1 A nd Moses answereth and saith, `And, if they do not give credence to me, nor hearken to my voice, and say, Jehovah hath not appeared unto thee?'

Моисей ответил: – А если они не поверят мне, не послушаются и скажут: «Господь не являлся тебе»?

2 A nd Jehovah saith unto him, `What this in thy hand?' and he saith, `A rod;'

Тогда Господь сказал: – Что у тебя в руке? – Посох,– ответил он.

3 a nd He saith, `Cast it to the earth;' and he casteth it to the earth, and it becometh a serpent -- and Moses fleeth from its presence.

Господь сказал: – Брось его на землю. Когда Моисей бросил его на землю, тот превратился в змею, и Моисей отбежал от нее.

4 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Put forth thy hand, and lay hold on the tail of it;' and he putteth forth his hand, and layeth hold on it, and it becometh a rod in his hand --

Тогда Господь сказал ему: – Протяни руку и возьми ее за хвост. Моисей протянул руку, схватил змею, и она превратилась у него в руке в посох.

5 ` -- so that they believe that Jehovah, God of their fathers, hath appeared unto thee, God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob.'

– Господь сказал: – Это для того, чтобы они поверили, что Господь, Бог их отцов, Бог Авраама, Бог Исаака и Бог Иакова, явился тебе.

6 A nd Jehovah saith to him again, `Put in, I pray thee, thy hand into thy bosom;' and he putteth in his hand into his bosom, and he bringeth it out, and lo, his hand leprous as snow;

Затем Господь сказал: – Положи руку за пазуху. Моисей положил руку за пазуху, а когда вытащил, она была белой от проказы, как снег.

7 a nd He saith, `Put back thy hand unto thy bosom;' and he putteth back his hand unto his bosom, and he bringeth it out from his bosom, and lo, it hath turned back as his flesh --

– Теперь опять положи ее за пазуху, – сказал Он. Моисей опять положил руку за пазуху, и когда вытащил, она снова стала чистой, как остальное тело.

8 ` -- and it hath come to pass, if they do not give credence to thee, and hearken not to the voice of the first sign, that they have given credence to the voice of the latter sign.

Господь сказал: – Если они не поверят тебе и первое знамение их не убедит, они поверят второму.

9 ` And it hath come to pass, if they do not give credence even to these two signs, nor hearken to thy voice, that thou hast taken of the waters of the River, and hast poured on the dry land, and the waters which thou takest from the River have been, yea, they have become -- blood on the dry land.'

А если не поверят двум знамениям и не послушают тебя, зачерпни воды из Нила и вылей на землю, и эта вода превратится в кровь.

10 A nd Moses saith unto Jehovah, `O, my Lord, I not a man of words, either yesterday, or before, or since Thy speaking unto Thy servant, for I slow of mouth, and slow of tongue.'

Моисей сказал Господу: – О Владыка, я не был красноречивым раньше и не стал им теперь, когда Ты заговорил со Своим слугой. Я говорю медленно и невнятно.

11 A nd Jehovah saith unto him, `Who appointed a mouth for man? or who appointeth the dumb, or deaf, or open, or blind? is it not I, Jehovah?

Господь сказал ему: – Кто дал человеку язык? Кто делает его глухим или немым? Кто дает зрение или делает его слепым? Разве не Я, Господь?

12 a nd now, go, and I -- I am with thy mouth, and have directed thee that which thou speakest;'

Итак, ступай; Я помогу тебе говорить и научу, что сказать.

13 a nd he saith, `O, my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand Thou dost send.'

Но Моисей ответил: – О Владыка, прошу, пошли кого-нибудь другого.

14 A nd the anger of Jehovah burneth against Moses, and He saith, `Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I have known that he speaketh well, and also, lo, he is coming out to meet thee; when he hath seen thee, then he hath rejoiced in his heart,

Господь разгневался на Моисея и сказал: – А твой брат, левит Аарон? Я знаю, он говорит хорошо. Он уже вышел, чтобы тебя встретить, и обрадуется, увидев тебя.

15 a nd thou hast spoken unto him, and hast set the words in his mouth, and I -- I am with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and have directed you that which ye do;

Ты можешь говорить с ним и вкладывать слова в его уста. Я помогу вам обоим говорить и научу вас, что делать.

