1 T o the Overseer. -- `Destroy not.' -- A Psalm of Asaph. -- A Song. We have given thanks to Thee, O God, We have given thanks, and near Thy name, They have recounted Thy wonders.

(75: 1) Au chef des chantres. «Ne détruits pas.» Psaume d'Asaph. Cantique. (75: 2) Nous te louons, ô Dieu! nous te louons; Ton nom est dans nos bouches; Nous publions tes merveilles.

2 W hen I receive an appointment, I -- I do judge uprightly.

(75: 3) Au temps que j'aurai fixé, Je jugerai avec droiture.

3 M elted is the earth and all its inhabitants, I -- I have pondered its pillars. Selah.

(75: 4) La terre tremble avec tous ceux qui l'habitent: Moi, j'affermis ses colonnes. -Pause.

4 I have said to the boastful, `Be not boastful,' And to the wicked, `Raise not up a horn.'

(75: 5) Je dis à ceux qui se glorifient: Ne vous glorifiez pas! Et aux méchants: N'élevez pas la tête!

5 R aise not up on high your horn, (Ye speak with a stiff neck.)

(75: 6) N'élevez pas si haut votre tête, Ne parlez pas avec tant d'arrogance!

6 F or not from the east, or from the west, Nor from the wilderness -- elevation.

(75: 7) Car ce n'est ni de l'orient, ni de l'occident, Ni du désert, que vient l'élévation.

7 B ut God judge, This He maketh low -- and this He lifteth up.

(75: 8) Mais Dieu est celui qui juge: Il abaisse l'un, et il élève l'autre.

8 F or a cup in the hand of Jehovah, And the wine hath foamed, It is full of mixture, and He poureth out of it, Only its dregs wring out, and drink, Do all the wicked of the earth,

(75: 9) Il y a dans la main de l'Éternel une coupe, Où fermente un vin plein de mélange, Et il en verse: Tous les méchants de la terre sucent, boivent jusqu'à la lie.

9 A nd I -- I declare to the age, I sing praise to the God of Jacob.

(75: 10) Je publierai ces choses à jamais; Je chanterai en l'honneur du Dieu de Jacob. -

10 A nd all horns of the wicked I cut off, Exalted are the horns of the righteous!

(75: 11) Et j'abattrai toutes les forces des méchants; Les forces du juste seront élevées.
