1 A nd Abraham addeth and taketh a wife, and her name Keturah;

Abraham prit encore une femme, nommée Ketura.

2 a nd she beareth to him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

Elle lui enfanta Zimran, Jokschan, Medan, Madian, Jischbak et Schuach.

3 A nd Jokshan hath begotten Sheba and Dedan; and the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim;

Jokschan engendra Séba et Dedan. Les fils de Dedan furent les Aschurim, les Letuschim et les Leummim.

4 a nd the sons of Midian Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah: all these sons of Keturah.

Les fils de Madian furent Épha, Épher, Hénoc, Abida et Eldaa. -Ce sont là tous les fils de Ketura.

5 A nd Abraham giveth all that he hath to Isaac;

Abraham donna tous ses biens à Isaac.

6 a nd to the sons of the concubines whom Abraham hath, Abraham hath given gifts, and sendeth them away from Isaac his son (in his being yet alive) eastward, unto the east country.

Il fit des dons aux fils de ses concubines; et, tandis qu'il vivait encore, il les envoya loin de son fils Isaac du côté de l'orient, dans le pays d'Orient.

7 A nd these the days of the years of the life of Abraham, which he lived, a hundred and seventy and five years;

Voici les jours des années de la vie d'Abraham: il vécut cent soixante quinze ans.

8 a nd Abraham expireth, and dieth in a good old age, aged and satisfied, and is gathered unto his people.

Abraham expira et mourut, après une heureuse vieillesse, âgé et rassasié de jours, et il fut recueilli auprès de son peuple.

9 A nd Isaac and Ishmael his sons bury him at the cave of Machpelah, at the field of Ephron, son of Zoar the Hittite, which before Mamre --

Isaac et Ismaël, ses fils, l'enterrèrent dans la caverne de Macpéla, dans le champ d'Éphron, fils de Tsochar, le Héthien, vis-à-vis de Mamré.

10 t he field which Abraham bought from the sons of Heth -- there hath Abraham been buried, and Sarah his wife.

C'est le champ qu'Abraham avait acquis des fils de Heth. Là furent enterrés Abraham et Sara, sa femme.

11 A nd it cometh to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blesseth Isaac his son; and Isaac dwelleth by the Well of the Living One, my Beholder.

Après la mort d'Abraham, Dieu bénit Isaac, son fils. Il habitait près du puits de Lachaï roï.

12 A nd these births of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, hath borne to Abraham;

Voici la postérité d'Ismaël, fils d'Abraham, qu'Agar, l'Égyptienne, servante de Sara, avait enfanté à Abraham.

13 a nd these the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their births: first-born of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

Voici les noms des fils d'Ismaël, par leurs noms, selon leurs générations: Nebajoth, premier-né d'Ismaël, Kédar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

14 a nd Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

Mischma, Duma, Massa,

15 H adar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

Hadad, Théma, Jethur, Naphisch et Kedma.

16 t hese are sons of Ishmael, and these their names, by their villages, and by their towers; twelve princes according to their peoples.

Ce sont là les fils d'Ismaël; ce sont là leurs noms, selon leurs parcs et leurs enclos. Ils furent les douze chefs de leurs peuples.

17 A nd these the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty and seven years; and he expireth, and dieth, and is gathered unto his people;

Et voici les années de la vie d'Ismaël: cent trente-sept ans. Il expira et mourut, et il fut recueilli auprès de son peuple.

18 a nd they tabernacle from Havilah unto Shur, which before Egypt, in going towards Asshur; in the presence of all his brethren hath he fallen.

Ses fils habitèrent depuis Havila jusqu'à Schur, qui est en face de l'Égypte, en allant vers l'Assyrie. Il s'établit en présence de tous ses frères.

19 A nd these births of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham hath begotten Isaac;

Voici la postérité d'Isaac, fils d'Abraham.

20 a nd Isaac is a son of forty years in his taking Rebekah, daughter of Bethuel the Aramaean, from Padan-Aram, sister of Laban the Aramaean, to him for a wife.

