1 A fter these things and this truth, come hath Sennacherib king of Asshur, yea, he cometh in to Judah, and encampeth against the cities of the bulwarks, and saith to rend them unto himself.

После всего, что с такой верностью совершил Езекия, пришел царь Ассирии Синаххериб и вторгся в Иудею. Он взял в осаду укрепленные города, думая отобрать их.

2 A nd Hezekiah seeth that Sennacherib hath come, and his face to the battle against Jerusalem,

Когда Езекия увидел, что Синаххериб пришел и хочет воевать с Иерусалимом,

3 a nd he taketh counsel with his heads and his mighty ones, to stop the waters of the fountains that at the outside of the city -- and they help him,

он решил на совете со своими приближенными и военачальниками засыпать источники воды за пределами города, и те помогли ему.

4 a nd much people are gathered, and they stop all the fountains and the brook that is rushing into the midst of the land, saying, `Why do the kings of Asshur come, and have found much water?'

Собралось множество народа и засыпали источники воды и поток, который протекал по стране. «К чему оставлять эту воду царям Ассирии?» – говорили они.

5 A nd he strengtheneth himself, and buildeth the whole of the wall that is broken, and causeth to ascend unto the towers, and at the outside of the wall another, and strengtheneth Millo, the city of David, and maketh darts in abundance, and shields.

Езекия много трудился, восстанавливая все разрушенные участки стены и воздвигая на ней башни. Он сложил еще одну стену за пределами прежней и улучшил Милло города Давида. Еще он изготовил много оружия и щитов.

6 A nd he putteth heads of war over the people, and gathereth them unto him, unto the broad place of a gate of the city, and speaketh unto their heart, saying,

Он поставил над народом военачальников, собрал их к себе на площади у городских ворот и ободрил их, сказав:

7 ` Be strong and courageous, be not afraid, nor be cast down from the face of the king of Asshur, and from the face of all the multitude that with him, for with us more than with him.

– Будьте тверды и мужественны. Не бойтесь, не падайте духом из-за царя Ассирии и огромного войска с ним, потому что с нами большая сила, чем с ним.

8 W ith him an arm of flesh, and with us Jehovah our God, to help us, and to fight our battles;' and the people are supported by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

С ним – мышца из плоти, а с нами – Господь, наш Бог, Который поможет нам и будет за нас сражаться. И народ ободрился словами Езекии, царя Иудеи.

9 A fter this hath Sennacherib king of Asshur sent his servants to Jerusalem -- and he by Lachish, and all his power with him -- against Hezekiah king of Judah, and against all Judah, who in Jerusalem, saying,

После этого, когда Синаххериб, царь Ассирии, и все его войска осаждали Лахиш, он послал своих слуг в Иерусалим, чтобы передать Езекии, царю Иудеи, и всему собравшемуся там народу Иудеи:

10 ` Thus said Sennacherib king of Asshur, On what are ye trusting and abiding in the bulwark, in Jerusalem?

«Так говорит Синаххериб, царь Ассирии: На что вы так надеетесь, что остаетесь в осажденном Иерусалиме?

11 ` Is not Hezekiah persuading you, to give you up to die by famine, and by thirst, saying, Jehovah our God doth deliver us from the hand of the king of Asshur?

Когда Езекия говорит: “Господь, наш Бог, спасет нас от руки царя Ассирии“, – он сбивает вас с пути, чтобы вы умерли от голода и жажды.

12 H ath not Hezekiah himself turned aside His high places, and His altars, and speaketh to Judah and to Jerusalem, saying, Before one altar ye bow yourselves, and on it ye make perfume?

Разве не сам Езекия убрал святилища на возвышенностях и жертвенники этого Бога, говоря Иудее и Иерусалиму: “Поклоняйтесь перед одним жертвенником и на нем сжигайте жертвы”?

13 ` Do ye not know what I have done -- I and my fathers -- to all peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands at all able to deliver their land out of my hand?

Разве вы не знаете, что я и мои предки сделали со всеми народами других земель? Разве в силах были боги этих народов избавить свою землю от моей руки?

14 W ho among all the gods of these nations whom my fathers have devoted to destruction he who hath been able to deliver his people out of my hand, that your God is able to deliver you out of my hand?

Кто из богов всех этих народов, которые были погублены моими предками, смог избавить от меня свой народ? Как же ваш Бог сможет избавить вас от моей руки?

15 ` And, now, let not Hezekiah lift you up, nor persuade you thus, nor give credence to him, for no god of any nation and kingdom is able to deliver his people from my hand, and from the hand of my fathers: also, surely your God doth not deliver you from my hand!'

Не давайте же Езекии обманывать вас этим и сбивать с пути. Не верьте ему, потому что никакой бог ни у одного из народов или царств не мог избавить свой народ от моей руки или от рук моих предков. И куда уж вашему Богу избавить вас от моей руки!»

16 A nd again have his servants spoken against Jehovah God, and against Hezekiah His servant,

Слуги царя Синаххериба говорили еще больше против Господа Бога и против Его слуги Езекии.

