1 A nd it cometh to pass, when Jeremiah doth finish to speak unto all the people all the words of Jehovah their God, with which Jehovah their God hath sent him unto them -- all these words --

După ce Ieremia a terminat de spus poporului toate cuvintele Domnului, Dumnezeul lor, tot ceea ce Domnul, Dumnezeul lor, l-a trimis să le spună,

2 t hat Azariah son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and all the proud men, speak unto Jeremiah, saying, `Falsehood thou art speaking; Jehovah our God hath not sent thee to say, Do not enter Egypt to sojourn there;

Azaria, fiul lui Hoşaia, Iohanan, fiul lui Careah, şi toţi oamenii aceia mândri i-au zis lui Ieremia: „Minţi! Nu Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, te-a trimis să ne spui să nu mergem în Egipt şi să nu locuim acolo,

3 f or Baruch son of Neriah is moving thee against us, in order to give us up into the hand of the Chaldeans, to put us to death, and to remove us to Babylon.'

ci Baruc, fiul lui Neria, te întărâtă împotriva noastră, ca să ne dai în mâinile caldeenilor, să ne omoare sau să ne ducă în captivitate în Babilon.“

4 A nd Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces, and all the people, have not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah, to dwell in the land of Judah;

Iohanan, fiul lui Careah, toţi conducătorii oştirilor şi întreg poporul nu au ascultat de porunca Domnului de a rămâne în ţara lui Iuda.

5 a nd Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces, take all the remnant of Judah who have turned from all the nations whither they were driven to sojourn in the land of Judah,

Astfel, Iohanan, fiul lui Careah, şi toţi conducătorii oştirilor au luat toată rămăşiţa lui Iuda – care fusese împrăştiată în mijlocul neamurilor şi se întorsese să locuiască în ţara lui Iuda –

6 t he men, and the women, and the infant, and the daughters of the king, and every person that Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch son of Neriah,

şi anume pe toţi bărbaţii, femeile şi copiii, pe fiicele regelui, pe toţi aceia pe care Nebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, îi lăsase cu Ghedalia, fiul lui Ahikam, fiul lui Şafan, pe profetul Ieremia şi pe Baruc, fiul lui Neria,

7 a nd they enter the land of Egypt, for they have not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah, and they enter unto Tahpanhes.

şi i-au dus în ţara Egiptului, neascultând de porunca Domnului. Ei au ajuns la Tahpanhes.

8 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,

La Tahpanhes, Cuvântul Domnului i-a vorbit lui Ieremia astfel:

9 ` Take in thy hand great stones, and thou hast hidden them, in the clay, in the brick-kiln, that at the opening of the house of Pharaoh in Tahpanhes, before the eyes of the men of Judah,

„Ia în mână nişte pietre mari şi ascunde-le, în prezenţa iudeilor, în lutul cuptorului de cărămizi de la intrarea palatului lui Faraon din Tahpanhes.

10 a nd thou hast said unto them: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: `Lo, I am sending, and I have taken Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and I have set his throne above these stones that I have hid, and he hath stretched out his pavilion over them,

Apoi spune-le: «Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: ‘Voi trimite după slujitorul Meu, Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, şi voi pune tronul lui peste aceste pietre, pe care le-am ascuns; el îşi va întinde baldachinul peste ele.

11 a nd he hath come, and smitten the land of Egypt -- those who for death to death, and those who for captivity to captivity, and those who for the sword to the sword.

Va veni şi va ataca ţara Egiptului: îi va ucide pe cei destinaţi morţii, îi va duce în captivitate pe cei destinaţi exilului şi îi va ucide cu sabia pe cei destinaţi sabiei.

12 A nd I have kindled a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt, and it hath burned them, and he hath taken them captive, and covered himself with the land of Egypt, as cover himself doth the shepherd with his garment, and he hath gone forth thence in peace;

Voi da foc templelor zeilor Egiptului; el le va arde şi îi va duce în captivitate pe toţi zeii lor. Se va înveli cu Egiptul cum se înveleşte un păstor cu haina lui şi va ieşi de acolo nevătămat.

13 a nd he hath broken the standing pillars of the house of the sun, that in the land of Egypt, and the houses of the gods of Egypt he doth burn with fire.'

Va sfărâma stâlpii din templul Soarelui, din ţara Egiptului, şi va da foc tuturor templelor zeilor Egiptului.’»“