Abraham engendra Isaac. Isaac était âgé de quarante ans, quand il prit pour femme Rebecca, fille de Bethuel, l'Araméen, de Paddan Aram, et soeur de Laban, l'Araméen.

21 A nd Isaac maketh entreaty to Jehovah before his wife, for she barren: and Jehovah is entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceiveth,

Isaac implora l'Éternel pour sa femme, car elle était stérile, et l'Éternel l'exauça: Rebecca, sa femme, devint enceinte.

22 a nd the children struggle together within her, and she saith, `If right -- why I thus?' and she goeth to seek Jehovah.

Les enfants se heurtaient dans son sein; et elle dit: S'il en est ainsi, pourquoi suis-je enceinte? Elle alla consulter l'Éternel.

23 A nd Jehovah saith to her, `Two nations in thy womb, and two peoples from thy bowels are parted; and the people than the people is stronger; and the elder doth serve the younger.'

Et l'Éternel lui dit: Deux nations sont dans ton ventre, et deux peuples se sépareront au sortir de tes entrailles; un de ces peuples sera plus fort que l'autre, et le plus grand sera assujetti au plus petit.

24 A nd her days to bear are fulfilled, and lo, twins in her womb;

Les jours où elle devait accoucher s'accomplirent; et voici, il y avait deux jumeaux dans son ventre.

25 a nd the first cometh out all red as a hairy robe, and they call his name Esau;

Le premier sortit entièrement roux, comme un manteau de poil; et on lui donna le nom d'Ésaü.

26 a nd afterwards hath his brother come out, and his hand is taking hold on Esau's heel, and one calleth his name Jacob; and Isaac a son of sixty years in her bearing them.

Ensuite sortit son frère, dont la main tenait le talon d'Ésaü; et on lui donna le nom de Jacob. Isaac était âgé de soixante ans, lorsqu'ils naquirent.

27 A nd the youths grew, and Esau is a man acquainted hunting, a man of the field; and Jacob a plain man, inhabiting tents;

Ces enfants grandirent. Ésaü devint un habile chasseur, un homme des champs; mais Jacob fut un homme tranquille, qui restait sous les tentes.

28 a nd Isaac loveth Esau, for hunting in his mouth; and Rebekah is loving Jacob.

Isaac aimait Ésaü, parce qu'il mangeait du gibier; et Rebecca aimait Jacob.

29 A nd Jacob boileth pottage, and Esau cometh in from the field, and he weary;

Comme Jacob faisait cuire un potage, Ésaü revint des champs, accablé de fatigue.

30 a nd Esau saith unto Jacob, `Let me eat, I pray thee, some of this red red thing, for I weary;' therefore hath called his name Edom;

Et Ésaü dit à Jacob: Laisse-moi, je te prie, manger de ce roux, de ce roux-là, car je suis fatigué. C'est pour cela qu'on a donné à Ésaü le nom d'Édom.

31 a nd Jacob saith, `Sell to-day thy birthright to me.'

Jacob dit: Vends-moi aujourd'hui ton droit d'aînesse.

32 A nd Esau saith, `Lo, I am going to die, and what is this to me -- birthright?'

Ésaü répondit: Voici, je m'en vais mourir; à quoi me sert ce droit d'aînesse?

33 a nd Jacob saith, `Swear to me to-day:' and he sweareth to him, and selleth his birthright to Jacob;

Et Jacob dit: Jure-le moi d'abord. Il le lui jura, et il vendit son droit d'aînesse à Jacob.

34 a nd Jacob hath given to Esau bread and pottage of lentiles, and he eateth, and drinketh, and riseth, and goeth; and Esau despiseth the birthright.

Alors Jacob donna à Ésaü du pain et du potage de lentilles. Il mangea et but, puis se leva et s'en alla. C'est ainsi qu'Ésaü méprisa le droit d'aînesse.
