine which was in the days of Abraham, and Isaac goeth unto Abimelech king of the Philistines, to Gerar.

В земле был голод, – не тот прежний голод, который был при Аврааме, – и Исаак пошел к Авимелеху, царю филистимлян, в Герар.

2 A nd Jehovah appeareth unto him, and saith, `Go not down towards Egypt, tabernacle in the land concerning which I speak unto thee,

Господь явился Исааку и сказал: – Не иди в Египет; живи на той земле, где Я скажу тебе жить.

3 s ojourn in this land, and I am with thee, and bless thee, for to thee and to thy seed I give all these lands, and I have established the oath which I have sworn to Abraham thy father;

Поселись на этой земле на время, и Я буду с тобой и благословлю тебя, потому что Я исполню клятву, которую дал твоему отцу Аврааму, и дам все эти земли тебе и твоим потомкам.

4 a nd I have multiplied thy seed as stars of the heavens, and I have given to thy seed all these lands; and blessed themselves in thy seed have all nations of the earth;

Я сделаю твое потомство многочисленным, как звезды на небе, и дам им все эти земли, и через твое потомство получат благословение все народы на земле,

5 b ecause that Abraham hath hearkened to My voice, and keepeth My charge, My commands, My statutes, and My laws.'

потому что Авраам слушался Меня и хранил Мои повеления, заповеди, уставы и законы.

6 A nd Isaac dwelleth in Gerar;

И Исаак поселился в Гераре.

7 a nd men of the place ask him of his wife, and he saith, `She my sister:' for he hath been afraid to say, `My wife -- lest the men of the place kill me for Rebekah, for she of good appearance.'

Когда жители того места спросили у него о его жене, он сказал: «Это моя сестра», потому что боялся сказать: «Это моя жена». Он думал: «Жители этого места могут убить меня из-за Ревекки, потому что она красива».

8 A nd it cometh to pass, when the days have been prolonged to him there, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looketh through the window, and seeth, and lo, Isaac is playing with Rebekah his wife.

Однажды, когда Исаак уже долгое время прожил там, Авимелех, царь филистимлян, выглянул из окна и увидел, как Исаак ласкает свою жену Ревекку.

9 A nd Abimelech calleth for Isaac, and saith, `Lo, she surely thy wife; and how hast thou said, She my sister?' and Isaac saith unto him, `Because I said, Lest I die for her.'

Авимелех призвал Исаака и сказал: – Итак, она твоя жена! Почему же ты сказал: «Она моя сестра»? Исаак ответил ему: – Потому что я думал, что могу за нее поплатиться жизнью.

10 A nd Abimelech saith, `What this thou hast done to us? as a little thing one of the people had lain with thy wife, and thou hadst brought upon us guilt;'

Тогда Авимелех сказал: – Что же ты сделал с нами? Один из мужчин мог лечь с твоей женой, и ты навлек бы на нас вину.

11 a nd Abimelech commandeth all the people, saying, `He who cometh against this man or against his wife, dying doth die.'

Авимелех приказал всему народу: – Всякий, кто тронет этого человека или его жену, непременно будет предан смерти. Спор с филистимлянами о колодцах

12 A nd Isaac soweth in that land, and findeth in that year a hundredfold, and Jehovah blesseth him;

Исаак засеял поля в той земле и в тот же год собрал урожай стократно, и Господь благословил его:

13 a nd the man is great, and goeth on, going on and becoming great, till that he hath been very great,

он разбогател, и состояние его все росло, пока он не стал очень богатым.

14 a nd he hath possession of a flock, and possession of a herd, and an abundant service; and the Philistines envy him,

У него были такие большие стада мелкого и крупного скота и столько слуг, что филистимляне завидовали ему.

15 a nd all the wells which his father's servants digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines have stopped them, and fill them with dust.

Они засыпали землей все колодцы, которые еще во времена его отца выкопали слуги отца его Авраама.

16 A nd Abimelech saith unto Isaac, `Go from us; for thou hast become much mightier than we;'

Авимелех сказал Исааку: – Уходи от нас; ты стал слишком силен для нас.

17 a nd Isaac goeth from thence, and encampeth in the valley of Gerar, and dwelleth there;

Исаак ушел оттуда, поселился в герарской долине и обосновался там.

