1 A nd they journey from Elim, and all the company of the sons of Israel come in unto the wilderness of Sin, which between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month of their going out from the land of Egypt.

Народ Израиля тронулся в путь из Елима, и на пятнадцатый день второго месяца после ухода из Египта пришел в пустыню Син, что между Елимом и Синаем.

2 A nd all the company of the sons of Israel murmur against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;

В пустыне народ стал роптать на Моисея и Аарона.

3 a nd the sons of Israel say unto them, `Oh that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, in our sitting by the flesh-pot, in our eating bread to satiety -- for ye have brought us out unto this wilderness to put all this assembly to death with hunger.'

Израильтяне говорили им: – Лучше бы нам было умереть в Египте от руки Господа! Там мы сидели у котлов с мясом и ели хлеб досыта. А вы вывели нас в пустыню, чтобы весь народ уморить голодом.

4 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, I am raining to you bread from the heavens -- and the people have gone out and gathered the matter of a day in its day -- so that I try them whether they walk in My law, or not;

Господь сказал Моисею: – Я осыплю вас хлебом с неба. Пусть народ выходит каждый день и собирает, сколько нужно на день. Так Я испытаю их, будут ли они следовать Моим наставлениям.

5 a nd it hath been on the sixth day, that they have prepared that which they bring in, and it hath been double above that which they gather day day.'

На шестой день пусть они соберут вдвое больше, чем в прочие дни, и заготовят это впрок.

6 A nd Moses saith -- Aaron also -- unto all the sons of Israel, `Evening -- and ye have known that Jehovah hath brought you out from the land of Egypt;

Моисей и Аарон сказали израильтянам: – Вечером вы узнаете, что из Египта вас вывел Господь,

7 a nd morning -- and ye have seen the honour of Jehovah, in His hearing your murmurings against Jehovah, and what we, that ye murmur against us?'

а утром увидите славу Господа, потому что Он услышал ваш ропот на Него. Кто мы такие, чтобы вам роптать на нас?

8 A nd Moses saith, `In Jehovah's giving to you in the evening flesh to eat, and bread in the morning to satiety -- in Jehovah's hearing your murmurings, which ye are murmuring against Him, and what we? your murmurings not against us, but against Jehovah.'

Еще Моисей сказал: – Вот как вы узнаете, что это был Господь: этим вечером Он накормит вас мясом, а утром даст вам вдоволь хлеба. Он услышал ваш ропот на Него. Кто мы такие? Вы ропщете не на нас, а на Господа.

9 A nd Moses saith unto Aaron, `Say unto all the company of the sons of Israel, Come ye near before Jehovah, for He hath heard your murmurings;'

Моисей сказал Аарону: – Скажи обществу израильскому: «Предстаньте пред Господом, потому что Он услышал ваш ропот».

10 a nd it cometh to pass, when Aaron is speaking unto all the company of the sons of Israel, that they turn towards the wilderness, and lo, the honour of Jehovah is seen in the cloud.

Когда Аарон говорил с народом израильским, они повернулись к пустыне и увидели, как слава Господа явилась в облаке.

11 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

Господь сказал Моисею:

12 ` I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel; speak unto them, saying, Between the evenings ye eat flesh, and in the morning ye are satisfied bread, and ye have known that I Jehovah your God.'

– Я услышал ропот израильтян. Скажи им: «К сумеркам вы будете есть мясо, а утром наедитесь хлеба. Тогда вы узнаете, что Я – Господь, ваш Бог».

13 A nd it cometh to pass in the evening, that the quail cometh up, and covereth the camp, and in the morning there hath been the lying of dew round about the camp,

В тот же вечер налетели перепела и накрыли лагерь, а утром вокруг лагеря легла роса.

14 a nd the lying of the dew goeth up, and lo, on the face of the wilderness a thin, bare thing, thin as hoar-frost on the earth.

Когда роса сошла, на поверхности пустыни показались тонкие хлопья, похожие на иней.

15 A nd the sons of Israel see, and say one unto another, `What it?' for they have not known what it; and Moses saith unto them, `It the bread which Jehovah hath given to you for food.

Увидев их, израильтяне говорили друг другу: – Что это? Они не знали, что это такое. Моисей сказал им: – Это хлеб, который Господь дал вам в пищу.

16 ` This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Gather of it each according to his eating, an omer for a poll; and the number of your persons, take ye each for those in his tent.'

Господь повелел: «Пусть каждый собирает, сколько ему нужно. Берите по омеру на каждого члена семьи».

17 A nd the sons of Israel do so, and they gather, he who is much, and he who is little;

Израильтяне сделали так, как им сказали. Одни собрали больше, другие – меньше.

