1 A nd Abraham addeth and taketh a wife, and her name Keturah;

Авраам взял себе другую жену, которую звали Хеттура.

2 a nd she beareth to him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

Она родила ему Зимрана, Иокшана, Медана, Мадиана, Ишбака и Шуаха.

3 A nd Jokshan hath begotten Sheba and Dedan; and the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim;

Иокшан был отцом Шевы и Дедана; потомками Дедана были ашуриты, летушиты и леюмиты.

4 a nd the sons of Midian Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah: all these sons of Keturah.

Сыновьями Мадиана были Ефа, Ефер, Ханох, Авида и Елдага. Все они были потомками Хеттуры.

5 A nd Abraham giveth all that he hath to Isaac;

Авраам оставил все, что у него было, Исааку.

6 a nd to the sons of the concubines whom Abraham hath, Abraham hath given gifts, and sendeth them away from Isaac his son (in his being yet alive) eastward, unto the east country.

Сыновьям наложниц он еще при жизни дал подарки и отослал их от своего сына Исаака на восток, в восточную землю.

7 A nd these the days of the years of the life of Abraham, which he lived, a hundred and seventy and five years;

Всего Авраам прожил сто семьдесят пять лет.

8 a nd Abraham expireth, and dieth in a good old age, aged and satisfied, and is gathered unto his people.

Он испустил последний вздох и умер в глубокой старости, насытившись жизнью, и отошел к своим предкам.

9 A nd Isaac and Ishmael his sons bury him at the cave of Machpelah, at the field of Ephron, son of Zoar the Hittite, which before Mamre --

Его сыновья Исаак и Измаил похоронили его в пещере Махпела рядом с Мамре, на поле хетта Эфрона, сына Цохара,

10 t he field which Abraham bought from the sons of Heth -- there hath Abraham been buried, and Sarah his wife.

которое Авраам купил у хеттов. Там Авраам был погребен рядом со своей женой Саррой.

11 A nd it cometh to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blesseth Isaac his son; and Isaac dwelleth by the Well of the Living One, my Beholder.

После смерти Авраама Бог благословил его сына Исаака, который тогда жил возле Беэр-лахай-рои. Потомки Измаила (1 Пар. 1: 28-31)

12 A nd these births of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, hath borne to Abraham;

13 a nd these the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their births: first-born of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

и вот имена сыновей Измаила, перечисленные в порядке их рождения: Невайот – первенец Измаила, Кедар, Адбеел, Мивсам,

14 a nd Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

Мишма, Дума, Масса,

15 H adar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

Хадад, Тема, Иетур, Нафиш и Кедма.

16 t hese are sons of Ishmael, and these their names, by their villages, and by their towers; twelve princes according to their peoples.

Это имена сыновей Измаила, имена двенадцати вождей родов по их поселениям и кочевьям.

17 A nd these the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty and seven years; and he expireth, and dieth, and is gathered unto his people;

Всего Измаил жил сто тридцать семь лет. Он испустил последний вздох и умер, и отошел к своим предкам.

18 a nd they tabernacle from Havilah unto Shur, which before Egypt, in going towards Asshur; in the presence of all his brethren hath he fallen.

Его потомки поселились в области от Хавилы до Сура, возле границы Египта, на пути к Ашшуру. Они жили во вражде со всеми братьями. Сыновья Исаака – Иаков и Исав

19 A nd these births of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham hath begotten Isaac;

Вот рассказ об Исааке, сыне Авраама: У Авраама родился Исаак.

20 a nd Isaac is a son of forty years in his taking Rebekah, daughter of Bethuel the Aramaean, from Padan-Aram, sister of Laban the Aramaean, to him for a wife.

Исааку было сорок лет, когда он женился на Ревекке, дочери арамея Бетуила из Паддан-Арама и сестре арамея Лавана.

21 A nd Isaac maketh entreaty to Jehovah before his wife, for she barren: and Jehovah is entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceiveth,

Исаак молил Господа за жену, потому что она была бесплодна. Господь ответил на его молитву, и его жена Ревекка забеременела.

22 a nd the children struggle together within her, and she saith, `If right -- why I thus?' and she goeth to seek Jehovah.

Дети стали толкать друг друга в ее утробе, и она сказала: – За что мне это? И она пошла спросить Господа.

23 A nd Jehovah saith to her, `Two nations in thy womb, and two peoples from thy bowels are parted; and the people than the people is stronger; and the elder doth serve the younger.'

Господь сказал ей: – Два племени в чреве твоем, два народа произойдут из тебя и разделятся; один будет сильнее другого, и старший будет служить младшему.

24 A nd her days to bear are fulfilled, and lo, twins in her womb;

Когда пришло ей время родить, во чреве ее действительно оказались мальчики-близнецы.

25 a nd the first cometh out all red as a hairy robe, and they call his name Esau;

Первый родился красный, и все его тело было покрыто волосами как ворсистой одеждой; поэтому его назвали Исав.

26 a nd afterwards hath his brother come out, and his hand is taking hold on Esau's heel, and one calleth his name Jacob; and Isaac a son of sixty years in her bearing them.

Потом появился его брат, держась рукой за пятку Исава; поэтому он был назван Иаков. Исааку было шестьдесят лет, когда Ревекка родила их. Исав продает свое первородство

27 A nd the youths grew, and Esau is a man acquainted hunting, a man of the field; and Jacob a plain man, inhabiting tents;

Мальчики выросли: Исав был искусный охотник, человек полей, а Иаков был человек тихий, живущий среди шатров.

28 a nd Isaac loveth Esau, for hunting in his mouth; and Rebekah is loving Jacob.

Исаак, которому была по вкусу дичь, больше любил Исава, но Ревекка больше любила Иакова.

29 A nd Jacob boileth pottage, and Esau cometh in from the field, and he weary;

Однажды, когда Иаков готовил похлебку, Исав вернулся с поля очень голодный.

30 a nd Esau saith unto Jacob, `Let me eat, I pray thee, some of this red red thing, for I weary;' therefore hath called his name Edom;

Он сказал Иакову: – Скорее, дай мне поесть немного того красного, что ты готовишь! Я умираю от голода! (Вот почему ему также дали имя Эдом ).

31 a nd Jacob saith, `Sell to-day thy birthright to me.'

Иаков ответил: – Сперва продай мне твое первородство.

32 A nd Esau saith, `Lo, I am going to die, and what is this to me -- birthright?'

– Я умираю от голода, – сказал Исав. – Какая мне польза в первородстве?

33 a nd Jacob saith, `Swear to me to-day:' and he sweareth to him, and selleth his birthright to Jacob;

Иаков сказал: – Сначала поклянись. Он поклялся, и так продал свое первородство Иакову.

34 a nd Jacob hath given to Esau bread and pottage of lentiles, and he eateth, and drinketh, and riseth, and goeth; and Esau despiseth the birthright.

Тогда Иаков дал Исаву хлеба и чечевичной похлебки. Он поел, попил, встал и ушел. Так Исав пренебрег своим первородством.
