1 A nd in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, dreamed hath Nebuchadnezzar dreams, and his spirit doth move itself, and his sleep hath been against him;

На втором году правления Навуходоносора, ему приснились сны; он встревожился духом и не мог заснуть.

2 a nd the king saith to call for scribes, and for enchanters, and for sorcerers, and for Chaldeans, to declare to the king his dreams. And they come in and stand before the king;

Тогда царь призвал всех чародеев, волшебников, колдунов и мудрецов-халдеев, чтобы они рассказали, что ему приснилось. Когда они пришли и встали перед царем,

3 a nd the king saith to them, `A dream I have dreamed, and moved is my spirit to know the dream.'

он сказал им: – Мне снился сон, и мой дух тревожится, желая понять, что это был за сон.

4 A nd the Chaldeans speak to the king Aramaean, `O king, to the ages live, tell the dream to thy servants, and the interpretation we do shew.'

Тогда мудрецы-халдеи ответили царю по-арамейски: – О царь, живи вечно! Расскажи твоим слугам этот сон, и мы истолкуем его.

5 T he king hath answered and said to the Chaldeans, `The thing from me is gone; if ye do not cause me to know the dream and its interpretation, pieces ye are made, and your houses are made dunghills;

Царь ответил мудрецам-халдеям: – Вот что я решил: если вы сами не расскажете мне содержание сна и его истолкование, то вас разрубят на куски, а ваши дома превратятся в груды развалин.

6 a nd if the dream and its interpretation ye do shew, gifts, and fee, and great glory ye receive from before me, therefore the dream and its interpretation shew ye me.'

Но если вы расскажете мне этот сон и истолкуете его, то получите от меня подарки, награды и великие почести. Итак, расскажите мне этот сон и истолкуйте его.

7 T hey have answered a second time, and are saying, `Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and the interpretation we do shew.

Они ответили еще раз: – Пусть царь расскажет своим слугам сон, а мы истолкуем его.

8 T he king hath answered and said, `Of a truth I know that time ye are gaining, because that ye have seen that the thing is gone from me,

Тогда царь сказал: – Я точно знаю, вы стараетесь выиграть время, потому что видите, что я решил так:

9 t hat, if the dream ye do not cause me to know -- one is your sentence, seeing a word lying and corrupt ye have prepared to speak before me, till that the time is changed, therefore the dream tell ye to me, then do I know that its interpretation ye do shew me.'

если не расскажете мне сон, то вас ждет одно наказание. Вы сговорились плести мне ложь и обман в надежде, что дело изменится. Итак, расскажите мне сон, и я узнаю, что вы можете мне его истолковать.

10 T he Chaldeans have answered before the king, and are saying, `There is not a man on the earth who is able to shew the king's matter; therefore, no king, chief, and ruler, hath asked such a thing as this of any scribe, and enchanter, and Chaldean;

Мудрецы-халдеи ответили царю: – На земле нет человека, который мог бы сделать то, чего просит царь! Никакой царь, как бы он ни был велик и могуществен, никогда не просил такого ни у одного чародея, волшебника или звездочета.

11 a nd the thing that the king is asking precious, and others are there not that do shew it before the king, save the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.'

То, о чем просит царь, слишком трудно. Никто не может открыть этого царю, кроме богов, а они среди людей не живут.

12 T herefore the king hath been angry and very wroth, and hath said to destroy all the wise men of Babylon;

Это так разгневало и разъярило царя Вавилона, что он приказал казнить всех мудрецов Вавилона.

13 A nd the sentence hath gone forth, and the wise men are being slain, and they have sought Daniel and his companions to be slain.

Был издан указ предать смерти всех мудрецов, и Даниила с его друзьями искали, чтобы предать их смерти.

14 T hen Daniel hath replied counsel and discretion to Arioch chief of the executioners of the king, who hath gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon.

Когда Ариох, начальник царских стражей, вышел предать смерти Вавилонских мудрецов, Даниил заговорил с ним с мудростью и рассудительностью.

15 H e hath answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, `Wherefore the sentence so urgent from before the king?' Then Arioch hath made the thing known to Daniel,

Он спросил царского сановника: – Почему царь издал такой суровый указ? И Ариох рассказал обо всем Даниилу.

16 a nd Daniel hath gone up, and sought of the king that he would give him time to shew the interpretation to the king.

Тогда Даниил пошел к царю и попросил дать ему время, чтобы истолковать этот сон.

17 T hen Daniel to his house hath gone, and to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, he hath made the thing known,

Даниил вернулся домой и рассказал об этом своим друзьям: Ханании, Мисаилу и Азарии.

