1 W herefore, having left the word of the beginning of the Christ, unto the perfection we may advance, not again a foundation laying of reformation from dead works, and of faith on God,

De aceea, lăsaţi aspectele elementare ale adevărului despre Cristos şi să ne îndreptăm spre maturitate! Să nu mai punem din nou temelia pocăinţei de faptele moarte şi credinţa în Dumnezeu,

2 o f the teaching of baptisms, of laying on also of hands, of rising again also of the dead, and of judgment age-during,

învăţătura despre botezuri, punerea mâinilor, învierea morţilor şi judecata veşnică.

3 a nd this we will do, if God may permit,

Vom face aceasta dacă va permite Dumnezeu.

4 f or impossible for those once enlightened, having tasted also of the heavenly gift, and partakers having became of the Holy Spirit,

Căci este imposibil pentru cei ce odată au fost luminaţi, au gustat darul ceresc, au devenit părtaşi ai Duhului Sfânt

5 a nd did taste the good saying of God, the powers also of the coming age,

şi au gustat Cuvântul cel bun al lui Dumnezeu şi puterile veacului care va să vină,

6 a nd having fallen away, again to renew to reformation, having crucified again to themselves the Son of God, and exposed to public shame.

şi care totuşi au căzut, să fie aduşi înapoi la pocăinţă, întrucât ei Îl răstignesc din nou pe Fiul lui Dumnezeu şi-L fac de ocară.

7 F or earth, that is drinking in the rain many times coming upon it, and is bringing forth herbs fit for those because of whom also it is dressed, doth partake of blessing from God,

Când pământul absoarbe ploaia care, deseori, cade pe el şi dă plante care sunt folositoare celor pentru care este cultivat, el primeşte binecuvântarea de la Dumnezeu.

8 a nd that which is bearing thorns and briers disapproved of, and nigh to cursing, whose end for burning;

Dacă însă dă spini şi mărăcini, atunci nu este de nici un folos şi urmează să fie blestemat; sfârşitul lui va fi în foc.

9 a nd we are persuaded, concerning you, beloved, the things that are better, and accompanying salvation, though even thus we speak,

Chiar dacă vorbim astfel, preaiubiţilor, suntem convinşi, în ce vă priveşte, de lucruri mai bune şi care însoţesc mântuirea.

10 f or God is not unrighteous to forget your work, and the labour of the love, that ye shewed to His name, having ministered to the saints and ministering;

Căci Dumnezeu nu este nedrept ca să uite lucrarea voastră şi dragostea pe care aţi arătat-o pentru Numele Lui, faptul că i-aţi slujit pe sfinţi şi continuaţi s-o faceţi.

11 a nd we desire each one of you the same diligence to shew, unto the full assurance of the hope unto the end,

Dorim mult ca fiecare dintre voi să arate aceeaşi sârguinţă până la sfârşit, astfel încât să se împlinească ceea ce nădăjduiţi.

12 t hat ye may not become slothful, but followers of those who through faith and patient endurance are inheriting the promises.

Să nu fiţi leneşi, ci fiţi imitatori ai celor ce, prin credinţă şi răbdare, moştenesc promisiunile! Garanţia promisiunii lui Dumnezeu

13 F or to Abraham God, having made promise, seeing He was able to swear by no greater, did swear by Himself,

Când Dumnezeu i-a făcut o promisiune lui Avraam, pentru că nu avea pe nimeni mai mare pe care să jure, a jurat pe Sine Însuşi,

14 s aying, `Blessing indeed I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee;'

spunând: „Te voi binecuvânta cu adevărat şi-ţi voi înmulţi foarte mult urmaşii.“

15 a nd so, having patiently endured, he did obtain the promise;

Şi astfel, fiindcă a aşteptat cu răbdare, a obţinut promisiunea.

16 f or men indeed do swear by the greater, and an end of all controversy to them for confirmation the oath,

Oamenii jură pe cineva mai mare decât ei, iar un jurământ, care face cunoscut faptul că un lucru este adevărat şi sigur, pune capăt oricăror dispute dintre ei.

17 i n which God, more abundantly willing to shew to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, did interpose by an oath,

În acelaşi fel, când Dumnezeu a vrut să le arate mai clar moştenitorilor promisiunii caracterul neschimbător al planului Său, El a garantat acest lucru printr-un jurământ,

18 t hat through two immutable things, in which impossible for God to lie, a strong comfort we may have who did flee for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before,

pentru ca, prin două lucruri neschimbătoare, în care este imposibil ca Dumnezeu să fie găsit mincinos, noi să avem siguranţă şi astfel să fim puternic încurajaţi să punem mâna pe nădejdea care ne stă înainte.

19 w hich we have, as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and entering into that within the vail,

Avem această nădejde ca pe o ancoră pentru suflet, fermă şi sigură, şi care pătrunde în partea dinăuntru, dincolo de draperie

20 w hither a forerunner for us did enter -- Jesus, after the order of Melchisedek chief priest having become -- to the age.

unde, pentru a ne arăta calea, Isus, Care a intrat înaintea noastră, a intrat pentru noi. El a devenit Mare Preot pentru totdeauna, potrivit rânduielii lui Melhisedek.