17 a nd letters he hath written to give reproach to Jehovah, God of Israel, and to speak against Him, saying, `As the gods of the nations of the lands that have not delivered their people from my hand, so the God of Hezekiah doth not deliver His people from my hand.'

Синаххериб также написал письма, осыпая бранью Господа, Бога Израиля, и говоря против Него: «Как боги народов других земель не избавили своих народов от моей руки, так и Бог Езекии не избавит Своего народа от моей руки».

18 A nd they call with a great voice Jewish, against the people of Jerusalem who on the wall, to frighten them, and to trouble them, that they may capture the city,

Они кричали по-еврейски жителям Иерусалима, которые были на стене, чтобы устрашить и запугать их и захватить город.

19 a nd they speak against the God of Jerusalem as against the gods of the peoples of the land -- work of the hands of man.

Они говорили о Боге Иерусалима, как о богах других народов земли – творениях человеческих рук.

20 A nd Hezekiah the king prayeth, and Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet, concerning this, and they cry to the heavens,

Царь Езекия и пророк Исаия, сын Амоца, воззвали в молитве к небесам,

21 a nd Jehovah sendeth a messenger, and cutteth off every mighty one of valour -- both leader and head -- in the camp of the king of Asshur, and he turneth back with shame of face to his land, and entereth the house of his god, and those coming out of his bowels have caused him to fall there by the sword.

и Господь послал Ангела, Который истребил всех храбрых воинов, вождей и полководцев в лагере ассирийского царя, и Синаххериб с позором удалился в свою землю. Однажды, когда он пошел в храм своего бога, его сыновья поразили его мечом.

22 A nd Jehovah saveth Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib king of Asshur, and from the hand of all, and He leadeth them round about;

Так Господь спас Езекию и жителей Иерусалима от руки царя Ассирии Синаххериба и от рук всех остальных. Он даровал им покой со всех сторон.

23 a nd many are bringing in an offering to Jehovah, to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, and he is lifted up before the eyes of all the nations after this.

Многие принесли в Иерусалим приношения Господу и дорогие подарки Езекии, царю Иудеи. С тех пор он был в большом почете у всех народов. Конец правления Езекии (4 Цар. 20: 1-19; Ис. 38: 1-8; 39: 1-8)

24 I n those days hath Hezekiah been sick even unto death, and he prayeth unto Jehovah, and He speaketh to him, and a wonder hath appointed for him;

В те дни Езекия заболел и был при смерти. Он помолился Господу, и Тот ответил ему и дал ему знамение.

25 a nd Hezekiah hath not returned according to the deed unto him, for his heart hath been lofty, and there is wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem;

Но сердце Езекии возгордилось, и он не отозвался на оказанную ему милость. За это на нем и на Иудее с Иерусалимом был Господень гнев.

26 a nd Hezekiah is humbled for the loftiness of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the wrath of Jehovah hath not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

Тогда Езекия раскаялся в гордыне своего сердца, как и жители Иерусалима. За это Господень гнев не обрушился на них в дни Езекии.

27 A nd Hezekiah hath riches and honour very much, and treasures he hath made to himself of silver, and of gold, and of precious stone, and of spices, and of shields, and of all of desirable vessels,

Езекия был очень богат и прославлен. Он сделал сокровищницы для своего серебра и золота, для своих драгоценных камней, благовоний, щитов и всякого рода дорогих вещей.

28 a nd storehouses for the increase of corn, and new wine, and oil, and stalls for all kinds of cattle, and herds for stalls;

Еще он построил кладовые для урожаев зерна, для молодого вина и оливкового масла и сделал стойла и загоны для различного скота.

29 a nd cities he hath made for himself, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance, for God hath given to him very much substance.

Он строил поселения и приобретал многочисленные отары и стада, потому что Бог даровал ему огромное богатство.

30 A nd Hezekiah himself hath stopped the upper source of the waters of Gihon, and directeth them beneath to the west of the city of David, and Hezekiah prospereth in all his work;

Это Езекия засыпал верхний проток источника Гихон и отвел воду вниз к западной стороне Города Давида. Он преуспевал во всем, что делал.

31 a nd so with the ambassadors of the heads of Babylon, those sending unto him to inquire of the wonder that hath been in the land, God hath left him to try him, to know all in his heart,

Однажды, когда правители Вавилона отправили послов, чтобы спросить его о знамении, которое совершилось в стране, Бог оставил его наедине с самим собой, чтобы испытать его и узнать все, что у него на сердце. Смерть Езекии (4 Цар. 20: 20-21)

32 A nd the rest of the matters of Hezekiah, and his kind acts, lo, they are written in the vision of Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet, on the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

Прочие события правления Езекии и его добрые дела записаны в видении пророка Исаии, сына Амоца, которые включены в «Книге царей Иудеи и Израиля».

33 A nd Hezekiah lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the uppermost of the graves of the sons of David, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem have done honour to him at his death, and reign doth Manasseh his son in his stead.

Езекия упокоился со своими предками и был похоронен на возвышенности, там, где могилы потомков Давида. Вся Иудея и все жители Иерусалима почтили его, когда он умер. Манассия, его сын, стал царем вместо него.