18 a nd to seek mercies from before the God of the heavens concerning this secret, that they destroy not Daniel and his companions with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

Он сказал им просить у Бога небес милости, чтобы Он открыл им эту тайну, и они не были казнены вместе с остальными вавилонскими мудрецами.

19 T hen to Daniel, in a vision of the night, the secret hath been revealed. Then hath Daniel blessed the God of the heavens.

Ночью эта тайна была открыта Даниилу в видении. Даниил восславил Бога небес

20 D aniel hath answered and said, `Let the name of God be blessed from age even unto age, for wisdom and might -- for they are His.

такими словами: – Слава Имени Божьему вовеки; у Него мудрость и сила.

21 A nd He is changing times and seasons, He is causing kings to pass away, and He is raising up kings; He is giving wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those possessing understanding.

Он сменяет времена и эпохи; Он возводит царей и низлагает. Он дает мудрость мудрым и знание разумным.

22 H e is revealing deep and hidden things; He hath known what in darkness, and light with Him hath dwelt.

Он открывает глубокое и сокровенное; Он знает, что таится во тьме, и свет обитает с Ним.

23 T hee, O God of my fathers, I am thanking and praising, for wisdom and might Thou hast given to me; and now, Thou hast caused me to know that which we have sought from Thee, for the king's matter Thou hast caused us to know.'

Благодарю и славлю Тебя, Бог моих отцов; Ты дал мне мудрость и силу. Ты открыл мне то, о чем мы Тебя молили, Ты открыл нам царский сон! Даниил толкует сон

24 T herefore Daniel hath gone up unto Arioch, whom the king hath appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon; he hath gone, and thus hath said to him, `The wise men of Babylon thou dost not destroy, bring me up before the king, and the interpretation to the king I do shew.'

Даниил пошел к Ариоху, которому царь велел казнить вавилонских мудрецов, и сказал ему: – Не казни вавилонских мудрецов. Отведи меня к царю, и я истолкую ему его сон.

25 T hen Arioch in haste hath brought up Daniel before the king, and thus hath said to him -- `I have found a man of the sons of the Removed of Judah, who the interpretation to the king doth make known.'

Ариох тотчас же отвел Даниила к царю и сказал: – Я нашел среди пленников из Иудеи человека, который может рассказать царю, что означает его сон.

26 T he king hath answered and said to Daniel, whose name Belteshazzar, `Art thou able to cause me to know the dream that I have seen, and its interpretation?'

Царь спросил Даниила (называемого также Белтешаццаром): – Ты можешь рассказать мне о том, что я видел во сне, и истолковать это?

27 D aniel hath answered before the king and said, `The secret that the king is asking, the wise men, the enchanters, the scribes, the soothsayers, are not able to shew to the king;

Даниил ответил: – Ни один мудрец, волшебник, чародей или колдун не мог открыть царю тайны, о которой он спрашивал,

28 b ut there is a God in the heavens, a revealer of secrets, and He hath made known to king Nebuchadnezzar that which to be in the latter end of the days. `Thy dream and the visions of thy head on thy bed are these:

но на небе есть Бог, открывающий тайны. Он показал царю Навуходоносору то, что должно произойти в последние дни. Вот сон и видения, которые ты видел, лежа в постели:

29 T hou, O king, thy thoughts on thy bed have come up that which to be after this, and the Revealer of secrets hath caused thee to know that which to be.

Когда ты лежал в постели, о царь, твой разум обратился к будущему, и Открывающий тайны показал тебе то, что должно произойти.

30 A s to me -- not for wisdom that is in me above any living hath this secret been revealed to me; but for the intent that the interpretation to the king they make known, and the thoughts of thy heart thou dost know.

А мне эта тайна была открыта не потому, что у меня больше мудрости, чем у прочих людей, но для того, чтобы ты, о царь, мог узнать истолкование и понять то, что прошло через твой ум.

31 ` Thou, O king, wast looking, and lo, a certain great image. This image mighty, and its brightness excellent; it is standing over-against thee, and its appearance terrible.

Ты посмотрел, о царь, и вот, перед тобой стояла большая статуя – огромная, сияющая ослепительным блеском, ужасная на вид статуя.

32 T his image! its head of good gold, its breasts and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of brass;

Голова статуи была из чистого золота, грудь и руки из серебра, живот и бедра из бронзы,

33 i ts legs of iron, its feet, part of them of iron, and part of them of clay.

ноги из железа, а ступни частью из железа, частью из обожженной глины.

34 T hou wast looking till that a stone hath been cut out without hands, and it hath smitten the image on its feet, that of iron and of clay, and it hath broken them small;

Пока ты смотрел, откололся камень, без помощи человеческих рук. Он ударил статую по ступням из железа и обожженной глины и раздробил их.