18 a nd they measure with an omer, and he who is much hath nothing over, and he who is little hath no lack, each according to his eating they have gathered.

Но когда они измерили омером, то у того, кто собрал много, не было излишка, и у того, кто собрал мало, не было недостатка. Каждый собрал столько, сколько ему было нужно.

19 A nd Moses saith unto them, `Let no man leave of it till morning;'

Моисей сказал им: – Пусть никто ничего не оставляет до утра.

20 a nd they have not hearkened unto Moses, and some of them do leave of it till morning, and it bringeth up worms and stinketh; and Moses is wroth with them.

Но некоторые не послушали Моисея и оставили часть до утра. В пище завелись черви, и она стала зловонной. Моисей разгневался на них.

21 A nd they gather it morning by morning, each according to his eating; when the sun hath been warm, then it hath melted.

Утром каждый собирал, сколько ему было нужно, а когда пригревало солнце, оно таяло.

22 A nd it cometh to pass on the sixth day, they have gathered a second bread, two omers for one, and all the princes of the company come in, and declare to Moses.

На шестой день они собрали в два раза больше – по два омера на человека – и вожди народа пришли и доложили об этом Моисею.

23 A nd he saith unto them, `It that which Jehovah hath spoken; a rest -- a holy sabbath to Jehovah -- to-morrow; that which ye bake, bake; and that which ye boil, boil; and all that is over, let rest for yourselves in charge till the morning.'

Он сказал им: – Господь повелел: «Завтра – день покоя, святая суббота Господа. Испеките сейчас то, что хотите испечь, и сварите то, что хотите сварить. То, что останется, нужно отложить и сохранить до утра».

24 A nd they let it rest until the morning, as Moses hath commanded, and it hath not stank, and a worm hath not been in it.

Они сохранили это до утра, как повелел Моисей, и оно не начало портиться, и черви в нем не завелись.

25 A nd Moses saith, `Eat it to-day, for to-day a sabbath to Jehovah; to-day ye find it not in the field:

– Ешьте это сегодня, – сказал Моисей, – потому что сегодня суббота Господня. Сегодня вы ничего не найдете на земле.

26 s ix days ye do gather it, and in the seventh day -- the sabbath -- in it there is none.'

Вы будете собирать хлопья шесть дней, но на седьмой день, в субботу, ничего не будет.

27 A nd it cometh to pass on the seventh day, some of the people have gone out to gather, and have not found.

Некоторые из народа вышли собирать в седьмой день, но ничего не нашли.

28 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `How long have ye refused to keep My commands, and My laws?

Господь сказал Моисею: – Сколько еще вы будете нарушать Мои повеления и наставления?

29 s ee, because Jehovah hath given to you the sabbath, therefore He is giving to you on the sixth day bread of two days; abide ye each his place, no one doth go out from his place on the seventh day.'

Запомните: Господь дал вам субботу, и поэтому в шестой день дает вам хлеб на два дня. Пусть в седьмой день каждый остается там, где он есть. Пусть никто не выходит из дома.

30 A nd the people rest on the seventh day,

И в седьмой день народ пребывал в покое.

31 a nd the house of Israel call its name Manna, and it as coriander seed, white; and its taste as a cake with honey.

Народ Израиля назвал эту пищу манной. Она была белой, как кориандровое семя, а на вкус – как медовое печенье.

32 A nd Moses saith, `This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Fill the omer with it, for a charge for your generations, so that they see the bread which I have caused you to eat in the wilderness, in My bringing you out from the land of Egypt.'

Моисей сказал: – Так повелел Господь: «Возьмите омер манны и храните для грядущих поколений, чтобы они могли видеть хлеб, которым Я кормил вас в пустыне, когда вывел из Египта».

33 A nd Moses saith unto Aaron, `Take one pot, and put there the fulness of the omer of manna, and let it rest before Jehovah, for a charge for your generations;'

Моисей сказал Аарону: – Возьми кувшин и наполни его омером манны. Поставь его перед Господом, чтобы сохранить для грядущих поколений.

34 a s Jehovah hath given commandment unto Moses, so doth Aaron let it rest before the Testimony, for a charge.

Как Господь повелел Моисею, Аарон поставил кувшин с манной перед ковчегом свидетельства, чтобы хранить.

35 A nd the sons of Israel have eaten the manna forty years, until their coming in unto the land to be inhabited; the manna they have eaten till their coming in unto the extremity of the land of Canaan.

Израильтяне ели манну сорок лет, пока не пришли в заселенную землю. Они ели манну, пока не достигли рубежей Ханаана.

36 a nd the omer is a tenth of the ephah.

(Мера омер составляет одну десятую часть ефы ).
