1 I n the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a thing is revealed to Daniel, whose name is called Belteshazzar, and the thing true, and the warfare great: and he hath understood the thing, and hath understanding about the appearance.

На третий год правления Кира, царя Персии, Даниилу (называемому также Белтешаццаром) было дано откровение. Его весть истинна и относится к великой войне. Понимание вести было дано ему в видении.

2 ` In those days, I, Daniel, have been mourning three weeks of days;

В то время я, Даниил, скорбел в течение трех недель.

3 d esirable bread I have not eaten, and flesh and wine hath not come in unto my mouth, and I have not anointed myself at all, till the completion of three weeks of days.

Я не ел вкусной пищи, мясо и вино не касались моих губ, и я не умащался благовонными маслами, пока не прошли три недели.

4 ` And in the twenty and fourth day of the first month, I have been by the side of the great river, that Hiddekel:

На двадцать четвертый день первого месяца, когда я стоял на берегу великой реки Тигра,

5 a nd I lift up mine eyes, and look, and lo, a certain one clothed in linen, and his loins girt with pure gold of Uphaz,

я поднял глаза и увидел: стоит некто в льняных одеждах и с поясом из самого лучшего золота.

6 a nd his body as a beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet as the aspect of bright brass, and the voice of his words as the voice of a multitude.

Его тело было как хризолит, лицо – как молния, глаза – как пламенеющие факелы, руки и ноги – как отполированная бронза, а голос – как шум от множества людей.

7 ` And I have seen -- I, Daniel, by myself -- the appearance: and the men who have been with me have not seen the appearance, but a great trembling hath fallen on them, and they flee to be hidden;

Я, Даниил, был единственным, кто видел это видение; люди, бывшие со мной, не видели его, но их охватил такой ужас, что они убежали и попрятались.

8 a nd I have been left by myself, and I see this great appearance, and there hath been no power left in me, and my honour hath been turned in me to corruption, yea, I have not retained power.

Я остался один и смотрел на это великое видение. Во мне не осталось сил, мое лицо смертельно побледнело, и я ослабел.

9 ` And I hear the voice of his words, and when I hear the voice of his words, then I have been in a trance on my face, and my face to the earth;

Затем я услышал, как он говорит, и слушая его, упал ничком в глубокий обморок.

10 a nd lo, a hand hath come against me, and shaketh me on my knees and the palms of my hands.

Но рука прикоснулась ко мне и поставила меня, дрожащего, на мои колени и на руки.

11 ` And he saith unto me: Daniel, man greatly desired, attend to the words that I am speaking unto thee, and stand on thy station, for now I have been sent unto thee. `And when he speaketh with me this word, I have stood trembling.

Он сказал: – Даниил, ты, кто крепко любим, вникни в слова, которые я тебе скажу, и встань, потому что я послан сейчас к тебе. Когда он сказал мне это, я, дрожа, встал.

12 A nd he saith unto me: Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that thou didst give thy heart to understand, and to humble thyself before thy God, thy words have been heard, and I have come because of thy words.

Тогда он продолжил: – Не бойся, Даниил. С самого первого дня, когда ты решил обрести понимание и смирить себя перед твоим Богом, твои слова были услышаны, и по твоим словам пришел я.

13 ` And the head of the kingdom of Persia is standing over-against me twenty and one days, and lo, Michael, first of the chief heads, hath come in to help me, and I have remained there near the kings of Persia;

Но князь Персидского царства противостоял мне двадцать один день, и Михаил, один из великих князей, пришел мне на помощь; я оставался там с царями Персии.

14 a nd I have come to cause thee to understand that which doth happen to thy people in the latter end of the days, for yet the vision after days.

А теперь я пришел, чтобы объяснить тебе то, что произойдет с твоим народом в будущем, потому что видение относится ко времени, которое еще лишь грядет.

15 ` And when he speaketh with me about these things, I have set my face toward the earth, and have been silent;

Когда он говорил мне это, я припал лицом к земле и был безмолвен.

16 a nd lo, as the manner of the sons of men, he is striking against my lips, and I open my mouth, and I speak, and say unto him who is standing over-against me: My lord, by the appearance turned have been my pangs against me, and I have retained no power.

Тогда тот, кто выглядел, как человек, прикоснулся к моим губам, и я открыл рот и начал говорить. Я сказал тому, кто стоял передо мной: – Мой господин, от этого видения меня охватила такая скорбь, что во мне не осталось сил.

17 A nd how is the servant of this my lord able to speak with this my lord? as for me, henceforth there remaineth in me no power, yea, breath hath not been left in me.

Как же мне, твоему слуге, говорить с тобой, мой господин? Во мне нет сил, и я едва дышу.

18 ` And he addeth, and striketh against me, as the appearance of a man, and strengtheneth me,

И снова тот, кто был похож на человека, прикоснулся ко мне и придал мне сил.

19 a nd he saith: Do not fear, O man greatly desired, peace to thee, be strong, yea, be strong; and when he speaketh with me, I have strengthened myself, and I say, Let my lord speak, for thou hast strengthened me.

– Не бойся, тот, кто крепко любим, – сказал он. – Мир тебе! Мужайся, мужайся! Когда он говорил со мной, я укрепился и сказал: – Говори, мой господин, потому что ты придал мне сил.

20 A nd he saith, Hast thou known why I have come unto thee? and now I turn back to fight with the head of Persia; yea, I am going forth, and lo, the head of Javan hath come;

И он сказал: – Знаешь, почему я пришел к тебе? Скоро я возвращусь, чтобы воевать с князем Персии, и когда я возьму над ним верх, придет князь Греции.

21 b ut I declare to thee that which is noted down in the Writing of Truth, and there is not one strengthening himself with me, concerning these, except Michael your head.

Но сначала я скажу тебе то, что написано в книге Истины. (Никто не поддерживает меня против них, кроме Михаила, вашего князя.
