1 A son of twenty and five years Jotham in his reigning, and sixteen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Jerushah daughter of Zadok.

Иотаму было двадцать пять лет, когда он стал царем, и правил он в Иерусалиме шестнадцать лет. Его мать звали Иеруша, она была дочерью Цадока.

2 A nd he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that Uzziah his father did; only, he hath not come in unto the temple of Jehovah; and again are the people doing corruptly.

Он делал то, что было правильным в глазах Господа, как и его отец Уззия, но в отличие от него он не вторгался в Господень храм. А народ все хранил свои скверные обычаи.

3 H e hath built the upper gate of the house of Jehovah, and in the wall of Ophel he hath built abundantly;

Иотам перестроил Верхние ворота Господнего дома и выполнил большие работы у городской стены на холме Офел.

4 a nd cities he hath built in the hill-country of Judah, and in the forests he hath built palaces and towers.

Он строил города в иудейских горах и крепости с башнями в лесистых местностях.

5 A nd he hath fought with the king of the sons of Ammon, and prevaileth over them, and the sons of Ammon give to him in that year a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand cors of wheat, and of barley ten thousand; this have the sons of Ammon returned to him both in the second year, and in the third.

Иотам пошел войной на царя аммонитян и победил его. В тот год аммонитяне выплатили ему сто талантов серебра, десять тысяч коров пшеницы и десять тысяч коров ячменя. Столько же они приносили ему и во второй, и в третий годы.

6 A nd Jotham doth strengthen himself, for he hath prepared his ways before Jehovah his God.

Иотам стал могущественным царем, потому что жил, во всем повинуясь Господу, своему Богу.

7 A nd the rest of the matters of Jotham, and all his battles, and his ways, lo, they are written on the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

Прочие события правления Иотама, все его войны и другие деяния записаны в «Книге царей Израиля и Иудеи».

8 A son of twenty and five years was he in his reigning, and sixteen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem;

Ему было двадцать пять лет, когда он стал царем, и правил он в Иерусалиме шестнадцать лет.

9 a nd Jotham lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the city of David, and reign doth Ahaz his son in his stead.

Иотам упокоился со своими предками и был похоронен в Городе Давида. А Ахаз, его сын, стал царем вместо него.
