1 A nd it cometh to pass, when all the nation hath completed to pass over the Jordan, that Jehovah speaketh unto Joshua, saying,

Когда весь народ переправился через Иордан, Господь сказал Иисусу:

2 ` Take for you out of the people twelve men, one man -- one man out of a tribe;

– Выберите из народа двенадцать человек, по одному из каждого рода,

3 a nd command ye them, saying, Take up for you from this, from the midst of the Jordan, from the established standing-place of the feet of the priests, twelve stones, and ye have removed them over with you, and placed them in the lodging-place in which ye lodge to-night.'

и велите им взять двенадцать камней из середины Иордана, оттуда, где стояли священники, перенести их с собой и положить их там, где вы остановитесь сегодня вечером на ночлег.

4 A nd Joshua calleth unto the twelve men whom he prepared out of the sons of Israel, one man -- one man out of a tribe;

Иисус позвал двенадцать человек, которых он назначил из израильтян, по одному из каждого рода,

5 a nd Joshua saith to them, `Pass over before the ark of Jehovah your God unto the midst of the Jordan and lift up for you each, one stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel,

и сказал им: – Пройдите перед ковчегом Господа, вашего Бога, на середину Иордана. Пусть каждый из вас возьмет на плечи по одному камню, по числу родов израильтян.

6 s o that this is a sign in your midst, when your children ask hereafter, saying, What these stones to you?

Они будут служить вам памятным знаком. В будущем, когда ваши дети спросят вас: «Что значат эти камни?», –

7 t hat ye have said to them, Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off, at the presence of the ark of the covenant of Jehovah; in its passing over into the Jordan were the waters of the Jordan cut off; and these stones have been for a memorial to the sons of Israel -- to the age.'

скажите им, что воды реки иссякли перед ковчегом завета Господа, когда его переправляли через Иордан. Эти камни будут у народа Израиля памятным знаком навеки.

8 A nd the sons of Israel do so as Joshua commanded, and take up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as Jehovah hath spoken unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel, and remove them over with them unto the lodging-place, and place them there,

Израильтяне сделали так, как велел им Иисус. Они взяли из середины Иордана двенадцать камней, по числу родов израильтян, как сказал Иисусу Господь. Они перенесли их с собой в лагерь, где и положили их.

9 e ven the twelve stones hath Joshua raised up out of the midst of the Jordan, the place of the standing of the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant, and they are there unto this day.

(Иисус поставил также двенадцать камней в середине Иордана, где стояли священники, которые несли ковчег завета. Эти камни там и до сих пор.)

10 A nd the priests bearing the ark are standing in the midst of the Jordan till the completion of the whole thing which Jehovah commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua, and the people haste and pass over.

А священники, которые несли ковчег, стояли в середине Иордана, пока не исполнилось все, что Господь повелел Иисусу сказать народу, – как Моисей велел Иисусу. Народ же поспешно переправлялся,

11 A nd it cometh to pass when all the people have completed to pass over, that the ark of Jehovah passeth over, and the priests, in the presence of the people;

и как только все переправились, переправился и ковчег Господа и священники, идущие перед народом.

12 a nd the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, pass over, by fifties, before the sons of Israel, as Moses had spoken unto them;

Вооруженные рувимиты, гадиты и половина рода Манассии переправились перед израильтянами, как велел им раньше Моисей.

13 a bout forty thousand, armed ones of the host, passed over before Jehovah for battle, unto the plains of Jericho.

Около сорока тысяч вооруженных для битвы переправилось перед Господом в долину Иерихона, чтобы воевать.

14 O n that day hath Jehovah made Joshua great in the eyes of all Israel, and they reverence him, as they reverenced Moses, all days of his life.

В тот день Господь возвысил Иисуса в глазах всего Израиля, и они чтили его во все дни его жизни, как чтили Моисея.

15 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Joshua, saying,

И Господь сказал Иисусу:

16 ` Command the priests bearing the ark of the testimony, and they come up out of the Jordan.'

– Вели священникам, которые несут ковчег свидетельства, выйти из Иордана.

17 A nd Joshua commandeth the priests, saying, `Come ye up out of the Jordan.'

Иисус велел священникам: – Выйдите из Иордана.

18 A nd it cometh to pass, in the coming up of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the midst of the Jordan -- the soles of the feet of the priests have been drawn up into the dry ground -- and the waters of the Jordan turn back to their place, and go as heretofore over all its banks.

Когда священники, которые несли ковчег завета Господа, вышли из Иордана и стопы их коснулись суши, вода Иордана вернулась на свое место и потекла, затопляя берега, как прежде.

19 A nd the people have come up out of the Jordan on the tenth of the first month, and encamp in Gilgal, in the extremity east of Jericho;

В десятый день первого месяца народ вышел из Иордана и разбил лагерь в Гилгале на восточной стороне Иерихона.

20 a nd these twelve stones, which they have taken out of the Jordan, hath Joshua raised up in Gilgal.

Иисус поставил в Гилгале двенадцать камней, которые они взяли из Иордана.

21 A nd he speaketh unto the sons of Israel, saying, `When your sons ask their fathers hereafter, saying, What these stones?

Он сказал израильтянам: – В будущем, когда ваши потомки станут спрашивать своих отцов: «Что означают эти камни?»,

22 t hen ye have caused your sons to know, saying, On dry land Israel passed over this Jordan;

скажите им: «Израиль посуху перешел Иордан».

23 b ecause Jehovah your God dried up the waters of the Jordan at your presence, till your passing over, as Jehovah your God did to the Red Sea which He dried up at our presence till our passing over;

Ведь Господь, ваш Бог, осушил перед вами Иордан, пока вы не переправились. Господь, ваш Бог, сделал с Иорданом то же, что Он сделал с Красным морем, когда Он осушил его перед нами, чтобы мы переправились.

24 s o that all the people of the land do know the hand of Jehovah that it strong, so that ye have reverenced Jehovah your God all the days.'

Он сделал это, чтобы все народы земли узнали, что рука Господа сильна, и чтобы вы всегда боялись Господа, вашего Бога.