18 a nd Isaac turneth back, and diggeth the wells of water which they digged in the days of Abraham his father, which the Philistines do stop after the death of Abraham, and he calleth to them names according to the names which his father called them.

Исаак расчистил колодцы, которые были выкопаны во времена его отца Авраама, а затем засыпаны филистимлянами после его смерти, и дал им те же названия, какие прежде дал его отец.

19 A nd Isaac's servants dig in the valley, and find there a well of living water,

Слуги Исаака стали копать в долине и открыли там колодец с родниковой водой,

20 a nd shepherds of Gerar strive with shepherds of Isaac, saying, `The water ours;' and he calleth the name of the well `Strife,' because they have striven habitually with him;

но герарские пастухи затеяли ссору с пастухами Исаака, говоря: «Это наша вода!» Он назвал колодец Есек, потому что они спорили с ним.

21 a nd they dig another well, and they strive also for it, and he calleth its name `Hatred.'

Потом они выкопали другой колодец, но и из-за него вышла ссора, поэтому он назвал его Ситна.

22 A nd he removeth from thence, and diggeth another well, and they have not striven for it, and he calleth its name Enlargements, and saith, `For -- now hath Jehovah given enlargement to us, and we have been fruitful in the land.'

Он ушел оттуда и выкопал еще один колодец, из-за которого ссоры не было, и он назвал его Реховот, говоря: «Теперь Господь дал нам место, и мы умножимся в этой земле».

23 A nd he goeth up from thence Beer-Sheba,

Он направился оттуда в Вирсавию.

24 a nd Jehovah appeareth unto him during that night, and saith, `I the God of Abraham thy father, fear not, for I with thee, and have blessed thee, and have multiplied thy seed, because of Abraham My servant;'

В ту ночь Господь явился ему и сказал: – Я – Бог твоего отца Авраама. Не бойся, Я с тобой. Я благословлю тебя и увеличу число твоих потомков ради Моего слуги Авраама.

25 a nd he buildeth there an altar, and preacheth in the name of Jehovah, and stretcheth out there his tent, and there Isaac's servants dig a well.

Исаак построил там жертвенник и призвал Имя Господа и поставил там шатер, а слуги его выкопали колодец.

26 A nd Abimelech hath gone unto him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath his friend, and Phichol head of his host;

Авимелех пришел к нему из Герара вместе с Ахузатом, своим личным советником, и Фихолом, начальником его войска.

27 a nd Isaac saith unto them, `Wherefore have ye come unto me, and ye have hated me, and ye send me away from you?'

Исаак спросил их: – Зачем вы пришли, ведь вы были враждебны ко мне и прогнали меня?

28 A nd they say, `We have certainly seen that Jehovah hath been with thee, and we say, `Let there be, we pray thee, an oath between us, between us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;

Они ответили: – Нам теперь ясно, что с тобой Господь, и мы решили, что у нас должно быть клятвенное соглашение, между нами и тобой. Давай заключим союз,

29 d o not evil with us, as we have not touched thee, and as we have only done good with thee, and send thee away in peace; thou now blessed of Jehovah.'

что ты не причинишь нам вреда, как и мы не тронули тебя, но всегда обходились с тобой хорошо и отпустили тебя с миром. А теперь ты благословен Господом.

30 A nd he maketh for them a banquet, and they eat and drink,

Исаак устроил для них пир, и они ели и пили.

31 a nd rise early in the morning, and swear one to another, and Isaac sendeth them away, and they go from him in peace.

На другой день рано утром они дали друг другу клятву; Исаак простился с ними, и они ушли от него с миром.

32 A nd it cometh to pass during that day that Isaac's servants come and declare to him concerning the circumstances of the well which they have digged, and say to him, `We have found water;'

В тот же день слуги Исаака пришли и рассказали ему о колодце, который они выкопали. Они сказали: – Мы нашли воду!

33 a nd he calleth it Shebah, therefore the name of the city Beer-Sheba, unto this day.

Он назвал его Шева, и до сего дня имя этого города – Вирсавия. Жены Исава

34 A nd Esau is a son of forty years, and he taketh a wife, Judith, daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath, daughter of Elon the Hittite,

Когда Исаву было сорок лет, он женился на Иегудифи, дочери хетта Беэра, и на Басемате, дочери хетта Елона;

35 a nd they are a bitterness of spirit to Isaac and to Rebekah.

и от них было много огорчения Исааку и Ревекке.
