1 A son of twenty and five years Jotham in his reigning, and sixteen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Jerushah daughter of Zadok.

Iotam era în vârstă de douăzeci şi cinci de ani când a început să domnească şi a domnit la Ierusalim timp de şaisprezece ani. Mama lui se numea Ieruşa şi era fiica lui Ţadok.

2 A nd he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that Uzziah his father did; only, he hath not come in unto the temple of Jehovah; and again are the people doing corruptly.

El a făcut ce este drept înaintea Domnului, tot aşa cum făcuse şi tatăl său, Uzia; spre deosebire de acesta, el nu a intrat în Templul Domnului. Poporul însă a continuat să se strice.

3 H e hath built the upper gate of the house of Jehovah, and in the wall of Ophel he hath built abundantly;

Iotam a zidit Poarta de Sus a Casei Domnului şi a ridicat mult zidul Ofelului.

4 a nd cities he hath built in the hill-country of Judah, and in the forests he hath built palaces and towers.

El a zidit cetăţi în regiunea muntoasă a lui Iuda, iar în dumbrăvi a zidit fortăreţe şi turnuri.

5 A nd he hath fought with the king of the sons of Ammon, and prevaileth over them, and the sons of Ammon give to him in that year a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand cors of wheat, and of barley ten thousand; this have the sons of Ammon returned to him both in the second year, and in the third.

S-a războit cu regele amoniţilor şi a fost mai puternic decât el. În anul acela, amoniţii i-au dat o sută de talanţi de argint, zece mii de cori de grâu şi zece mii de cori de orz. În cel de-al doilea şi al treilea an, amoniţii i-au plătit la fel.

6 A nd Jotham doth strengthen himself, for he hath prepared his ways before Jehovah his God.

Iotam a ajuns puternic, pentru că şi-a statornicit căile înaintea Domnului, Dumnezeul său.

7 A nd the rest of the matters of Jotham, and all his battles, and his ways, lo, they are written on the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

Celelalte fapte ale lui Iotam, toate războaiele lui şi toate căile sale, sunt scrise în „Cartea regilor lui Israel şi ai lui Iuda“.

8 A son of twenty and five years was he in his reigning, and sixteen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem;

El era în vârstă de douăzeci şi cinci de ani când a început să domnească şi a domnit la Ierusalim timp de şaisprezece ani.

9 a nd Jotham lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the city of David, and reign doth Ahaz his son in his stead.

Iotam s-a culcat alături de părinţii săi şi l-au înmormântat în Cetatea lui David. Şi în locul lui a domnit fiul său Ahaz.