16 a nd he, he hath spoken for thee unto the people, and it hath come to pass, he -- he is to thee for a mouth, and thou -- thou art to him for God;

Он будет говорить народу твои слова, как если бы пророк говорил слова Бога.

17 a nd this rod thou dost take in thy hand, with which thou doest the signs.'

Возьми с собой этот посох: ты будешь творить им знамения. Моисей возвращается в Египет

18 A nd Moses goeth and turneth back unto Jethro his father-in-law, and saith to him, `Let me go, I pray thee, and I turn back unto my brethren who in Egypt, and I see whether they are yet alive.' And Jethro saith to Moses, `Go in peace.'

Моисей вернулся к своему тестю Иофору и сказал ему: – Позволь мне вернуться к родственникам в Египет – посмотреть, живы ли они еще. Иофор сказал: – Иди с миром.

19 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses in Midian, `Go, turn back to Egypt, for all the men have died who seek thy life;'

Господь сказал Моисею в Мадиане: – Вернись в Египет: те, кто хотел убить тебя, умерли.

20 a nd Moses taketh his wife, and his sons, and causeth them to ride on the ass, and turneth back to the land of Egypt, and Moses taketh the rod of God in his hand.

Моисей взял жену и сыновей, посадил их на осла и пустился в обратный путь в Египет, неся с собой Божий посох.

21 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `In thy going to turn back to Egypt, see -- all the wonders which I have put in thy hand -- that thou hast done them before Pharaoh, and I -- I strengthen his heart, and he doth not send the people away;

Господь сказал Моисею: – Когда ты вернешься в Египет, смотри, соверши перед фараоном чудеса, для которых Я дал тебе силу. А Я сделаю его сердце упрямым, и он не отпустит народ.

22 a nd thou hast said unto Pharaoh, Thus said Jehovah, My son, My first-born Israel,

Тогда скажи фараону: «Так говорит Господь: Израиль – Мой сын, Мой первенец.

23 a nd I say unto thee, Send away My son, and he doth serve Me; and -- thou dost refuse to send him away -- lo, I am slaying thy son, thy first-born.'

Я сказал тебе: Отпусти Моего сына поклониться Мне. Ты не отпустил его, и теперь Я убью твоего сына-первенца».

24 A nd it cometh to pass in the way, in a lodging place, that Jehovah meeteth him, and seeketh to put him to death;

В пути, на ночлеге, Господь встретил Моисея и собирался убить его.

25 a nd Zipporah taketh a flint, and cutteth off the foreskin of her son, and causeth to touch his feet, and saith, `Surely a bridegroom of blood thou to me;'

Но Циппора взяла острый каменный нож, обрезала крайнюю плоть сына и коснулась ею ног Моисея. – Ты жених крови для меня, – сказала она.

26 a nd He desisteth from him: then she said, `A bridegroom of blood,' in reference to the circumcision.

Тогда Господь отступил от него. («Жених крови» – так она говорила про обрезание.)

27 A nd Jehovah saith unto Aaron, `Go to meet Moses into the wilderness;' and he goeth, and meeteth him in the mount of God, and kisseth him,

Господь сказал Аарону: – Иди в пустыню встречать Моисея. Он пошел, встретил Моисея у Божьей горы и поцеловал его.

28 a nd Moses declareth to Aaron all the words of Jehovah with which He hath sent him, and all the signs with which He hath charged him.

Моисей рассказал Аарону обо всем, с чем послал его Господь, и о всех знамениях, которые Он велел ему сотворить.

29 A nd Moses goeth -- Aaron also -- and they gather all the elders of the sons of Israel,

Моисей и Аарон собрали израильских старейшин,

30 a nd Aaron speaketh all the words which Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses, and doth the signs before the eyes of the people;

и Аарон пересказал им все, что сказал Моисею Господь. Моисей сотворил перед людьми знамения,

31 a nd the people believe when they hear that Jehovah hath looked after the sons of Israel, and that He hath seen their affliction; and they bow and do obeisance.

и они поверили. Услышав, что Господь позаботился о них и увидел их беду, они склонились и восславили Его.
