1 ` And now, Israel, hearken unto the statutes, and unto the judgments which I am teaching you to do, so that ye live, and have gone in, and possessed the land which Jehovah God of your fathers is giving to you.

Слушай же, Израиль, установления и законы, которым я учу вас. Следуйте им, чтобы жить, чтобы войти и завладеть землей, которую Господь, Бог ваших отцов, дает вам.

2 Y e do not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor diminish from it, to keep the commands of Jehovah your God which I am commanding you.

Не прибавляйте ничего к тому, что я повелеваю вам, и не убавляйте, но исполняйте повеления Господа, вашего Бога, которые я даю вам.

3 ` Your eyes are seeing that which Jehovah hath done in Baal-Peor, for every man who hath gone after Baal-Peor, Jehovah thy God hath destroyed him from thy midst;

Вы своими глазами видели, что Господь сделал в Баал-Пеоре. Господь, ваш Бог, истребил среди вас всех, кто последовал за Баал-Пеором,

4 a nd ye who are cleaving to Jehovah your God, alive, all of you, to-day.

но все те, кто остался верен Господу, вашему Богу, по-прежнему живы и сегодня.

5 ` See, I have taught you statutes and judgments, as Jehovah my God hath commanded me -- to do so, in the midst of the land whither ye are going in to possess it;

Смотрите, я научил вас установлениям и законам, как и повелел мне Господь, мой Бог, чтобы вы следовали им в земле, куда вы вступаете, чтобы завладеть ею.

6 a nd ye have kept and done (for it your wisdom and your understanding) before the eyes of the peoples who hear all these statutes, and they have said, Only, a people wise and understanding this great nation.

Соблюдайте их тщательно, чтобы доказать свою мудрость и рассудительность народам, которые услышат об этих установлениях и скажут: «Конечно, это великий народ, мудрый и разумный».

7 ` For which the great nation that hath God near unto it, as Jehovah our God, in all we have called unto him?

Какой еще народ столь велик, что его боги были близки к нему так, как Господь, наш Бог, близок к нам, когда бы мы ни молились Ему?

8 a nd which the great nation which hath righteous statutes and judgments according to all this law which I am setting before you to-day?

И какой еще народ столь велик, что у него были такие же справедливые установления и законы, как те, которые я даю вам сегодня?

9 ` Only, take heed to thyself, and watch thy soul exceedingly, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they turn aside from thy heart, all days of thy life; and thou hast made them known to thy sons, and to thy sons' sons.

Только будь осторожен и внимательно следи за собой, чтобы не забыть то, что видели твои глаза, и не дать ему ускользнуть из твоего сердца, пока ты жив. Рассказывай об этом своим детям и детям их детей.

10 ` The day when thou hast stood before Jehovah thy God in Horeb -- in Jehovah's saying unto me, Assemble to Me the people, and I cause them to hear My words, so that they learn to fear Me all the days that they are alive on the ground, and their sons they teach; --

Помни тот день, когда ты стоял перед Господом, твоим Богом, у Хорива и когда Он сказал мне: «Собери народ предо Мною, Я возвещу им Свои слова, чтобы они научились чтить Меня всю свою жизнь на земле и научили этому своих детей».

11 a nd ye draw near and stand under the mountain, and the mountain is burning with fire unto the heart of the heavens -- darkness, cloud, yea, thick darkness:

Вы приблизились и встали у подножия горы, которая пылала огнем до самых небес, покрытых черными тучами и кромешной тьмой.

12 ` And Jehovah speaketh unto you out of the midst of the fire; a voice of words ye are hearing and a similitude ye are not seeing, only a voice;

Тогда Господь заговорил с вами из пламени. Вы слышали звук слов, но не видели образа – был только голос.

13 a nd He declareth to you His covenant, which He hath commanded you to do, the Ten Matters, and He writeth them upon two tables of stone.

Он объявил вам Свой завет, десять заповедей, которым Он повелел вам следовать и написал их на двух каменных плитках.

14 ` And me hath Jehovah commanded at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, for your doing them in the land whither ye are passing over to possess it;

В то время Господь повелел мне научить вас установлениям и законам, которым вы должны следовать в земле, куда вы вступаете, чтобы завладеть ею. Запрет идолопоклонства

15 a nd ye have been very watchful of your souls, for ye have not seen any similitude in the day of Jehovah's speaking unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire,

Вы не видели никакого образа в тот день, когда Господь говорил с вами у Хорива из огня. Итак, внимательно следите за собой.

