1 A nd Joshua gathereth all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and calleth for the elders of Israel, and for its heads, and for its judges, and for its authorities, and they station themselves before God.

Иисус собрал все израильские роды в Шехеме. Он созвал старейшин, вождей, судей и начальников Израиля, и они предстали перед Богом.

2 A nd Joshua saith unto all the people, `Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Beyond the River have your fathers dwelt of old -- Terah father of Abraham and father of Nachor -- and they serve other gods;

Иисус сказал всему народу: – Так говорит Господь, Бог Израиля: «Издревле ваши отцы – Терах, отец Авраама и Нахора – жили за рекой и поклонялись другим богам.

3 a nd I take your father Abraham from beyond the River, and cause him to go through all the land of Canaan, and multiply his seed, and give to him Isaac.

Но Я взял вашего отца Авраама из земли за рекой, водил его по всему Ханаану и дал ему множество потомков. Я дал ему Исаака,

4 A nd I give to Isaac, Jacob and Esau; and I give to Esau mount Seir, to possess it; and Jacob and his sons have gone down to Egypt.

а Исааку дал Иакова и Исава. Исаву Я дал нагорья Сеира, но Иаков со своими сыновьями переселился в Египет.

5 A nd I send Moses and Aaron, and plague Egypt, as I have done in its midst, and afterwards I have brought you out.

Я послал Моисея и Аарона, поразил египтян тем, что Я у них совершил, и вывел вас оттуда.

6 A nd I bring out your fathers from Egypt, and ye go into the sea, and the Egyptians pursue after your fathers, with chariot and with horsemen, to the Red Sea;

Когда Я вывел ваших отцов из Египта, вы пришли к морю. Египтяне гнались за вашими отцами со своими колесницами и всадниками до самого Красного моря.

7 a nd they cry unto Jehovah, and He setteth thick darkness between you and the Egyptians, and bringeth on them the sea, and covereth them, and your eyes see that which I have done in Egypt; and ye dwell in a wilderness many days.

Но они воззвали к Господу о помощи, и Он положил тьму между вами и египтянами. Он навел на них море, и оно покрыло их. Вы своими глазами видели, что Я сделал с египтянами. После этого вы долгое время жили в пустыне.

8 ` And I bring you in unto the land of the Amorite who is dwelling beyond the Jordan, and they fight with you, and I give them into your hand, and ye possess their land, and I destroy them out of your presence.

Я привел вас в землю аморреев, которые жили к востоку от Иордана. Они воевали с вами, но Я отдал их в ваши руки. Я истребил их перед вами, и вы завладели их землей.

9 ` And Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, riseth and fighteth against Israel, and sendeth and calleth for Balaam son of Beor, to revile you,

Когда Валак, сын Циппора, царь Моава, готовился к войне с Израилем, он послал за Валаамом, сыном Беора, чтобы он проклял вас.

10 a nd I have not been willing to hearken to Balaam, and he doth greatly bless you, and I deliver you out of his hand.

Но Мне не было угодно послушать Валаама, и он благословлял вас снова и снова, и Я избавил вас от его рук.

11 ` And ye pass over the Jordan, and come in unto Jericho, and fight against you do the possessors of Jericho -- the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Girgashite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite -- and I give them into your hand.

Вы переправились через Иордан и пришли к Иерихону. Жители Иерихона воевали с вами, как воевали и аморреи, ферезеи, хананеи, хетты, гергесеи, хивеи и иевусеи, но Я отдал их в ваши руки.

12 A nd I send before you the hornet, and it casteth them out from your presence -- two kings of the Amorite -- not by thy sword, nor by thy bow.

Я послал перед вами шершней, которые прогнали от вас двух аморрейских царей. Не мечом твоим и не луком сделал ты это.

13 ` And I give to you a land for which thou hast not laboured, and cities which ye have not built, and ye dwell in them; of vineyards and olive-yards which ye have not planted ye are eating.

Так Я дал вам землю, над которой ты не трудился, и города, которых вы не строили; и вы живете в них и едите плоды виноградников и оливковых рощ, которых вы не сажали».

14 ` And now, fear ye Jehovah, and serve Him, in perfection and in truth, and turn aside the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt, and serve ye Jehovah;

Итак, чтите Господа и служите Ему искренне и верно. Отриньте богов, которым поклонялись ваши отцы за рекой и в Египте, и служите Господу.

15 a nd if wrong in your eyes to serve Jehovah -- choose for you to-day whom ye do serve; -- whether the gods whom your fathers served, which beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorite in whose land ye are dwelling; and I and my house -- we serve Jehovah.'

Но если вы не желаете служить Господу, то выберите сегодня, кому вы будете служить: богам ли, которым служили за рекой ваши отцы, или богам аморреев, в земле которых вы живете; а я и дом мой будем служить Господу.

16 A nd the people answer and say, `Far be it from us to forsake Jehovah, to serve other gods;

И народ отвечал: – Да не будет с нами того, чтобы нам оставить Господа и служить другим богам!