35 t hen broken small together have been the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, and they have been as chaff from the summer threshing-floor, and carried them away hath the wind, and no place hath been found for them: and the stone that smote the image hath become a great mountain, and hath filled all the land.

И в тот же миг железо, обожженная глина, бронза серебро и золото разбились на куски и стали, как мякина на току летом. Ветер унес их, не оставив и следа. Но камень, который ударил в статую, превратился в огромную гору и заполнил всю землю.

36 T his the dream, and its interpretation we do tell before the king.

Таков был сон, а теперь истолкуем его царю.

37 ` Thou, O king, art a king of kings, for the God of the heavens a kingdom, strength, and might, and glory, hath given to thee;

Ты, о царь, есть царь царей. Бог небес дал тебе владычество и силу, могущество и славу;

38 a nd whithersoever sons of men are dwelling, the beast of the field, and the fowl of the heavens, He hath given into thy hand, and hath caused thee to rule over them all; thou this head of gold.

Он отдал в твои руки человеческий род, полевых зверей и небесных птиц. Где бы они ни жили, Он сделал тебя владыкой над всеми ними. Ты и есть та золотая голова.

39 A nd after thee doth rise up another kingdom lower than those, and another third kingdom of brass, that doth rule overall the earth.

После тебя поднимется другое царство, уступающее твоему. После него – третье царство, бронзовое, которое будет править всей землей.

40 A nd the fourth kingdom is strong as iron, because that iron is breaking small, and making feeble, all, even as iron that is breaking all these, it beateth small and breaketh.

Наконец, явится четвертое царство, крепкое, как железо – ведь железо все разбивает и все крушит – и как всесокрушающее железо, оно раздробит и сокрушит все остальные.

41 A s to that which thou hast seen: the feet and toes, part of them potter's clay, and part of them iron, the kingdom is divided: and some of the standing of the iron to be in it, because that thou hast seen the iron mixed with miry clay.

И как ты видел то, что ступни и пальцы ступней были частью из обожженной глины и частью из железа, так и царство это будет разделенным; но будет в нем и от крепости железа, ведь ты видел, что железо смешано с обожженной глиной.

42 A s to the toes of the feet, part of them iron, and part of them clay: some part of the kingdom is strong, and some part of it is brittle.

Так как пальцы ступней были частью из железа и частью из глины, то и царство это будет частью крепким, частью хрупким.

43 B ecause thou hast seen iron mixed with miry clay, they are mixing themselves with the seed of men: and they are not adhering one with another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

И так как ты видел железо смешанным с обожженной глиной, так и его народ будет смешанным, но не пребудет в единстве, как невозможно смешать железо и глину.

44 ` And in the days of these kings raise up doth the God of the heavens a kingdom that is not destroyed -- to the age, and its kingdom to another people is not left: it beateth small and endeth all these kingdoms, and it standeth to the age.

В дни тех царей Бог небес установит царство, которое никогда не погибнет и не перейдет к другому народу. Оно сокрушит все эти царства и положит им конец, но само пребудет вовеки.

45 B ecause that thou hast seen that out of the mountain cut hath been a stone without hands, and it hath beaten small the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king that which to be after this; and the dream true, and its interpretation stedfast.

Таково значение видения о камне, отколовшемся от горы, без помощи человеческих рук – камне, разбившем железо, бронзу, обожженную глину, серебро и золото на куски. Великий Бог показал царю то, что произойдет в будущем. Истинен сон и верно истолкование.

46 T hen hath king Nebuchadnezzar fallen on his face, and to Daniel he hath done obeisance, and present, and sweet things, he hath said to pour out to him.

Тогда царь Навуходоносор пал ниц перед Даниилом, воздал ему почести и повелел, чтобы ему дали приношения и благовония.

47 T he king hath answered Daniel and said, `Of a truth that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since thou hast been able to reveal this secret.'

Царь сказал Даниилу: – Несомненно, ваш Бог есть Бог богов и Владыка царей, открывающий тайны, раз ты смог открыть эту тайну.

48 T hen the king hath made Daniel great, and many great gifts he hath given to him, and hath caused him to rule over all the province of Babylon, and chief of the perfects over all the wise men of Babylon.

Затем царь возвысил Даниила и дал ему множество ценных подарков. Он сделал его правителем всей провинции Вавилон и главой всех ее мудрецов.

49 A nd Daniel hath sought from the king, and he hath appointed over the work of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and Daniel in the gate of the king.

Даниил попросил царя, и царь поставил Шадраха, Мешаха и Аведнего над делами провинции Вавилон, тогда как сам Даниил остался при царском дворе.
