1 A nd he said also unto his disciples, `A certain man was rich, who had a steward, and he was accused to him as scattering his goods;

Иисус сказал Своим ученикам: – Управляющий одного богатого человека был обвинен в растрате имущества своего хозяина.

2 a nd having called him, he said to him, What this I hear about thee? render the account of thy stewardship, for thou mayest not any longer be steward.

Хозяин вызвал его к себе и сказал: «Что это я слышу о тебе? Предоставь мне отчет о своем управлении, потому что ты больше не можешь занимать эту должность».

3 ` And the steward said in himself, What shall I do, because my lord doth take away the stewardship from me? to dig I am not able, to beg I am ashamed: --

Управляющий подумал: «Что же мне теперь делать? Хозяин увольняет меня. Идти копать у меня нет сил, просить милостыню – стыдно...

4 I have known what I shall do, that, when I may be removed from the stewardship, they may receive me to their houses.

Но я знаю, что мне сделать, чтобы, когда меня отсюда уволят, нашлись люди, которые бы приняли меня к себе».

5 ` And having called near each one of his lord's debtors, he said to the first, How much dost thou owe to my lord?

И он стал звать одного за другим должников своего хозяина. Первого он спросил: «Сколько ты должен моему хозяину?»

6 a nd he said, A hundred baths of oil; and he said to him, Take thy bill, and having sat down write fifty.

«Сто бочек оливкового масла», – ответил тот. Управляющий сказал ему: «Возьми свою расписку, садись быстро и переделай на пятьдесят».

7 ` Afterward to another he said, And thou, how much dost thou owe? and he said, A hundred cors of wheat; and he saith to him, Take thy bill, and write eighty.

Затем он спросил второго должника: «А ты сколько должен?» «Сто мешков пшеницы», – ответил тот. Управляющий говорит ему: «Возьми свою расписку и переделай на восемьдесят».

8 ` And the lord commended the unrighteous steward that he did prudently, because the sons of this age are more prudent than the sons of the light, in respect to their generation.

И хозяин похвалил нечестного управляющего за его находчивость, ведь дети этого мира сообразительнее в делах с себе подобными, чем дети света в своем поколении.

9 a nd I say to you, Make to yourselves friends out of the mammon of unrighteousness, that when ye may fail, they may receive you to the age-during tabernacles.

И Я говорю вам, приобретайте себе друзей с помощью богатства этого неправедного мира, чтобы, когда оно иссякнет, вы были приняты в вечные обители.

10 ` He who is faithful in the least, also faithful in much; and he who in the least unrighteous, is also unrighteous in much;

Кто верен в малом, тот верен и в большом, и кто не верен в малом, тот не верен и в большом.

11 i f, then, in the unrighteous mammon ye became not faithful -- the true who will entrust to you?

Поэтому, если вы не были честными в обращении с земным богатством, то кто доверит вам истинное?

12 a nd if in the other's ye became not faithful -- your own, who shall give to you?

Если вы не были честными с имуществом другого, то кто доверит вам ваше собственное?

13 ` No domestic is able to serve two lords, for either the one he will hate, and the other he will love; or one he will hold to, and of the other he will be heedless; ye are not able to serve God and mammon.'

Ни один слуга не может служить двум господам. Он или одного будет ненавидеть, а другого любить, или же одному будет предан, а другим станет пренебрегать. Вы не можете служить одновременно и Богу, и богатству.

14 A nd also the Pharisees, being lovers of money, were hearing all these things, and were deriding him,

Фарисеи, которые любили деньги, слышали все это и посмеивались над Иисусом.

15 a nd he said to them, `Ye are those declaring yourselves righteous before men, but God doth know your hearts; because that which among men is high, abomination before God;

Иисус же сказал им: – Вы умеете изображать себя праведными перед людьми, но Бог знает ваши сердца. То, что ценят люди, – мерзость в глазах Бога. Закон Божий еще в силе (Мат. 5: 31-32; Мат. 11: 12-13; 5: 18)

16 t he law and the prophets till John; since then the reign of God is proclaimed good news, and every one doth press into it;

Время Закона и пророков было до Иоанна, сейчас же возвещается Радостная Весть о Божьем Царстве, и каждый прилагает усилия, чтобы попасть в него.

