1 A nd Jehovah saith unto me: Though Moses and Samuel should stand before Me, My soul is not toward this people, Send from before My face, and they go out.

Господь сказал мне: – Даже если бы встали предо Мной Моисей и Самуил, Мое сердце не обратилось бы к этому народу. Гони его от Меня прочь, пусть уходит!

2 A nd it hath come to pass, when they say to thee, Whither do we go out? that thou hast said unto them, Thus said Jehovah: Those who for death -- to death, And those who are for the sword, to the sword, And those who are for famine, to famine, And those who are for captivity, to captivity.

А если станут спрашивать тебя эти люди: «Куда нам идти?» – скажи им: «Так говорит Господь: Обреченные на смерть – пусть умирают; обреченные на меч – пусть идут под меч; обреченные на голод – пусть голодают; обреченные на плен – пусть уходят в плен».

3 A nd I have appointed over them four kinds, an affirmation of Jehovah, The sword to slay, and the dogs to drag, And the fowl of the heavens, And the beast of the earth, to consume and to devour.

– Я нашлю на них четыре вида казней, – возвещает Господь, – меч, чтобы убивать, псов, чтобы терзать, и птиц небесных со зверями земными, чтобы пожирать и губить.

4 A nd I have given them for a trembling To all kingdoms of the earth, Because of Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah, For that which he did in Jerusalem.

Я сделаю их ужасом для всех царств на земле из-за того, что натворил в Иерусалиме иудейский царь Манассия, сын Езекии.

5 F or who hath pity on thee, O Jerusalem? And who doth bemoan for thee? And who turneth aside to ask of thy welfare?

– Кто пожалеет тебя, Иерусалим? Кто оплачет тебя? Кто зайдет, чтобы узнать о твоих делах?

6 T hou -- thou hast left Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah, Backward thou goest, And I stretch out My hand against thee, And I destroy thee, I have been weary of repenting,

Ты отверг Меня, – возвещает Господь, – отступил назад. Свою руку на тебя подниму и погублю тебя: Я устал жалеть.

7 A nd I scatter them with a fan, in the gates the land, I bereaved, I have destroyed My people, From their ways they turned not back.

Я провею их вилами у ворот городов страны; Я лишу их детей и погублю Мой народ, так как он не свернул с путей своих.

8 I ts widows have been more to Me than the sand of the seas, I brought in to them -- against the mother -- A young man -- a spoiler -- at noon. I caused to fall upon her suddenly, wrath and trouble.

Вдов у них станет больше, чем песка в море. В полдень Я наведу губителя на матерей их юношей; внезапно вселю в них страх и смятение.

9 L anguished hath the bearer of seven, She hath breathed out her spirit, Gone in hath her sun while yet day, It hath been ashamed and confounded, And their residue to the sword I give up before their enemies, An affirmation of Jehovah.

Изнеможет родившая семерых и испустит дух. Зайдет ее солнце во время дневное; она будет унижена и опозорена. А всех уцелевших предам мечу на глазах их врагов, – возвещает Господь. Жалоба Иеремии и ответ Господа

10 W o to me, my mother, For thou hast borne me a man of strife, And a man of contention to all the land, I have not lent on usury, Nor have they lent on usury to me -- All of them are reviling me.

– Горе мне, мать моя, что ты родила меня, человека, что спорит и ссорится с целым светом. Я не давал денег в рост и в долг не брал, но всякий меня проклинает.

11 J ehovah said, Did I not direct thee for good? Did not I intercede for thee in a time of evil, And in a time of adversity, with the enemy?

Сказал Господь: – Я непременно дам свободу тебе во благо, Я непременно заставлю врагов молить тебя во время беды и во время скорби.

12 D oth one break iron -- northern iron, and brass?

Может ли кто-нибудь сломать железо, железо с севера, или бронзу?

13 T hy strength and thy treasures For a prey I do give -- not for price, Even for all thy sins, and in all thy borders.

Ваши богатства и сокровища Я отдам на разграбление, отдам бесплатно за все ваши грехи, совершенные по всей вашей стране.

14 A nd I have caused thine enemies To pass over into the land -- Thou hast not known, For a fire hath been kindled in Mine anger, Against you it doth burn.

Я отдам вас в рабство вашим врагам в страну, что вам незнакома, так как вспыхнул огонь Моего гнева – он будет пылать против вас.

15 T hou, Thou hast known, O Jehovah, Remember me, and inspect me, And take vengeance for me of my pursuers, In Thy long-suffering take me not away, Know -- I have borne for Thee reproach.

– Господи, Ты все знаешь; вспомни меня, обрати на меня Свой взор! Отомсти за меня гонителям. Ты терпелив, не забирай меня; Ты знаешь, что ради Тебя я выношу насмешки.

16 T hy words have been found, and I eat them, And Thy word is to me for a joy, And for the rejoicing of my heart, For Thy name is called on me, O Jehovah, God of Hosts.

Твои слова были найдены, и я съел их; Твои слова стали моей радостью и весельем моему сердцу, ведь Твоим Именем я наречен, Господи, Бог Сил.

17 I have not sat in an assembly of deriders, Nor do I exult, because of thy hand, -- Alone I have sat, For indignation Thou hast filled me.

Не сидел я в кругу насмешников и не праздновал с ними; я сидел одиноко под гнетом Твоей руки, так как Ты наполнил меня гневом.

18 W hy hath my pain been perpetual? And my wound incurable? It hath refused to be healed, Thou art surely to me as a failing stream, Waters not stedfast.

Почему моя боль никак не уймется, почему моя рана тяжка и неисцелима? Неужели будешь Ты для меня ручьем ненадежным, источником пересохшим?

19 T herefore, thus said Jehovah: If thou turnest back, then I bring thee back, Before Me thou dost stand, And if thou bringest out the precious from the vile, As My mouth thou art! They -- they turn back unto thee, And thou dost not turn back unto them.

Так говорит Господь: – Если покаешься, Я восставлю тебя, и сделаю тебя Своим слугой; если будешь говорить важное, а не пустословить, станешь Моими устами. Пусть они сами к тебе обращаются, а ты к ним не обращайся.

20 A nd I have made thee to this people For a wall -- brazen -- fenced, And they have fought against thee, And they do not prevail against thee, For with thee I to save thee, And to deliver thee -- an affirmation of Jehovah,

Я сделаю тебя для этого народа укрепленной стеной из бронзы; они будут с тобой воевать, но не одолеют, потому что Я с тобой, чтобы избавлять тебя и спасать, – возвещает Господь. –

21 A nd I have delivered thee from the hand of evil doers, And I have ransomed thee From the hand of the terrible!

Я спасу тебя от рук нечестивых и выкуплю из рук безжалостных.