17 f or Jehovah our God He who is bringing us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants, and who hath done before our eyes these great signs, and doth keep us in all the way in which we have gone, and among all the peoples through whose midst we passed;

Это Господь, наш Бог, Сам вывел нас и наших отцов из Египта, из земли рабства, и совершил у нас на глазах эти великие знамения. Он охранял нас на всем нашем пути и среди всех народов, через которые мы шли.

18 a nd Jehovah casteth out the whole of the peoples, even the Amorite inhabiting the land, from our presence; we also do serve Jehovah, for He our God.'

Господь прогнал от нас все народы и аморреев, которые жили в этой земле. Мы тоже будем служить Господу, потому что Он – наш Бог.

19 A nd Joshua saith unto the people, `Ye are not able to serve Jehovah, for a God most holy He; a zealous God He; He doth not bear with your transgression and with your sins.

Иисус сказал народу: – Вы не сможете служить Господу. Он святой Бог! Он ревнивый Бог! Он не простит вам вашего отступничества и ваших грехов.

20 W hen ye forsake Jehovah, and have served gods of a stranger, then He hath turned back and done evil to you, and consumed you, after that He hath done good to you.'

Если вы оставите Господа, делавшего вам добро, и станете служить чужим богам, Он обратится против вас, наведет на вас беду и истребит вас.

21 A nd the people saith unto Joshua, `No, but Jehovah we do serve.'

Но народ сказал Иисусу: – Нет! Мы будем служить Господу!

22 A nd Joshua saith unto the people, `Witnesses ye are against yourselves, that ye have chosen for you Jehovah to serve Him (and they say, `Witnesses!')

Иисус сказал: – Вы сами стали свидетелями против себя, выбрав служение Господу. – Да, мы свидетели, – ответили они.

23 a nd, now, turn aside the gods of the stranger which in your midst, and incline your heart unto Jehovah, God of Israel.'

– Тогда, – сказал Иисус, – отриньте чужих богов, которые у вас есть, и обратите свои сердца к Господу, Богу Израиля.

24 A nd the people say unto Joshua, `Jehovah our God we serve, and to His voice we hearken.'

И народ сказал Иисусу: – Мы будем служить Господу, нашему Богу, и слушаться Его.

25 A nd Joshua maketh a covenant with the people on that day, and layeth on it a statute and an ordinance, in Shechem.

В тот день от лица народа Иисус заключил с Господом завет, и там, в Шехеме, он дал народу установления и законы.

26 A nd Joshua writeth these words in the Book of the Law of God, and taketh a great stone, and raiseth it up there under the oak which in the sanctuary of Jehovah.

Иисус записал эти слова в книгу Божьего Закона. Затем он взял большой камень и поставил его там под дубом, возле святилища Господа.

27 A nd Joshua saith unto all the people, `Lo, this stone is against us for a witness, for it hath heard all the sayings of Jehovah which He hath spoken with us, and it hath been against you for a witness, lest ye lie against your God.'

– Смотрите! – сказал он всему народу. – Этот камень будет свидетелем против нас, потому что он слышал все слова, которые сказал нам Господь. Он будет свидетелем против вас, если вы солжете вашему Богу. Смерть и погребение Иисуса в обетованной земле

28 A nd Joshua sendeth the people away, each to his inheritance.

Иисус отпустил народ, каждого в его удел.

29 A nd it cometh to pass, after these things, that Joshua son of Nun, servant of Jehovah, dieth, a son of a hundred and ten years,

После этого Иисус, сын Навина, слуга Господа, умер в возрасте ста десяти лет.

30 a nd they bury him in the border of his inheritance, in Timnath-Serah, which in the hill-country of Ephraim, on the north of the hill of Gaash.

Его похоронили в земле его удела, в Тимнат-Серахе, в нагорьях Ефрема к северу от горы Гааш.

31 A nd Israel serveth Jehovah all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who prolonged days after Joshua, and who knew all the work of Jehovah which He did to Israel.

Израиль служил Господу во все время жизни Иисуса и старейшин, которые пережили его, и которым довелось увидеть все, что сделал для Израиля Господь.

32 A nd the bones of Joseph, which the sons of Israel brought up out of Egypt, they buried in Shechem, in the portion of the field which Jacob bought from the sons of Hamor father of Shechem, with a hundred kesitah; and they are to the sons of Joseph for an inheritance.

А кости Иосифа, которые израильтяне вынесли из Египта, были захоронены в Шехеме на участке земли, что Иаков купил за сто кесит серебра у сыновей Еммора, отца Шехема. Он вошел в удел потомков Иосифа.

33 A nd Eleazar son of Aaron died, and they bury him in the hill of Phinehas his son, which was given to him in the hill-country of Ephraim.

Элеазар, сын Аарона, умер и был похоронен в Гиве, который достался его сыну Пинехасу, в нагорьях Ефрема.