16 l est ye do corruptly, and have made to you a graven image, a similitude of any figure, a form of male or female --

Не развращайтесь и не делайте себе идола, образа в какой-либо форме, изображающего мужчину или женщину,

17 a form of any beast which in the earth -- a form of any winged bird which flieth in the heavens --

или какое-либо животное на земле, птицу, летающую под небесами,

18 a form of any creeping thing on the ground -- a form of any fish which in the waters under the earth;

какое-нибудь пресмыкающееся по земле, или рыбу в водах.

19 ` And lest thou lift up thine eyes towards the heavens, and hast seen the sun, and the moon, and the stars, all the host of the heavens, and thou hast been forced, and hast bowed thyself to them, and served them, which Jehovah thy God hath apportioned to all the peoples under the whole heavens.

А когда ты посмотришь на небо и увидишь солнце, луну и звезды – все небесное многообразие – не соблазняйся: не поклоняйся и не служи тому, что Господь, твой Бог, дал всем народам под небом.

20 ` And you hath Jehovah taken, and He is bringing you out from the iron furnace, from Egypt, to be to Him for a people -- an inheritance, as this day.

Но что до вас – Господь взял вас и вынес из плавильной печи, из Египта, чтобы вы были народом Его наследия, как сейчас.

21 ` And Jehovah hath shewed himself wroth with me because of your words, and sweareth to my not passing over the Jordan, and to my not going in unto the good land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee -- an inheritance;

Господь разгневался на меня из-за вас и поклялся, что я не перейду Иордан и не войду в благодатную землю, которую Господь, ваш Бог, дает вам в наследие.

22 f or I am dying in this land; I am not passing over the Jordan, and ye are passing over, and have possessed this good land.

Я умру в этой земле; я не перейду через Иордан; но вы перейдете и завладеете благодатной землей.

23 ` Take heed to yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of Jehovah your God, which He hath made with you, and have made to yourselves a graven image, a similitude of anything which Jehovah thy God hath charged thee:

Берегитесь, чтобы не забыть завет Господа, вашего Бога, который Он заключил с вами. Не делайте себе идола ни в какой форме, как запретил вам Господь, ваш Бог.

24 f or Jehovah thy God is a fire consuming -- a zealous God.

Ведь Господь, ваш Бог – пожирающий огонь, ревнивый Бог.

25 ` When thou begettest sons and sons' sons, and ye have become old in the land, and have done corruptly, and have made a graven image, a similitude of anything, and have done the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, to provoke Him to anger: --

У вас появятся дети и внуки, вы проживете на земле долгое время, но если потом вы развратитесь и сделаете какого-нибудь идола, совершая зло в глазах Господа, вашего Бога, и вызывая Его гнев –

26 I have caused to testify against you this day the heavens and the earth, that ye do perish utterly hastily from off the land whither ye are passing over the Jordan to possess it; ye do not prolong days upon it, but are utterly destroyed;

я призываю сегодня в свидетели против вас небо и землю, – вы будете скоро истреблены из земли, куда вы переходите через Иордан, чтобы завладеть ею. Вы не долго проживете там, и непременно будете уничтожены.

27 a nd Jehovah hath scattered you among the peoples, and ye have been left few in number among the nations, whither Jehovah leadeth you,

Господь рассеет вас между народами, и лишь немногие выживут среди народов, к которым Господь прогонит вас.

28 a nd ye have served there gods, work of man's hands, wood and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

Там вы будете служить богам, сделанным человеком из дерева и камня, которые не могут ни видеть, ни слышать, ни есть, ни чуять запах.

29 ` And -- ye have sought from thence Jehovah thy God, and hast found, when thou seekest Him with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,

Но там-то вы и начнете искать Господа, вашего Бога, и найдете Его, если будете искать всем сердцем и всей душой.

30 i n distress to thee, and all these things have found thee, in the latter end of the days, and thou hast turned back unto Jehovah thy God, and hast hearkened to His voice;

Когда вас постигнет скорбь и все это случится с вами, вы вернетесь к Господу, вашему Богу, и будете послушны Ему.

31 f or a merciful God Jehovah thy God; He doth not fail thee, nor destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers, which He hath sworn to them.

Ведь Господь, ваш Бог – это милостивый Бог; Он не оставит и не погубит вас, не забудет завета с вашими отцами, который Он скрепил клятвой. Господь – единственный Бог

32 ` For, ask, I pray thee, at the former days which have been before thee, from the day that God prepared man on the earth, and from the end of the heavens even unto the end of the heavens, whether there hath been as this great thing -- or hath been heard like it?

Спроси о прежних днях, которые были задолго до тебя, со дня, когда Бог сотворил на земле человека. Спроси небеса - от края до края. Случалось ли что-нибудь подобное этому великому делу, и разве слышали когда-нибудь о чем-то подобном?