17 a nd it is easier to the heaven and the earth to pass away, than of the law one tittle to fall.

Но скорее небо и земля прейдут, чем из Закона пропадет хотя бы одна черточка!

18 ` Every one who is sending away his wife, and marrying another, doth commit adultery; and every one who is marrying her sent away from a husband doth commit adultery.

Каждый, кто разводится со своей женой и женится на другой, нарушает супружескую верность, и тот, кто женится на женщине, разведенной со своим мужем, также нарушает супружескую верность. Притча о богаче и нищем Лазаре

19 ` And -- a certain man was rich, and was clothed in purple and fine linen, making merry sumptuously every day,

– Жил один богатый человек. Он одевался в самую дорогую и изысканную одежду и каждый день устраивал великолепные пиры.

20 a nd there was a certain poor man, by name Lazarus, who was laid at his porch, full of sores,

А у его ворот лежал нищий по имени Лазарь. Он был весь покрыт язвами

21 a nd desiring to be filled from the crumbs that are falling from the table of the rich man; yea, also the dogs, coming, were licking his sores.

и был бы рад даже объедкам, падающим со стола богача. Собаки подходили и лизали его язвы.

22 ` And it came to pass, that the poor man died, and that he was carried away by the messengers to the bosom of Abraham -- and the rich man also died, and was buried;

Но вот нищий умер, и ангелы отнесли его к Аврааму. Умер и богач, и его похоронили.

23 a nd in the hades having lifted up his eyes, being in torments, he doth see Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom,

В аду, где богач терпел мучения, он как-то поднял глаза и увидел вдали Авраама, а рядом с ним Лазаря.

24 a nd having cried, he said, Father Abraham, deal kindly with me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and may cool my tongue, because I am distressed in this flame.

Он позвал: «Отец мой Авраам, сжалься надо мной и пошли Лазаря, чтобы тот обмакнул в воду кончик пальца и охладил мой язык, потому что я ужасно мучаюсь в этом огне».

25 ` And Abraham said, Child, remember that thou did receive -- thou -- thy good things in thy life, and Lazarus in like manner the evil things, and now he is comforted, and thou art distressed;

Но Авраам ответил: «Дитя, вспомни, что ты получил в своей жизни доброе, а Лазарь получал только плохое. Сейчас же он здесь получает утешение, а ты страдаешь.

26 a nd besides all these things, between us and you a great chasm is fixed, so that they who are willing to go over from hence unto you are not able, nor do they from thence to us pass through.

И кроме того, между нами и вами – огромная пропасть, так что даже если бы кто и захотел отсюда пойти к вам, он не смог бы, и никто оттуда не может перейти к нам».

27 ` And he said, I pray thee, then, father, that thou mayest send him to the house of my father,

Богач сказал: «Тогда прошу тебя, отец, пошли Лазаря в дом моего отца.

28 f or I have five brothers, so that he may thoroughly testify to them, that they also may not come to this place of torment.

Ведь у меня пятеро братьев, пусть он предупредит их, чтобы и они не попали в это место мучений».

29 ` Abraham saith to him, They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them;

Авраам ответил: «У них есть Моисей и пророки, пусть их слушают».

30 a nd he said, No, father Abraham, but if any one from the dead may go unto them, they will reform.

«Нет, отец Авраам, – сказал богач, – вот если бы кто-то из мертвых пришел к ним, тогда бы они покаялись».

31 A nd he said to him, If Moses and the prophets they do not hear, neither if one may rise out of the dead will they be persuaded.'

На это Авраам ему ответил: «Если они Моисея и других пророков не слушают, то даже если кто-то воскреснет из мертвых, их и это не убедит».
