1 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

L'Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:

2 ` Command the sons of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, When ye are coming in unto the land of Canaan -- this the land which falleth to you by inheritance, the land of Canaan, by its borders --

Donne cet ordre aux enfants d'Israël, et dis-leur: Quand vous serez entrés dans le pays de Canaan, ce pays deviendra votre héritage, le pays de Canaan, dont voici les limites.

3 t hen hath the south quarter been to you from the wilderness of Zin, by the sides of Edom, yea, the south border hath been to you from the extremity of the Salt Sea, eastward;

Le côté du midi commencera au désert de Tsin près d'Édom. Ainsi, votre limite méridionale partira de l'extrémité de la mer Salée, vers l'orient;

4 a nd the border hath turned round to you from the south to the ascent of Akrabbim, and hath passed on to Zin, and its outgoings have been from the south to Kadesh-Barnea, and it hath gone out at Hazar-Addar, and hath passed on to Azmon;

elle tournera au sud de la montée d'Akrabbim, passera par Tsin, et s'étendra jusqu'au midi de Kadès Barnéa; elle continuera par Hatsar Addar, et passera vers Atsmon;

5 a nd the border hath turned round from Azmon to the brook of Egypt, and its outgoings have been at the sea.

depuis Atsmon, elle tournera jusqu'au torrent d'Égypte, pour aboutir à la mer.

6 ` As to the west border, even the great sea hath been to you a border; this is to you the west border.

Votre limite occidentale sera la grande mer: ce sera votre limite à l'occident.

7 ` And this is to you the north border: from the great sea ye mark out for yourselves mount Hor;

Voici quelle sera votre limite septentrionale: à partir de la grande mer, vous la tracerez jusqu'à la montagne de Hor;

8 f rom mount Hor ye mark out to go in to Hamath, and the outgoings of the border have been to Zedad;

depuis la montagne de Hor, vous la ferez passer par Hamath, et arriver à Tsedad;

9 a nd the border hath gone out to Ziphron, and its outgoings have been at Hazar-Enan; this is to you the north border.

elle continuera par Ziphron, pour aboutir à Hatsar Énan: ce sera votre limite au septentrion.

10 ` And ye have marked out for yourselves for the border eastward, from Hazar-Enan to Shepham;

Vous tracerez votre limite orientale de Hatsar Énan à Schepham;

11 a nd the border hath gone down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east of Ain, and the border hath gone down, and hath smitten against the shoulder of the sea of Chinnereth eastward;

elle descendra de Schepham vers Ribla, à l'orient d'Aïn; elle descendra, et s'étendra le long de la mer de Kinnéreth, à l'orient;

12 a nd the border hath gone down to the Jordan, and its outgoings have been at the Salt Sea; this is for you the land by its borders round about.'

elle descendra encore vers le Jourdain, pour aboutir à la mer Salée. Tel sera votre pays avec ses limites tout autour.

13 A nd Moses commandeth the sons of Israel, saying, `This the land which ye inherit by lot, which Jehovah hath commanded to give to the nine tribes and the half of the tribe;

Moïse transmit cet ordre aux enfants d'Israël, et dit: C'est là le pays que vous partagerez par le sort, et que l'Éternel a résolu de donner aux neuf tribus et à la demi-tribu.

14 f or the tribe of the sons of Reuben have received, by the house of their fathers; and the tribe of the children of Gad, by the house of their fathers; and the half of the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance;

Car la tribu des fils de Ruben et la tribu des fils de Gad ont pris leur héritage, selon les maisons de leurs pères; la demi-tribu de Manassé a aussi pris son héritage.

15 t he two tribes and the half of the tribe have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan, Jericho, eastward, at the -rising.'

Ces deux tribus et la demi-tribu ont pris leur héritage en deçà du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho, du côté de l'orient.

16 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

L'Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:

17 ` These the names of the men who give to you the inheritance of the land: Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun,

Voici les noms des hommes qui partageront entre vous le pays: le sacrificateur Éléazar, et Josué, fils de Nun.

18 a nd one prince -- one prince -- for a tribe ye do take to give the land by inheritance.

Vous prendrez encore un prince de chaque tribu, pour faire le partage du pays.

19 ` And these the names of the men: of the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;

Voici les noms de ces hommes. Pour la tribu de Juda: Caleb, fils de Jephunné;

20 a nd of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, Shemuel son of Aminihud;

pour la tribu des fils de Siméon: Samuel, fils d'Ammihud;

21 o f the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad son of Chislon;

pour la tribu de Benjamin: Élidad, fils de Kislon;

22 a nd of the tribe of the sons of Dan, the prince Bukki son of Jogli;

pour la tribu des fils de Dan: le prince Buki, fils de Jogli;

23 o f the sons of Joseph, of the tribe of the sons of Manasseh, the prince Hanniel son of Ephod;

pour les fils de Joseph, -pour la tribu des fils de Manassé: le prince Hanniel, fils d'Éphod; -

24 a nd of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, the prince Kemuel son of Shiphtan;

et pour la tribu des fils d'Éphraïm: le prince Kemuel, fils de Schiphtan;

25 a nd of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun, the prince Elizaphan son of Parnach;

pour la tribu des fils de Zabulon: le prince Élitsaphan, fils de Parnac;

26 a nd of the tribe of the sons of Issachar, the prince Paltiel son of Azzan;

pour la tribu des fils d'Issacar: le prince Paltiel, fils d'Azzan;

27 a nd of the tribe of the sons of Asher, the prince Ahihud son of Shelomi;

pour la tribu des fils d'Aser: le prince Ahihud, fils de Schelomi;

28 a nd of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali, the prince Pedahel son of Ammihud.'

pour la tribu des fils de Nephthali: le prince Pedahel, fils d'Ammihud.

29 T hese those whom Jehovah hath commanded to give the sons of Israel inheritance in the land of Canaan.

Tels sont ceux à qui l'Éternel ordonna de partager le pays de Canaan entre les enfants d'Israël.