33 H ath a people heard the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, thou -- and doth live?

Разве слышал какой-нибудь другой народ голос Бога, говорящего из огня, как слышал ты, и остался жив?

34 O r hath God tried to go in to take to Himself, a nation from the midst of a nation, by trials, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a strong hand, and by a stretched-out arm, and by great terrors -- according to all that Jehovah your God hath done to you, in Egypt, before your eyes?

Разве когда-нибудь пробовал какой-нибудь бог пойти и взять себе народ из другого народа испытаниями, знамениями и чудесами, войной, могучей дланью и простертой рукой, великими и ужасными подвигами, как сделал для вас Господь, ваш Бог, в Египте у тебя на глазах?

35 T hou, thou hast been shewn, to know that Jehovah He God; there is none else besides Him.

Тебе было явлено это, чтобы ты знал, что Господь есть Бог, и нет другого, кроме Него.

36 ` From the heavens He hath caused thee to hear His voice, to instruct thee, and on earth He hath shewed thee His great fire, and His words thou hast heard out of the midst of the fire.

Он дал тебе услышать Свой голос с неба, чтобы наставить тебя. На земле Он показал тебе Свой великий огонь, и ты слышал Его слова из огня.

37 ` And because that He hath loved thy fathers, He doth also fix on their seed after them, and doth bring thee out, in His presence, by His great power, from Egypt:

Он полюбил твоих отцов и избрал их потомков после них, Он Сам вывел тебя из Египта Своей великой силой,

38 t o dispossess nations greater and stronger than thou, from thy presence, to bring thee in to give to thee their land -- an inheritance, as this day.

чтобы прогнать от тебя народы, которые многочисленнее и сильнее, и привести тебя в их землю, отдав ее тебе в наследие, как это и есть сегодня.

39 ` And thou hast known to-day, and hast turned back unto thy heart, that Jehovah He God, in the heavens above, and on the earth beneath -- there is none else;

Знай ныне и запомни навсегда, что Господь – Бог на небе вверху и на земле внизу, и нет другого.

40 a nd thou hast kept His statutes and His commands which I am commanding thee to-day, so that it is well to thee, and to thy sons after thee, and so that thou prolongest days on the ground which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee -- all the days.'

Исполняй Его установления и повеления, которые я даю тебе сегодня, чтобы с тобой и с твоими детьми все было благополучно, и чтобы ты долго жил на земле, которую Господь, твой Бог, дает тебе навсегда. Города убежища (Чис. 35: 6-34; Втор. 19: 1-14; Нав. 20: 1-9)

41 T hen Moses separateth three cities beyond the Jordan, towards the sun-rising,

Затем Моисей отделил к востоку от Иордана три города,

42 f or the fleeing thither of the man-slayer, who slayeth his neighbour unknowingly, and he is not hating him heretofore, and he hath fled unto one of these cities, and he hath lived:

куда мог убежать всякий, кто убьет человека неумышленно, не питая к убитому ненависти. Он мог убежать в один из этих городов и спасти свою жизнь.

43 B ezer, in the wilderness, in the land of the plain, of the Reubenite; and Ramoth, in Gilead, of the Gadite; and Golan, in Bashan, of the Manassahite.

Вот эти города: Бецер на пустынном плато для рувимитов; Рамот в Галааде для гадитов; Голан в Башане для манасситов. Вступление к Закону

44 A nd this the law which Moses hath set before the sons of Israel;

Вот Закон, который Моисей изложил израильтянам.

45 t hese the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses hath spoken unto the sons of Israel, in their coming out of Egypt,

Вот заповеди, установления и законы, которые Моисей дал им, когда они вышли из Египта

46 b eyond the Jordan, in the valley over-against Beth-Peor, in the land of Sihon, king of the Amorite, who is dwelling in Heshbon, whom Moses and the sons of Israel have smitten, in their coming out of Egypt,

и находились в долине рядом с Бет-Пеором к востоку от Иордана, в земле Сигона, царя аморреев, который правил в Хешбоне и был побежден Моисеем и израильтянами, когда они вышли из Египта.

47 a nd they possess his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorite who beyond the Jordan, the sun-rising;

Они завладели его землей и землей Ога, царя Башана, двух аморрейских царей, к востоку от Иордана.

48 f rom Aroer, which by the edge of the brook Arnon, even unto mount Sion, which Hermon --

Эта земля простиралась от Ароера на берегу потока Арнона до горы Сион (то есть Хермон),

49 a nd all the plain beyond the Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the plain, under the springs of Pisgah.

и включала всю иорданскую долину к востоку от Иордана до Аравского моря, под склонами Фасги.
